Hands-down, no-contest, THE BEST EXPLANATION of Voicemeeter, full-stop. I've literally spent YEARS *trying* to use it, off and on, getting frustrated and giving up, just to eventually find myself in a situation where I really felt compelled to try, and - until now - ultimately fail again and give up. Even simply showing that they could be renamed was a massive help, so that when I grasp something, I don't forget again. I wish I could like and subscribe 100, nay, 1,000 times!
This definitely needs more attention! Very clear instructions on the entire process with adequate tempo! Thank you for sharing and looking forward to the future videos!
I have watched a lot of tutos in the internet, but your way of explaining these problematic definitions of inputs and outputs is clearly the best I have found so far. Thanks
This is the only video that I found that explained how everything thing works functionally instead of just showing settings. I fully understand the app now and can create my own configurations. Thank you.
Wasn't this splendid? This was splendid, indeed! I feel ready now for the next step in my PC-audio evolution - transitioning from Banana to Potatoe - and I am very glad your video caught my attention as the very first among all this intriguing variety of productions regarding the subject. I would count this as one of the better introductions into the matter at hand most easily. Well done, good sir, well done!
I'm not a Voicemeeter beginner but just a Moment ago I wondered wether there was anyone else out there who appreciates Voicemeeter as much as i do, and after sifting through many useless Click bait Gamer Guy Videos, I found this! Thank you so much for making this. I didnt know that you could label the inputs and outputs like that, or the default device setting in Windows! Awesome.
Thank you very much! Very clear, detailed and very very patiently explained! Really appreciate it. Thank you once again. Hope to catch up with the other Voicemeeter videos
Just found this video and I can't believe how easy you make it to understand. I was hoping the second part for use with the Akai APM Mini was out but I guess I just have to subscribe and wait. Looking forward to it!
There's one issue I find across the virtual audio handlers, and I stress the "I"; when the word "Severe" is attached to a certification of ADHD, they mean it. It can make it impossible to stop and read the manual. Having access to video this well-prepared is essential and greatly appreciated. Now to the subject...... I often find that some of the terminology has "input" and "output" opposite from what I'd expect. I cite the commercial software "Virtual Audio Cable" but even with Voicemeeter in my Windows 10 sound control panel, under the "Playback" tab it's "Voicemeeter input" and the same with the Recording tab. Just curious if this is familiar to others. I was a technical illustrator/draftsman for 30+ years; no instructional material can be "visual enough".
Wow such nice explanation. although I am still confused on some areas but it enough for me to tweak my own setup of outputs and inputs and will figure out the rest hopefully.
Thank you for this video. It turns out I've been using VM wrong for so long. This has simplified and explained so much! I'm looking forward to learning more from your future videos! Thank you!
Thanks for the lovely comment ☺️ I am so glad I could help! I hope to have the next tutorials up shortly but the Christmas break has slowed everything down for a little bit! - Mac
Thanks mate! Your video explained all of this better than any I've seen and got me sorted in getting 5.1 sound out of DaVinci Resolve 17 (since they don't support ASIO). VM was the solution I needed. Cheers.
I wish I started my VoiceMeeter journey with your video! But just by reverse engineering i found out the in/out-routing. The separate music chanel is a nice diea I will copy. Thanks a lot.
Лучшее видео, объясняющее всё по полочкам. Если не знаете ангельский - смотрите с переведёнными субтитрами. Даже прочтение официального мануала не помогло, а это видео - да. It was REALLY good, ty for the so great explanation without water. You have a talent. Hope to find more vids from you with tricks about VBAN and Macro-Buttons😏😏
This was the only video that made sense to me when setting up voicemeeter to run on my pc, alongside my xbox gameplay, to then stream. Just had a driver issue and had to remove voicemeeter and reinstall. Any chance of an updated video? As shit just got more complicated!
Thanks for the video! A tip: if there's music playing in the bg, but you don't hear* it, there will be dissonance in the juxtaposition...aka it won't flow well...aka the audio will be jarring.
Good video. I've been using VM for about 4 years. Starting with the original I would recommend to people to start off with the original VoiceMeeter to understand the basic concepts and move to Banana or Potato when reaching limitations. For me Potato is a bit overkill so I use Banana w/ ASIO4All (I couldn't actually get Potato working with ASIO for some reason). When using the App Volume and Device Preference in Windows, do you have an issue where it wont remember the selection? Almost every reboot, Chrome (and others) is reverted to default output even though in the App Volume settings, Voicemeeter Aux is selected. I have to set it to something else then back to Voicemeeter Aux for the audio to be actually routed.
Thanks for the reply! Although to some degree I agree with you, having the 3 virtual outputs is a bit of a must for this application i.e. having a pre setup output for both streaming and recording. But if someone was content with swapping the secondary output in Banana to be stream/recording this would work well with a less complicated dashboard even though you couldn't do both at the same time very well. As for ASIO, I came across the issue where (because I had already setup potato) I was trying to add ASIO to A3 and when it didn't appear I assumed it was broken. See if you can add it to A1 output in Potato :) And to be honest I have never had a problem with the mixer. The VAIO 3 setting you see selected in the video was set months ago and and I had forgotten about it! That being said Drizzy supplements the windows mixer with ear trumpet so you might try that to see if that program can make the selection stick? - Mac
