    I member when I switched to the 03 noticing that there is a slingshot effect on it sometimes (lil slow, then a lil fast) in addition to the latency itself appearing variably. I mentioned it to a friend that had been on the system for more than a year, and they remarked that they didn't notice it. I now barely remember that, and am acclimated. Lil time capsule watching you walk through this, thanks for making a video about it :)

      @@StacemanFPVWay back when DJI was fairly new, Vanover, one of the top FPV racers in the world, tried racing on a legit course with both analog and DJI. He said in the video that's still probably on UA-cam, that he could feel the less latency of analog, but in just a few laps he could easily adjust to the slight increase in latency that DJI had. It's not like it's a huge difference, especially if you aren't a hard core racer. The laps were bring recorded, and since he actually raced with analog, his times were best with analog, but his times with DJI got better and faster with each lap he flew. Analog laps were the fastest but the fastest DJI laps were only hundreds of a second slower. Barely anything. Vancouver actual said he could feel the slight difference in latency, but after a short while, he could easily adjust for it and his times were very close to his analog times. Obviously, analog and HDZero have similar if not the same latency, so this adjustment will take a bit of time. I too fly DJI and haven't noticed any difference in latency between analog and DJI. It doesn't effect me. I'm not a teacher.
      What DOES EFFECT ME is the incredible improvement in image quality and the penetration is so incredible it's not even in the same ballpark!!! With analog I couldn't fly into the canopy of a huge tree, maneuver slowly seeing every single tiny scraggle branch, and get out through a tiny little gap on the other side of the trees canopy! It's such a new experience to see everything so clearly! Can't do that with HDZero (Analog2) or analog.
      A pilot can also fly soooooo much further, still keeping that incredible image clarity, while cruising as you were close to the ground.
      I can now not only fly around the first corner of a building or grove of trees, but completely around it! Typically with little to no degredation to image clarity. HDZero can't even get 30 feet around the first corner of a solid building and then it's rainbow 🌈 screen of Death!☠️💀
      To summarize, there's absolutely no comparison in image quality, penetration, durability, and reliability between digital systems! DJI is a 10 out of 10, Walksnail is a 6, HDZero is a 2.5, and analog is a 2. And I'm being generous with these ratings for The Snail, Analog 2, and Analog. One could even go down a full point on each, especially after spending some time flying DJI!!!
      THIS IS A GREAT VIDEO YOU MADE HERE! 👍
      People that are saving there coins to invest in, by far the most expensive HDZero system, need to know they are paying twice as much for 7.5 points lower performance and durability and reliability.
      One prominent reviewer said on his channel the same exact thing you did here! He couldn't afford to pay for replacement VTX's time and time again after so many failures! He said he quit HDZero for good because it was so unreliable it was making him go broke!
      It's a shame people can't fly each of the digital systems before they invest, because if they did, HDZero, without a doubt, would be out of business!
      So much money for so little improvements over plain ole Analog!
      Plus the HDZero goggles are over twice as expensive as the DJI Integra goggles that come with antennas and a battery, where you have to buy the approx. $100 antennas and the approx. $25 battery separate with HDZero.
      Total: DJI Integra goggles - $349 everywhere in the USA that sells DJI. Ready to fly!
      HDZero goggles - $600 + $100 antennas + $25 battery = $725... Over double for so little over Analog, except for less durability and reliability!
      😎🤘

    I think you'll find it is the rc link causing the feeling of latency. I go back and forth between dji and analog all the time and feel very little difference using ELRS. Don't forget those goggles will work with vista/ links too, so on your 5" if you are using a gopro, the vista is plenty good enough and a lot less expensive. And also very durable. I only use 03s on quads too small to carry a gopro well.

