1990 HDJ81 JDM series 80 owner here. I had been banging my head trying to figure out how to change the bulb in the fog light. I searched hi and low, looked in the Japanese language owners manual, the FSM, online search……nothing. Until YOUR video! Kind of unrelated as I didn’t need to swap for LEDs. Thank you for that one bit of info (the rubber boot around the back of the headlamp that had to come out, concealing the metal clip that had to be moved out of the way to get the bulb out of the back of the lamp assembly). Thank you again, very helpful! Subbed for future reference.

the extra plug is because on some models the spot contains a H1 globe that activates when the high beams are on and acts as an additional high beam light.

Dialectic grease is your friend ;-). I put LEDs in my low beams on my 80, can't remember the brand but a reputable, good rating brand from Amazon and they have been working great!! ONE CAVEAT: LEDs don't put out the heat that normal bulbs do so you will get a build-up of snow and ice during the winter sometimes.

Get some LED side light bulbs for the outer marker lights, that way they will match your new LED headlight bulbs.
When selecting the side light bulbs, definitely buy the ones with the fish eye projector glass lens over the end of the bulb. This type seriously kick out some bright light.

Thanks, I still need to do that. The problem is one of the marker lights is stuck in place. I’ve pulled to the point I’m worried I’ll break it. I wonder if a previous owner glued it in place because the other side popped right out.

Nice video. I also have an imported 80 (HDJ81) 2 questions. Do they come as a pair when you order them (can't figure out from their website). Also wondering what if anything you did to change the angle of the headlights so they don't blind oncoming traffic.

Yes they do come in pairs. I considered switching to USDM headlights because of blinding oncoming traffic, but to be honest it has never been an issue and I have never had anyone flash their brights at me on the road. (I really didn't want to switch and lose the yellow JDM fogs.)
