China's navy has a high hull count but if you limit it to those that can sail from Hainan to the Red Sea, it's something like fifty ships. They won't lean on Iran much due to the collective geopolitical forces at work, but there's a big lesson here. If we believe @ZeihanonGeopolitics, which I do, China is utterly incapable of protecting the sea lanes they MUST have for both importing inputs and exporting finished goods. Their rise is a side effect of Pax Americana and it will not survive the United States losing interest in global crossing guard duties.