      I still have my Taranis X9D with crossfire if I ever decide to switch back. I never ran crossfire on it's lowest latency, or even fixed latency for that matter, and honestly never noticed a difference between the old FrSky SBUS and crossfire. I don't doubt it is less latent, and less latency is better. The more I have used this whole system, I am adjusting to it. Been doing this hobby for a while (10 years now), and for most of that, I have used the same radio, and for the majority of that (6 years) on SBUS, and it never held me back.

    Hey man, I’ve also started flying O3 recently. Not sure if you saw my recent test video, but in my experience, O3 crushes all other systems when it comes to penetration, and yea, that image is incredible!
    I do a lot of longer range cinematic flights which is theoretically perfect for O3, but I will say I’m more nervous flying mountain ridges with O3 than HDZero because variable latency. For Ex: At cruising speed 80kph (50mph) each frame is about 0.75m (2.5ft) delayed, and that’s with a 30ms delay which is best case for DJI. So those rocks I see right ahead have actually already flown by! And worse, if I screw up my LOS, I might not even know for 1/2 second which would be about 10m (30ft), and the quad will surely be gone.
    So I feel you on the pros & cons, but O3 is no doubt impressive stuff!

    • @StacemanFPV
      @StacemanFPV  Місяць тому +1

      Yeah I can definitely see how delays can affect you for certain.... But man that image is so clear I'll know long before I get there that I need to avoid it 😂😂

    I primarily fly my Goggles 2 with O3 (ever since I started a year ago... with the exception of flying analog micros with my Skyzone Cobra X) and absolutely love it. The Goggles 2 vs Integra were a easy win for me since they have diopter adjustment. I'm less enamored with the Vista Air Unit quality (and lack of DVR) video quality, but I love that I can still use my Goggles 2 with that quad (tons better than analog). My biggest complaint with O3 is just the cost of the VTX. I look at Walksnail and HDZero: HDZero doesn't have on-board DVR, I don't love the resolution, and I feel like I hate the digital snow (but I've never flown with it). I mostly fly more cinematically, so right now the latency different isn't an issue. I'd really consider Walksnail X but they seem to have quality issues and I don't like that they won't record the HDMI-in or Analog-In, so they couldn't be a replacement for my analog box goggles. I doubt I'll be buying any more analog quads. For the number of quads I have and will get in the near future, I'll just stick with DJI.

    • @StacemanFPV
      @StacemanFPV  Місяць тому

      Yeah the digital snow on hdzero does take some getting used to. It's a bit more harsh than analog but range and penetration is about the same as analog. For me, I enjoyed my hdzero time but I'm glad that I switched.

    Stacey, great stuff! Thanks for your honest take on things! My experience is similar between HDZ and DJI... The DJI fits my cruising style really well. Switching TX grips is a huge deal, definitely give that some time to sink in... Or switch to ELRS;-) I am really interested to hear how you learn to free style with DJI. Perhaps the original air units or Caddx would be better?

    • @StacemanFPV
      @StacemanFPV  Місяць тому

      Yeah, i started flying back in 2014, and I thumbed.... When I got into trying to learn to fly acro (line of sight no less), i gradually switched over to pinching since I had this bad problem of dealing poorly with yaw/throttle. Pinching fixed that. And now it seems I am going back to thumbing.... yaw/throttle control is still an issue but much less now that I have been flying for so long.

      Like that other guy said... Get rid of the lousy DJI controller! Cheap junk.
      Then, get a decent radio, like a Radiomaster... I'd stay far away from Junker....ERRRR... Jumper... Low end crap!
      With a much better radio you'll be able to go right back to punching because you'll get full sized, it close to it, gimbals. Pinching is far superior, IMO, to thumbing.
      Nice video!

      The only issue I have seen are those that have made the "control-link-dropping-when-video-link-drops" a deal breaker. I can see where they are coming from, but I don't really see that as a deal breaker for me. I can't think of a single case when I have ever lost video that still having my control link was of any help. I know some have been able to recover in those scenarios, and for them, this might be more of an issue. I appreciate Mad breaking it down and showing what happens. And for the record, even with the latest firmware as of this date, that behavior still happens.