In this video you also didn't show how the tape recorder thing works and how that integrates into the sound or whatever.. what does A-1-B3 do to effect that while gaming/streaming.. how does it work etc? Would like to see a video on how that works, also an explanation in response to my comment so that I can get started using it right away if I need that as well? Thanks!
Good question! I hoped to cover this when i cover my APCmini but I haven't got around to it yet! The crash course is to click the label at the top and pick an audio file such as a stream sound effect. You then pick which outputs you want it to appear on. Assuming you are set up the same as me choosing A1 (so you can hear it), B1 (so people in discord can hear it) and B2 (so stream can hear it) would be a pretty natural way to go. Click play and annoy everyone with sounds! Hope this helps! - Mac
Thanks for the great feedback! A video that includes the explanation of patching is incoming where I'll be using a VST host to improve audio recording quality! - Mac
This helped so much, I do have a question. I am not recording. I set my VMP pretty much like yours minus Nvida and using Zoom not Discord. I need to send my Spotify music and my Mic to Zoom, each time the person on the other end says the music is too loud. In Zoom, I'm doing screen share (share audio) original sound on. is that how I should do it? Thanks for a great video, I watched a number of them, I'm a newbie to sound boards this was great!
Hey, that's certainly one way of doing it. However doing it through your 'microphone input' on zoom would allow you control over the volume via the VM music fader as seen at 7:17 . Couple this with 15:32 but using B1 to send to dicord or in your case zoom. I hope this helps! - Mac
I give you a tip when you record with nvidia turn off nvidia container from windows mixer to avoid delay, since whenever we record nvidia container is activated greetings
Hey! Thanks for the tip, I have made the alterations but I didn't notice a large difference, are we talking a few milliseconds or should it be more noticeable? - Mac
I do have questions.... which VB- Audio cables do I need to also download for Voicemeeter Potato?? What is the difference between VB-Cable and HIFi Cable?
Strictly speaking you don't need either. VB audio cables just appear as virtual devices with an in and an out end. Giving you the option (for example) to say make the 'speaker' of an application such as spotify one end and then add the output as a 'microphone' input on the left side of Voicemeeter. HIFI cable I don't know personally but appears much the same but with an ASIO driver packaged in it. And usually, if you don't know what ASIO is its one of those where you probably don't have it or need it xD That being said, i have great fun with the VB audio cables and recommend them but they aren't needed at all! - Mac
Hey, Mac you covered the windows sound settings of device/channel selection in the playback tab to select as default device but not the recording tab selection of default recording device, which one to select ? pls help & reply
Hello , yes very nicely explained. However i'm having a little issue with my mic. . ? When I'm playing /game CSGO. and i'm grouped up in lobby waiting for que to pop. I can talk and everyone can hear me. but when the match starts up. . no one can hear me. could you please explain how to fix this. i think i've set up everything exactly as you have shown except the Nvidia Thank you for your time
Every tutorial ive seen shows how to set it up with 1 mic or 2 mics. Is the process the same if I'm using an audio interface with 6 mics? Does the audio interface count as 1 mic and 1 headphone? From this example could Discord be switched with a different app such as Zoom or Skype?
I decided to quote from the manual and for M.C it says: "The MUTE CENTER button on Virtual input is made to mute dialog on DVD played in multichannel mode like 5.1 or 7.1. It allows over dubbing your favorite movies for example…" . K is the karaoke button. It switches between algorithms and a frequency cut off to attempt to remove voice tracks from any music played through that input. I have had a bit of fun with this but find it a bit niche and variable in the results. Hope this helps! - Mac
I always have horrible luck with my pc, especially when it comes to modifying it in any way. I don't know where I went wrong at this point, but when I set my default playback device to one of the Potato inputs I can't control my volume like normal on my keyboard and I have to switch to my headset or I'll just have everything at a single volume and it's annoying. Also, after fiddling with my Discord Input/Output settings I noticed I have 4 different Discord icons Voicemeter's VAIO and Aux inputs, is there any way I can delete the ones that aren't doing anything or is there something else at work that I am missing?
honestly don’t know what’s wrong with it. I have downloaded/reinstalled, checked that I have 64bit windows, installed it in the right location and I still can’t even use or find the application because it doesn’t open up after I’ve rebooted when it tells me to.
Hmm thats odd. When you navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\VB\Voicemeeter a) does that even exist suggesting it is installed and b) what happens when you try to run voicemeeter8.exe ? Also to be clear voicemeeter doesn't open at restart by default its an option that is set in menu by pressing [ System tray (run at startup) ]. Hope this helps! - Mac
I would say yes. it stops the annoying popup that can ruin a game at the wrong moment. However you can only change hardware either once or twice on that licence so if you plan to imminently upgrade I would wait until then to save one of your free licence changes! - Mac
Well generally chrome should be sending its audio to the default speaker which should be Voicmeeter Input which is what we called 'PC Audio'. However if you mean when it appears physically underneath PC audio it just appears there when audio is played from the application. Hope this helps! - Mac
This Is BY FAR the Absolute BEST explanation of Voicemeeter. Your are awesome and I appreciate you making this.
Hands-down, no-contest, THE BEST EXPLANATION of Voicemeeter, full-stop.

