I hated to have to sit at an angle on those tractors, I did love the D17, because you were centered on the tractor, much more comfortable. The D17 and later the 170 were both great tractors.
The Traction Booster only works when the tractor is hooked to a mounted implement, not a pull-type tool like the disk. The two top links are what make it work.
Spent a ton of hours on a wd45 just like. What a handy tractor. My favorite feature was that the seat would flip up and out of the way so i could stand up. Thank you Roger and i hope you have a wonderful new year
@rogermiller7411 looking forward to it. Just fighting in the mug these days trying to just do chores. It needs to snow and freeze or warm up and stay dry. The mud is just absolutely miserable

Great video Roger, you’re full of surprises. I always liked the looks of the WD 45 but didn’t think they looked very comfortable to operate. Thank you for another great video
First tractor I learned to drive was a WD45. I was about 11yrs old or so. Dad had me plow soybean ground with it to learn. It was a 3-14 trip rope plow and the soil on our farm was heavy so that plow was about all it could manage. More usually, it was used for pulling wagons around, powering the feed mill, raking hay, pulling a sprayer, manure spreader, etc. The stalks on your headlights and the headlight bodies look non-original. Also, missing a sort of bakelight plastic slider do-hickey on the throttle lever that glides along the tick marks. That tractor looks in great shape. Ours was pretty worn out and we always kept 2 screwdrivers in the tool box in case one managed to get it stuck in 3rd and reverse at the same time and lock up the transmission. Spent many a time popping the shifter out and trying to get the trans popped back to neutral while out in the field someplace, ha. Good memories.
The tractor had a loader on it and the previous owner rigged the lights to accommodate the loader. I didn’t know the plastic slider-I will look into that. Thanks for the advice.

We used to put 8 inch stretcher block (cinder) on the tops of our disk for added weight since there is no downward hyd. pressure from the tractor.
