      I still enjoy my 938 and I carry is frequently, but I've moved on to the Sig P365 as my main daily carry. It has more capacity and it's still Sig quality.

    As an owner of a 938 Legion I could offer comments where our views intersect and where they don't. However I wish to commend you for your manner of presentation. Your cadence, articulation, and tone make your words easy to listen to and enjoyable. It is so refreshing in this day of mass, albeit sloppy, communication, to hear such a professional offering. Kudos.

    My P938 is by far the best “micro” 9mm pistol I’ve ever shot or owned. I’ve got the “green hornet” one with the black slide, dark green frame and soft sticky hogue grips. With the 7 round extended mag I can get my pinky on it, it’s a great shooter. I am not really down with all these double stack micro 9s, it seems counterintuitive to me, I’ll stick with the single stack and carry my 6 shot 327mag LCR as a backup. 👍🏻

    • @ima4ster
      @ima4ster  3 роки тому +1

      You know....I could stick with this P938 as my only handgun for the rest of my life. Of course, I could say that about several other guns also....and therein lies the problem! It's a good problem to have.

  • @michaelpangburn279

    My fist 2 trips to the range with my 938 resulted in multiple failures. The worst of which involved the slide lock/takedown lever drifting out and locking the slide and actually falling out on one occasion. Individual results will vary. My pistol will NOT reliably feed with the 1 round Sig exrended mag. After carefully polishing the edges of the lever, I've had 1000 rounds without failure from various types of 9mm ammo using the short mag. In spite of being thoroughly disgusted with Sig over the issue, this is now the only pistol I will carry. I will never part with it.

    • @ima4ster
      @ima4ster  5 років тому

      It would be hard for me to trust a gun that has had issues. Fortunately, mine hasn't had any feed issues. It is one of 2 pocket 9's that I regularly carry.

    Nice presentation on this review .
    I have the P938 SAS Model , I just love this little pistol . It fits my hand like a glove ( I have small hands) and this was the one that checked all the boxes , the instant I picked it up I knew it was the one for me .
    I love the stainless dehorned slide , two tone and Cocobolo wood grips handsomely compliment the gun .
    The sights jump right to the eye quickly and naturally , although I did replace the front sight with a TruGlo fiber optic/ tritium one , real easy to do if you have a sight press tool to remove and install the dovetail.
    The holster that came with it , well , I use it when I’m at the range , other than that , it’s just a cheap kydex OWB holster that is ok , but I prefer an IWB for carry.
    Flawless function , consistent excellent performance and accuracy from a 3” barrel micro 9 pistol.
    I have to agree with you on the takedown pin , it’s a little tricky to manipulate the slide with your one hand and pop the pin out with your other hand , but once you do it a couple times, it’s easy enough to handle.
    Be extra careful to position the spring properly ( that seats beneath the takedown pin ) when reassembling the pistol , it can cause the slide to remain open as if it was the last round fired . If you ever encounter that issue , it’s because the spring under the takedown pin was not installed properly 😉
    But this is a very functional and well built pistol , and I still can’t understand why they quit making them .
    Glad I grabbed mine when I did !
    Oh one other thing my SAS came with only two of the 7 round magazines , and I didn’t get the short flush fitting 6 round one .

      Thanks for your input. I've been carrying mine lately and I still enjoy it. By the way, I've mastered the takedown pin....it really isn't that hard. Don't know why I was having trouble early on. Take care.

    I have the Sig P238. The slide stop fell out of the gun while I was reloading. It did this twice so I sent it in for warranty work. They quickly fixed it, and no further problems. Apparently, the problem was a small wire spring that was defective. Compared with my Kahr 9mm, which I traded in for the Sig, the Sig is a work of art and shoots nice. I like the single action action better than the striker in the Kahr. Also, I don't care for polymer pistols.

    You have great taste! I own the P938, P238, a Ruger SR1911, and a Ruger Lightweight Cmdr 1911 (and many more) carry all of them, and there's no problem with a cocked and locked 1911 type pistol if your finger stays off the trigger. People carry M&P and Clocks without safety levers, and think little of it. The Sigs have a firing pin block, so you really do have to pull the trigger.

    • @ima4ster
      @ima4ster  7 років тому +2

      Yes, intellectually, I knew they were safe, but carrying it in my pocket was a different matter. Enough of an issue that I waited years to make the purchase. It's perfectly safe though.