Thankyouuuu! Whens part 2 coming out?
Yeah man agree with this guy we need part 2 please!
You have only one Voicemeeter video and it's awesome! Thank you! Need to rewatch it a few times more to get it though 🙂 LOL
This is the best explanation of Voicemeeter ever. Thanks a lot, mate.
I've been trying to find a good tutorial/explanation of voiemeeter potato on youtube for a while and none of them we're as good as your video!!!

he taught me everything I know! This guy is a genius and somebody needs to hire him asap!
outstanding ! 🥰🥰🥰👌👌👌 perfect explanation, beautiful touch of humor and kept me interested throughout 😍😍 keep it up !!
Hey, thank you so much! Getting into VM seemed daunting at first but your clear guidance really helps! Cant wait to see more from you
Glad it helped! More coming soon!
Thank you very much! Very clear, detailed and very very patiently explained! Really appreciate it. Thank you once again. Hope to catch up with the other Voicemeeter videos
Just brilliant, Mack! And a great sense of humor :) Thanks for sharing this! Subcribed and waiting for next tips!
I had a hard time understanding the inputs and outputs of VoiceMeeter, but this video helped me understand how they work and even more, thanks!
Jazz Dude recommended this software so I thought I'd take a peak. So sick of ASIO V2 not complying. Giving it a go :-)
Thank you so much for this! It all looked a bit overwhelming when I first downloaded voicemeter but your video helped a lot
Glad it could help!
Amazing video! Very easy to understand step by step. I've been having issues with my hyper x microphone and this has resolved my issues thanks!
Cool. The most clearer explanation I've got so far. Thank you for making this video
Amazing - For the first time I understood what this software hype is all about. Thank and great job...

Best video ever, THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!!!
PS: I love your accent :D

Hi ! Please.. what is M.C and K on the mains inputs of voicemeeter ?
I decided to quote from the manual and for M.C it says: "The MUTE CENTER button on Virtual input is made to
mute dialog on DVD played in multichannel mode like
5.1 or 7.1. It allows over dubbing your favorite movies for example…" .

well presented explanation. bravo.
Wish someone would go over the SEL and all the other options in master

why does my voicemeeter app, when i open it soo big
Question if someone even sees this, Should i donate 10€ to get the licenses as i do love the program
I would say yes. it stops the annoying popup that can ruin a game at the wrong moment. However you can only change hardware either once or twice on that licence so if you plan to imminently upgrade I would wait until then to save one of your free licence changes! - Mac
I did and an extra VR Cable
but you didn't show how to set google chrome underneath pc audio.
Well generally chrome should be sending its audio to the default speaker which should be Voicmeeter Input which is what we called 'PC Audio'. However if you mean when it appears physically underneath PC audio it just appears there when audio is played from the application. Hope this helps! - Mac
now I am even more confused than ever!
