- Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the threat to his nation from China's sweeping claims in the South China Sea is growing but argued that his government's efforts to assert sovereignty over disputed areas aren't meant to start a conflict by "poking the bear."

The president of the Philippines certainly comes across as an articulate and thoughtful leader. I was impressed when he acknowledged a difficult question and took time to gather his thoughts so that he could answer it carefully and accurately, and without dodging it.

- the rest of it is the international water,

Honestly, any time a US or Filipino official talks about the border claim they should show and talk about the the map in the beginning, all the other countries seem to have sea borders that make sense (except for maybe Vietnam being a bit greedy). Then, there's China's border, that's reminiscent of a preschooler during playtime when the teacher says 'just play with the toys around you' and so he stretches out his arms and legs as much as he can, yells 'mine!' and claims everything in front of him.
