Interesting guy and van. A whole lot of forethought and planning went into his set up. He did his homework and research. Great video. Randy in Minneapolis
+xingcat Thanks xingcat! We found it really interesting as well. We're really glad we were able to hook up with him again on the road and do this tour. Thanks for watching!
An interesting fella for sure . We have a Roadtrek and to compare to his van i would miss the ability to stand up in the van and the toilet and running water . Looking forward to friday for your next video . My favorite you tube channel .
+richard gallant Sounds like your set up is more similar to ours. We would miss some of those basics as well. It has certainly been working well for him though. I suppose you need less of the creature comforts when you're only sharing the space with your canine co-pilot :)
Nice rig. This is the kind of guy you would like to meet when you stuck on the road lol! Good for sir... keep enjoying life and let us enjoy the ordinary to the extraordinary. ☺
A windsock for your mike would be VERY useful! And knowing where to look the photographer's work up would have been nice!Great that you captured that man's awesome lifestyle! INSPIRING!
+Templar1129 Thanks for watching, Templar1129! We've improved our wind setup since creating this video. Our sound quality should be much improved in the future. Unfortunately, Marc doesn't currently have an online presence. But as soon as he does, we'll add his website to the description. Thanks for the comments!
what an interesting dude. I like the contrast of your two rigs. you go low power, low current and he goes high power generator. hahaha. pretty cool guys!!
+Jeff Dale Lol, thanks Jeff. I found it to be an interesting contrast as well. Both in terms of power, and in amenities. We tend to live a fairly minimalist lifestyle, but there are always way to take it one step farther... if you choose to. Thanks for the comment!
Holy crap that is one hell of a unique build with the onan generator and fuse panel. Thanks for sharing your freedom lifestyle! Wish there was a link to show off his photography
+Bayward Thanks for watching Bayward! Really glad you enjoyed it! He doesn't have a web presence at the moment, but I'll share a link if/when he does! :)
That generator system is absolute genius lol!! I have never seen that kind of setup before. I was wondering how that was working for fresh air and exhaust lol!! The funny thing is I’m getting ready too leave Newfoundland now!! Leaving around midnight and my final destination is going too be Tuktoyaktuk. I’m going too make videos for UA-cam and upload on Instagram every couple of days. I do need too invest in a decent camera tomorrow morning at some point lol. Also probably a new lab top!! I have never done any editing before so I’m gonna have too learn on the fly lol.
Like the rig, enjoy your vids, but PLEASE get a better mike or a good windshield for the one you have. I was going to build a total stealth camper, but, well, things didnt work out that way, will have a Class A on the road hopefully by the end of Jan. Figured I would keep it a year or so then move on to my ideas on stealth. Hope I can get the conversion (40 ft bus) done by Feb. want to go to Arizona Ren Fest. 8-)
+BigFireDave Thanks for the feedback BigFireDave. We've actually just invested in a new camera that takes an external microphone. SO, the wind noise should hopefully soon disappear from future videos (the next few will still have been shot with our old camera though). Ren fest sounds awesome (as does your bus), so I really hope you're able to make it! Good luck!
+Hilary Caldwell Thanks Hillary! We're really glad you enjoyed it! We've actually just invested in a new camera that takes an external microphone. SO, the wind noise should hopefully soon disappear from future videos (the next few will still have been shot previously with our old camera though).
it seems to me that solar would be better for him? or alternator charging his battery bank? that 5.5 genny must be thirsty- even at idle. Nice guy and interview!!!
+Campervan Kevin Solar is not as good way up north, and with the weather as well. He got the most bang for the buck, but yes he did go large on the gen. PS Kevin, thanks for your vids.
+Campervan Kevin We like solar because it's silent, environmentally friendly, and free to run (after the initial investment). That being said, on a cloudy day, we'd kill for a small quiet generator. Our cabin battery is also connected to our alternator though, so driving around is a good solution when extra power is needed. Since Mark tends to park in one place for a few days at a time, he probably figured a generator was his best option. In an ideal situation, I think I'd like to use panels as my primary source, with a generator as a back up. Great discussion topic guys!
+John-Paul Jespersen Next time we meet up with him, I'll see if he minds making another video about his generator ini more detail. Unfortunately, he does not have a website at the moment.
I listened to the interview and was able to hear the name and such the second time listening. Thanks for your response! I Really enjoy your adventures. Keep it up. Thx.
+buff420 Unfortunately, Mark doesn't have a website or anything at the moment. I'll encourage him to post his photos on line though. If he does, I'll be sure to share the link. Thanks for watching!
+IsRasna This is a brilliant idea! We've actually just invested in a new camera that takes an external microphone. SO, the wind noise should hopefully soon disappear from future videos (the next few will still have been shot previously with our old camera though). Thanks for the tip!
+VanKind That is an excellent question. I believe it was in an air-tight box near wall that segregates the cab from the back... but we never actually took a look at it. I will try to get an answer for you. Thanks for your comment!
+Steve Inman Unfortunately, he doesn't have any sort of online presence at the moment. I'll encourage him to get something set up though, and will update you if he does! Thanks for watching!
+Tori Bissell Hi Tori! Unfortunately Marc doesn't yet have a website. As soon as he does, we'll post the link in the description. Thanks for your comment!
+CreativeTux You make a good point. There is always a loss when converting from 12 volt DC to 120 volt AC. Plus, most portable electronics don't actually run on AC, which means their power adapters then have to convert back the the original DC (of various voltages) anyway... which involves another loss. It's always more efficient to start in DC and stay in DC. That being said, the generator and inverter allow him to use his stock power adapters and other 120 volt devices without shopping around for 12 volt equivalents. His generator seems to be fairly efficient, so the extra fuel likely only costs a few cents a day. There are pros and cons to everything I suppose.
I caution many people with dogs........NEVER tie a dog to a vehicle...... We all have bad days were are head is full of anxiety. If you must then tie to the front grill and run the rope over the mirror. As a teen in a hurry my dad plugged the car in and did not run the cord over the 1976 Pinto mirror. I pulled the light off the side of the house .........while thinking of a 10 blonde........what if it was a dog tied to that car ????
Thanks Mark very much! Nice meeting you - thanks for sharing your van setup and info....safe travels....Happy Trails from Missouri.
It's nice to know that there are more folks in living a van and venturing across country.
+jbentio
Absolutely! I always love meeting a fellow van dweller :)