      It was the same for me, and on rare occasions I'll leave the hammer down. I think carrying 1911's made me feel more confident with the P938, but even with the 1911's, I find myself checking the safety after standing up and sitting down. Being concerned means we're being safety conscious I suppose, and that's a good thing. :-)

    Been carrying Sig938 for about 3 years now. Like you say, there's no perfect one but this one's close. I've carried it in the gym in T-shirt and gym shorts! I just picked up a used Kahr PM9 today for $300. with 3 mags, the box and everything but an Owner's Manual. Thinkin of carryin it as backup to 938 because there could be times I might want to "loan" one to someone else - my spouse, grandson, friend, etc should we be at the mall or theater and some nutcase starts screaming "Allahu Akbar" or "My mommy was mean to me when I was little" or something. Little apprehensive that it's used but it seemed like a price at which I couldn't lose more'n $50.00. May have to buy a couple of new mags as the mags look like it belonged to someone that actually trained. We'll see. It was only $300. I found brand new Kahr mags for $35 - not too bad. Also went ahead and picked up a Walther PPS M2 LE new so I can get in on their $100.00 rebate til Sep 15th! Oh baby!!!! Can't wait to get to range now BUT just had elbow and wrist surgery a week ago - gotta heal first! Oh the situations I put myself in. I'm so ashamed.

    • @ima4ster
      @ima4ster  7 років тому

      We have those 3 handguns that are similar. My PPS is the original model and it's in .40 S&W caliber. I just can't get to the range enough to shoot the handguns that I have. At some point, I'm afraid that I can't justify any more purchases....but that hasn't happened yet, thank goodness. I just bought my first Glock...model 26. It's getting my attention more than the others these days.

    • @Fudmottin
      @Fudmottin 6 років тому

      Here's how you justify future purchases. Buy high quality firearms that are clearly designed to last and be shown off in presentation cases. I would love to get the Colt 380 Government model (or whatever it's official name is) because it is a scaled down 1911 that looks too sweet to shoot. Colt Pythons with the blue finish fall into that category too. They also fall into the multi thousand dollar price range. So they are investments!

      I agree, I have to stop buying any more guns also. I already have more than I can use on a regular basis. I'm taking my Springfield XDs Mod 2 in .45 cal. back to my gun guy to trade in for a Sig P365 sometime this week. Hopefully he'll trade out even. Otherwise I'll pay the difference. While there I'll bust some caps.

    Bring a 1911 shooter for decades, the takedown process is second nature so it’s not really a negative for me. It would be a pain for those with big hands. I was waiting for a Springfield 911 9mm to come in but This one followed me home for over 100 bucks less than the 911. I’ve run 4-5 boxes through it this week and it is a superb pistol! Dead accurate and great sights. Probably the best small frame 9 I’ve ever had!

  • @craigvaughn669
    @craigvaughn669 3 роки тому +1

    By now you’ve probably mastered the takedown,but I’m gonna throw this in anyway. Grab the top of the slide with two ir three of your rh fingers over the top from the right side with your right thumb on the back of the grip. Squeeze slide back with your right hand in this configuration. This allows your left hand fingers to push the takedown lever out from the right side enough to get ahold of it on the left side. Once the notch is lined up,of course. Easiest way I’ve found.

    • @ima4ster
      @ima4ster  3 роки тому

      Yes, that is how I've figured out how to take out the pin, but I still have trouble with it. I figured out what I was doing wrong this morning. I was lining up the notch and trying to push out the lever from the right side. The key is to fine-tune the lining up of the notch and the lever will literally fall out. Thanks for prompting me to give it another try.

    Great little gun, I had the blackout version and carried it almost every day for more than 2 years. I started to want a higher capacity gun, so I sold it to buy a Glock 19. i thought it would be just as easy to carry as my smaller p938, Nope!!
    I have a much harder time taking the G19 out the door with me, and i won't carry it most days. (once or twice a week. I really regret selling the p938, my Glock 19 is still a great gun and is strictly a bedside gun for my wife when I am not at home. my new p938 will be the SAS model. i can't wait!!!

    I agree 100% with your review - both the positive and negative. Absolutely love the point and shoot accuracy. Absolutely do not like the takedown. As you, I’ve seen videos of easy takedowns, but so far it hinders me from using the P938 as much as I’d like at the range. I’ve tried the slide pull back with my right hand in the manner most recommend but still isn’t “easy” for me. Perhaps my only real complaint. Love the 92FS take down and Glock 26 isn’t too bad, but the 938 is lacking IMHO.

    nice video. I like the fact that you hit the high points both good and bad and didn't ramble on and on like some videos. I own the p938 and really like it. I did shave off the right side ambi safety making it completely flush because I found that twice I had rubbed up against something and disengaged the safety. That did scare me so now it is flush with the right side of the p938. I found that you can buy the safety lever for the p238 from Sig and this will solve the same issue. Over all I am with you and it is my favorite edc gun. Guns and knives are like spouses, you pick the best one you can find and then you work with the differences.

