Great video. I’ve done a ton of wells with my dad & he always used to run a pump on a new well & he would run it & let the water run down the pipe & then suck it back up again. He would do that over & over to agitate everything at the bottom & then suck it up the pipe again
congrats man, when we bought our property, it had an old mobile home pad on the property with an old well. I wanted to use the well for irrigation, but we kept having settlement for days and days coming out of it. I would run the pump for hours each day continuous and it really never got fully clear and then one day while running it i noticed the well pipe had dropped about a foot lower. It turned out i was pumping all the sand out the bottom of the well pipe, which kept collapsing on itself and slowly allowed the well pipe to fall deeper in the ground over time. I know this had happened, because someone told me that i needed to create a natural filter in the bottom to reduce the ability for the pump to keep sucking the sand out, so i bought bags of large river rock and dropped them down the pipe flushing it out some to make sure the rocks were not collecting in the well pipe. Once i finally started to notice the level of the well rising i stopped dumping rocks and flushed it clear within a few hours. Then we installed everything to be able to use it. Also i had issues with those foot valves not sealing properly and letting the pipe drain over time, so instead of the pump running directly into the pump, i ran the pipe up 2ft above the pump level and then down below the pump about 2ft, making an area for water to get trapped to give the pump a prime even if the foot valve didn't seal. This fixed the issue i had with that.
Man, that’s super cool. I have zero experience in flushing a well. Quite interesting to watch and learn. It looks like it’s going to be just fine! You’re right, This is super exciting!!
Hey! I just watched your video about hurting your back/life changes!! I'm getting ready to try and put in a pool for my special needs son! So, I'm watching all your videos on that! Anyway, if anyone hasn't told you- you LOOK GREAT!! So you must be sticking to your challenge you set out for yourself! Great job! I just retired from owning a gym for 20 some odd years.... being retired means not working out as much so I am up a good 20 lbs and your video inspired me to get my health a top priority again! Thank you! Now, I am going back to the pool/deck series!!
Thank you, we sure did make some changes and need to make more. My health wasn't good in many areas, being overweight and eating junk was the main culprit. We feel much better now that we have lost a lot of weight. I am glad you are finding the contetn useful, take care!
That’s awesome. Huge money saver. As a well driller and well pump guy, it would be beneficial to surge it. If not, each time the well pump kicks on it will put a slug of sand in your system. Better to do it now while it’s open. Just a suggestion, if you haven’t done it already.
I am using the same type pump (green with tank) you used by your wood shop with a water tote and the pressure is very good. It will also run on the Ecoflow a long time. I got the idea from you. It let me pressurize my camp when my well went bad.
Hi Andrew and Tiffany. How nice if you can get clean useable water from the old well on your River front property fingers crossed. I see your new camper in the background nice!! That’s been a good learning experience, thank you!! ❤️❤️👍👍🇨🇦
For an anecdote, my house well has run since 2006 with a little air bladder tank like that, sprinkler system and all. I’m going to change the in ground pump next year and I’ll add a larger tank just for good measure.
Caught a little bit of the pole barn! Can't wait. Congratulations buddy. Beautiful property. Might would make a trip if you need help pouring some concrete 😅
What is the sulfur smell caused by? I ask because I just bought a place in Maine and it has a well. Being on town supplied water my entire life, I am not knowing anything about wells. Anyway, we have a scent that can only be smelled when running the hot water. The Mrs describes it as being a rotten egg smell. I too smell it, but not as much as she does.
I've read the smell comes from the hot water tank sacrificial anode rod. Look into Corro Protec powered anode; many people say it takes the smell away in 24 hours.
@@kgoldengolden oddly enough, the wife did say she read that it was coming from the hot water heater as well. I should mention however, the well pump went bad before we bought and it was replaced. There was a lot of sediment when I got the water running in the lines. I am wondering if it might be that.
Could you use a 50 gallon water heater tank (non-heated of course) in conjunction with a water heater thermal expansion tank instead of an expensive large capacity well tank? They are virtually the same thing but the expansion tank with bladder are seperate from the tank???
I surprised you didn't put a sock over that foot valve knowing the sand condition, here in Suwannee Co, we have been pulling up sand for over a year : (
even if there is bacteria in the well, whats the harm in doing a bleach flush to sanitize it. the bacteria test would only then confirm there is no more bacteria and further treatment not required? Even if there is bacteria isn't the treatment a bleach flush anyhow? Bleach is cheap so id do it, then let it sit /run for a while prior to testing it.
I don't want to bleach the well before testing as it would skew the results. After samples I have no problem doing that if it's needed. I see professionals doing that all the time.
It's sad how many ridiculous permits we have already went through and still have ahead of us. Meanwhile there are a lot of states and rural counties where no permits are pulled, event to build a home.
Hey all, don't forget the live tomorrow (Sunday) at 5PM EST! It's a great time with friendly folks, informative and lots of laughs! Come on in and introduce yourself!
Pole barn going up I see. 💪
Yep!