Smart simple setup. Really nice man. I'm sure he has some very interesting photos.

good interview ,it is amazing how much stuff you can get into a van
+vickie mears
thanks Vickie! And you're right about all the stuff. As long as you pack uit well and have a system, you can fit A LOT.
Great interview! I love watching how other rvers and vanners do things! Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback BigFireDave. We've actually just invested in a new camera that takes an external microphone. SO, the wind noise should hopefully soon disappear from future videos (the next few will still have been shot with our old camera though). Ren fest sounds awesome (as does your bus), so I really hope you're able to make it! Good luck!
nice video!
+Pepitogrillo42
Thanks Pepitogrillo!
cool video like easy camping with generator.14 was nice at de video.
+Michel Brouwer
Thanks Michel!
Another great interview. Thank you for showing his setup. Always pick up points. Can you cut out the wind noise? Only criticism I have.
+Hilary Caldwell

The guy sure loves his heavy duty stuff XD
What a great interview. Have you guys kept in touch with him? Would love to see his photos.
After a year, I was wondering if Mark have made a website yet! So anxious to see his work!
Hi Flyer4EVER7, as far as we know he has not made one yet.
I wish I could of seen some of his photos.
+Tonahuac Theonewhocarriesthelight
We've told him that he needs a website. As soon as he does, we'll share it in the description. Thanks for watching!

Nice setup. Where can I find those black metal storage boxes?
army surplus store they are old ammo boxes
Would love to see the generator setup. So quiet. Also does he have a website for his art?
+John-Paul Jespersen
Next time we meet up with him, I'll see if he minds making another video about his generator ini more detail. Unfortunately, he does not have a website at the moment.
Great Stuff
nice guy
great interview. would love more info on that generator.
+Jan van Gogh
Thanks Jan! I'll see if I can get more information from Mark for you. Was there anything in particular you were interested in?
I listened to the interview and was able to hear the name and such the second time listening. Thanks for your response! I Really enjoy your adventures. Keep it up. Thx.
n e a t rig he has....and a cute dog......
+56v12cylinder
His dog was so well tempered. Very friendly. And beautiful :)
Great looking set up. Where is the generator kept at?
Would love to see a link to this guy in description. Sorry if I missed it somewhere in the video.
+buff420
Unfortunately, Mark doesn't have a website or anything at the moment. I'll encourage him to post his photos on line though. If he does, I'll be sure to share the link. Thanks for watching!
Thanks
Loving the videos but taping a small piece of foam over the microphone would help cut the wind noise. :)
+IsRasna
This is a brilliant idea! We've actually just invested in a new camera that takes an external microphone. SO, the wind noise should hopefully soon disappear from future videos (the next few will still have been shot previously with our old camera though). Thanks for the tip!
Nice!
+The Dove Nest Vansion
Thanks Dove Nest!
great watching your vids so far. any link to mark yet?
Thank you for using Metric Units!
what a tiddy van!
Do you have a link to this dude's work?
Where in the front was the generator located?
+VanKind
That is an excellent question. I believe it was in an air-tight box near wall that segregates the cab from the back... but we never actually took a look at it. I will try to get an answer for you. Thanks for your comment!

Did you ever bump into Mark again? Did he finally get a website? Would be interested to know.
Do you know if there is somewhere we can check out Mark's photos? I'd love to see his work.
+Tori Bissell
Hi Tori! Unfortunately Marc doesn't yet have a website. As soon as he does, we'll post the link in the description. Thanks for your comment!
Not to worry. Thanks.
Interesting, but surely all those small batteries could be charged easily from 12v adaptors? At least thats what I do from my motorbike and car.
+CreativeTux
You make a good point. There is always a loss when converting from 12 volt DC to 120 volt AC. #vapenation
at 5:13 you can see his license plate
You definitely need a wind filter!! Hard to hear some of the dialogue.
+BigredApril1951
We have one now, luckily, so future videos should improve. Thanks for the feedback!

+matt caluda
Not in the van... I assume he uses public facilities. We didn't discuss this however.