    Great video I love DJI I fly ELRS and Crossfire though started on old air units and vistas 2 years ago. But switched to 03 soon as it came out. Now I fly only 03 the 03 is so durable. I crash all the time Mutiple times a session. its why I fly DJI its great quality. I also fly full size sticks I've always been a thumber and even that's hard to do with the DJI gray radio such small gimbles with less throw its difficult I started with the Og DJI FPV remote. So, I tried flying my 5in quads with it it's so sensitive thought to myself it might help because of the small gimbles to lower and fly lower rate's then you usually would I do that with my Avata 1 and 2 and I can fly them pretty good with the gray remote. The range is amazing on the 03 air units I'm spoiled from starting with DJI I find myself now wanting more range lol. you're going to love the 03 more and more after ever RIP. Happy Flying brother.

      It's definitely proving itself to hold up well. And the range is ridiculous. I always knew it was better. My buddy Dave could always go places I never could several years ago when it was the original air unit. At that the I was flying analog using the TBS pro32 HV. I had good range with it but penetration was always the downside. He would go places that seemed impossible. And now experiencing it and it's amazing. I see more and more why he was trying to get me to switch back then.
      I'm starting to adjust to the gimbals. I fly pretty low rates and I've thought of trying even lower ones but haven't yet. I think it's the looseness that is giving me the most trouble. That said I'm getting adjusted to it and I think I'll be used to it in a few months and not even think about it after that

Be interesting to see how you get on with the switch in time.

    • @StacemanFPV
      @StacemanFPV  Місяць тому +1

      Yeah, hdzero image isn't bad compared with analog. Much better, and the latency is basically the same as analog. Range and penetration are in par with analog but the "breakup" sometimes makes it feel worse than analog. DJI latency is definitely higher but it's consistent so you can adjust to it. It doesn't play as nicely with other systems. Much more difficult to have a lot of pilots in the air. This hasn't really affected me as I generally fly alone or with one other person so it works fine in that case. But the image quality and clarity are unmatched. And the range and penetration are unmatched. I used to think it wasn't that big of deal... Just position right and use the right antenna... But in reality, the DJI system is in a completely different league.

      Never had any physical issues with them. I just had issues where they would quit working after light crashes. I don't think it was the actual crash that was the issue, but rathe voltage spikes that result sometimes in crashes. I say this because the number of issues went drastically down after adding a large capacitor. I think that the HDZero stuff is really susceptible to electric noise and voltage spikes. I had the least issues when using a regulated voltage source off of the FC, with a large (2000) capacitor. The other issue that I had that was more of an annoyance was the cameras would always get bits of dust on the sensor after a crash. Every Single Camera I had for HDZero would end up with this issue, no matter if I sealed the case before even using it. The dust was inside from the factory.

    I just haven't had durability issues except with the whooplite on my Mobula8 when it meets concrete. The breakup is flyable, but penetration is a minus. One of my very favorite use of HDZ is in low light. I just love flying my small wings and the Mob8 at dusk and dawn. reminds me of nightvision goggles without the green screen. I laugh when I land, pull my goggles off and find it is completely dark except for a faint glow on the horizon. Both my analog and HDZ goggle screens and diopters dont adjust perfectly, but once I launch I never notice the left screen blurriness that only requires a bit of snake eye to read my volts.
    Now I too own a used set of Goggles V2 with HONSVR lenes, an 03 air and a vista vtx. I of course enjoy the clear image, great range and penetration..., but hate the setup hassles of djl. We will see. I may have chosen the wrong goggles, considered the Integra with VR lens, but wanted the increased 144hz dypplay rate of the V2 and the WTOSD root for full INAV osd