Very important video. Thanks so much. Great breakdown.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks!
Used to have a strong dude working for me when I owned apartments. He pulled a 400 ft well by hand. Animal. Lol.

Oh man! I agree! This is super exciting! This is the series I'm excited about :D
Great video. So glad you have water on the property 😊
Very good news Andrew 👍
Fingers crossed the well test results are workable Andrew!
Yes we pray!
Thanks for the content!

Hope the well cleans up for you and the water test results come back good for y’all
I hope so too!
Congratulations 👍
Thanks. I'm glad I got it working.
Thank you for sharing.

Very interesting video. I hope the results come out to your favor. 🙏
We'll see how it goes. Thanks for watching.
Are you getting all your outdoor plumbing ready for the cold snap?
Yep, I drained everything yesterday and put all my heat lamps out. It's going to get interesting.
Progress. On your way. Thank you.

Beautiful property.
Might would make a trip if you need help pouring some concrete 😅
We're excited to be moving forward with it. I don't plan to do concrete underneath it, maybe just some rock.
Great video, Andrew! Is that your new camper trailer in the background?
Yes, we've had it down there for a few weeks now. It will be going under the pole barn.
Wow. Nice job!
Appreciate it!
Great video. Can't wait to see the whole build
I am ready to get it going.
Hello Andrew so happy for you and Tiffany a great start to the river property thank you for sharing the video
Thank you! We are really excited about this.
Have my fingers crossed that the water test comes back clean.
What do you have to do with the well during periods of freezing temps?
I've already got it completely drained. They are calling for snow here Tuesday and Wednesday 😳
Cool, hope the test comes back good.
Yes me too!
Barn minium of your DREAMS this 2 story you should look for this for you now Property.
Swell:)))

Looks like its gonna freeze down there this week!! Hope your new well pump system does'nt get damaged.🙄
It’s already drained. Calling for snow and ice Tuesday/Wednesday here.
Won't the sand just silt right back in?? Glad you got some water!
Not necessarily, keeping a well running and filtered will take care of a lot of the sand and grit.
Could you use a 50 gallon water heater tank (non-heated of course) in conjunction with a water heater thermal expansion tank instead of an expensive large capacity well tank? They are virtually the same thing but the expansion tank with bladder are seperate from the tank???
I have no idea, personally I would stick with the outdoor rated tanks.
You need to add a union in line.
Yep, I am buying one next week along with a promer sanitary seal.
Great video.
Thanks for watching!
I thought my well was shallow at 54'. I'm over wakulla springs basin
Anything over 25ft is considered a deep well and requires a deep well jet pump. Our home is 160ft deep.
I surprised you didn't put a sock over that foot valve knowing the sand condition, here in Suwannee Co, we have been pulling up sand for over a year : (
There is a fine mesh screen already in the valve head. However I need to pull the sand out and flush it, I'd imaging a sock would plug up???
I spy in my eye......a pole barn
Correct!
How about if you would pump it out with a mud pump?
I suppose that would work.
🔥🔥
That sounds like its just a check valve on the other end.
Got my fingers x'd
Better drain that pump, I heard there is an iceberg coming in next week.
Calling for snow/ice here Tuesday and Wednesday, WILD times! I've already drained the entire system.
You want air to be able to get in the casing…if not you will cause a cave in
That cap over the casing is not threaded on or sealed except on top where the 1 inch line goes through.

It's crazy to have to get permits to build on your own land in the country.
Thanks Crystal
Can't you use the river water to be able to flush out the well??? 🤷🏽♂️
I suppose, but the river water could technically contaminate the well. Well water is filtered naturally.
Uno
Got it!