    Nice video. Based on my satisfaction with the P238, I ordered a P938. It's the SAS version :-). I hope it comes with more than one magazine because it is more spendy than the P238 was. Desantis makes a superfly holster that seems to me to be much better than the Nemesis which is poor at hiding the outline of a gun. Obviously your pocket will still look like it's filled with something. I'm not sure it's physically possible to avoid that.

      From my research, I've found that some of the P938s have had loose barrels or bad extractors. If I get one of those and Sig can't fix it to my satisfaction, I'll consider a trade :-)

    • @Fudmottin

      I picked up the P938 today and ran 100 rounds through it. I had a few failures to go into battery and one feed jam that required me to drop the magazine to clear it. I also ran another 100 through the P238 with zero issues.
      When I got the gun home I field stripped it. It looks like it was shipped dry. I'll clean it and lube it before running more ammo through it. I found reassembly much more difficult than the P238. The barrel can rotate and snag the extractor. I mean really snag. It's tough to separate the two and I don't want to break the extractor or damage it in any way. The recoil spring is much heavier, as it needs to be. That took a LOT of fiddling and it kept rotating the barrel so that it would snag on the extractor. I've got it together now.
      Sig shipped the SAS with just the one seven round extended magazine. Except for the malfunctions, I did enjoy shooting it. The grip is distinctly beefier than the P238 grip. I didn't feel at all like the gun wanted to jump out of my hand. I was shooting the Remington green and white box 124gr FMJ. I found it much more pleasant to shoot and more accurate than my Ruger LC9s Pro.

    I've had issues with Kahr, and will never own another. I like Sig a lot. One note regarding the 938 (which I like a lot), the Ammo Quest guy did have the guide rod launch out of his because it's 2 pieces and it came apart. You'll want to make sure yours is not loose after use.

    Nice shooter for sure, but they are a pain in the ass to take apart and put back together. Between the need for holding the slide exactly right while taking the slide release out and then reinserting the crazy long spring with the crazy short guide rod, it definitely takes some practice To disassemble and reassemble. I had my Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9 mm completely apart and back together again before my friend could even disassemble his P938. I like shooting it well enough, and it would be real nice to carry, since it is so small, but I won’t own one, despite all the other positives.

      Walking stops? Do you live in NYC? Those are illegal but they do them anyway. Also a recent discovery shows that the NYPD is quite willing to break the law in other ways such as lying under oath in court and beating people up. I would love to believe that is just paranoia on my part except that it came from a mainstream news source.

      The p938 has a two piece quite rod. It needs to be checked when you clean the gun to make sure it is not coming “unscrewed”. If it comes apart the front section will fly out the front of the gun. Not sure how often this issue has actually happened - never had any issues with mine.

      There is no rhyme or reason with what comes in the box when you buy a Sig. I’m convinced they just send you what they want you to have. The Sig website does not specify what comes with various models. Some will come with the plastic holster while others will not. Some with only one mag. My p938 Equinox came with one six round mag and the holster.

    Which Defense Ammo does this gun like to feed?
    Or perhaps what's your preferred Ammo and grain for this particular gun? Because I'm about to buy one. It's funny, I currently carry a PM40 and about to switch, mainly because of the long trigger from PM40 to short trigger of 938.

      I run Speer Gold Dot 124 gr. hollow points in my Sig P938. I've never had any problem with Gold Dot in any of my handguns. I'm getting ready to do a comparison video of the Sig P938 and the Kahr PM9. I'll upload it by this coming Saturday depending on how busy I am at work this week.

    • @BenHayat
      @BenHayat 7 років тому +1

      Just ordered my Sig today with a nice promotion from Sig with two extra mags and a bag.
      A note to those new to guns and why I'd buy a similar size gun over my Kahr PM40 and spend another $600 to overcome one simple difference and that is a better"Trigger".
      Grip purchase and trigger pull makes a HUGE difference in shooting accurately. 90% of these L O N G Double Action trigger, where the finger has to travel all the way down to the end, causes the front to shift to left side (if you're right handed) and this happens to me with my Kahr.
      I can shoot perfectly with my 1911 Kimber or my SR9c which all have short travel.
      Perfect size grip and crisp/short trigger promotes better shooting.
      Just my two cents...
      ..Ben

    Do they make it in a .22? Thinking about one for the wife. She's not the best with pocket pistols. For example I have a Ruger 380 and she hates it. It's the recoil, etc. just a general confidence thing I guess. But hard for her to conceal anything else.

    Only a fool carries a gun in their pocket.. the title pocket gun don't imply it is to be carried in a pocket, pocket is just a general term to imply something is on the tiny end of small. I mean, people don't actually carry pocket dogs in their pocket, it is just what they're dubbed being their size is smaller than that of an average small dog.