      Haven't really had any setup issues but I understand that those with Goggles v2 and O3 had some issues. As for durability I had so many issues with hdzero.. I don't completely fault them, but it just seems that they were a bit more fragile, especially compared with my analog stuff. I definitely wish the company well though... Competition is such a good thing for the consumer

      @@StacemanFPV I think for racers, at least so far there is no comparison flying night or day and the Race V3 is tough, my V2 has been slammed, and my FS v1 has as well. I tend to crash on grass though. Whoop folks too love their HDZ

      Well I flew the race V3, original freestyle 4s and original freestyle for 6s... All went out sooner than I would have expected. I don't crash on grass too often so I'm sure that contributed... My bigger issue which I didn't bring up was actually the camera.... Every single one... And I mean every single one would get dust specs on the sensor no matter what I tried to prevent it and that drove me nuts... Never happened with analog cameras.. Ever. I'm not sure where the issue is either... Even the new V3 camera had the problem.

    Stacy. I've been watching you since the beginning of you HZERO adventure. I fly HDZERO, DJI 03 and Walksnail at a high level. Do this to fix your issues. #1 Get rid of the stupid DJI controller. #2 Buy a Radiomaster Boxer ELRS controller and switch your quads to 500hz ELRS. #3, Put the DJI Goggle 2 or at 4x3 1080p 100 for the absolutely fastest lowest latency connection. Using the DJI control link is nice if you are a reviewer and you are constantly switching 03 Air Units in out of quads. But the DJI Control link is terrible. Get away from it. It will make your flying degrade.

      Thanks for the tips... I've tried the 100 refresh and I can't use it because the video is at 100 and you can't get it to look right in post... Jitters since it's not a multiple of 30/60... The latency difference wasn't enough to really help but the bigger problem was that I couldn't get video at a frame rate I could work with in post.
      As for control link.. sbus is slower but the difference between that and crsf or elrs is minimal though I'm sure after I've been flying crsf for so long the difference is more just like the video latency difference are minimal but after flying analog / hdzero for so long I can feel them more.
      I'll keep all the suggestions in mind though as I continue on this journey

    Great video Stacey. I've noticed all the same stuff when switching from analog to digital (03AU, Goggles Integra). I'm never going back. The clarity made FPV a whole different animal to me and i love it. I'm not a good enough pilot to notice latency differences between analog and digital. I don't do much flippity floppity but focus more on trying to capture smooth, flowing, cinematic video. Hey, one question because your footage looks so nice, what are your 03 camera settings, what are your video editing software settings, and are you doing any tricks when uploading to UA-cam? I'm experimenting with these things now. I can get a really nice looking video from my 03AU recording in 2.7k or 4k 60fps and rendering in DaVinci Resolve but when i uploaded it UA-cam, it looks way worse...🤔🙄 I've been asking guys what their everyday average settings are so i can improve the quality of my vids. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Happy flying amigo. 🫡 🍻

      Hey brother! So I use WonderShare for video editing. Resolve should do just fine but the trick is to upscale to 4k.
      I record in 2.7k 4:3 60ps and I create my project as 4k 30fps (29.97)... I record in the cinelike color profile. No stabilization. When I'm editing i take the 4:3 footage and stretch it 133% on X and 108% on Y. I color grade using a JohnnyFPV lut, and do some manual adjustments to it. I don't do post stabilization with gyroflow either.
      If I missed any question you have on it just shoot me another message or email.

    I have hd0 and am kind of in the same boat. The picture isn't really that great and penetration doesn't look anywhere near that flying you're doing in the end of the video. I feel like even with the freestyle v2 unlocked it couldn't touch a candle to that kind of distance.

    • @StacemanFPV
      @StacemanFPV  Місяць тому

      When I first got hdzero I loved it and felt like the video quality was alright and really not all that worse than the other digital systems at the time.... That quickly changed though and by the end I didn't feel like the quality was bad per se, but it felt lackluster... Couple that with the poor performance on range and penetration and the durability, it was really a no brainer to switch.
