@@jim3939 ninja gaiden came out in 2004, demon souls came out in 2009, team ninja has been making combat like this long before sekiro, also, nioh 2 is very similar which came out before sekiro
Regarding the "characters" you meet along the game, you can call them back as help later by using the backup calling item at the flag, and you can choose whoever you like.
All my dynasty warriors boys know that Lu Bu was a DEMON😭😭‼️‼️

Fun fact: "Wo Long" means "Crouching Dragon", and is the nickname given to the grand strategist Zhuge Liang. You might remember that character from the Dynasty Warrior games as the guy who wields the fan.

I'm stoked for this! Been craving that Dynasty feel and the Souls mix sold me from the get go. Not to mention it's on Gamepass on PC!
Play it with a controller because the mouse support is horrendous right now.
Soulslike games have always been more built for controller anyway just like monster hunter.
As a huge fan of Dynasty Warriors, hearing it's about the Three Kingdoms makes me very excited!
Finished Wolong twice and reach lv150. Now the game is Dynasty Warriors level and feeling😂 easy and breezy

Love it so far, just arrived in the Hidden Village.
Its punishing given I'd completed Elden Ring five times over and not played Nioh or the other games in this genre but damn, always enjoyed the Three Kingdoms characters and lore.
Co op is a blast to when you unlock it. So far Wo Long is one of my favourite 2023 launches. 🎉 happy slaying folks.

Gen 8 consoled were 3rd person open world focused
Gen 9 consoles are souls-like and rogue-lite games

As someone who loves team ninjas games, it’s so weird seeing that they just seem unwilling to improve their level design. Especially considering Ninja Gaiden, a game released back in 2004, had very great level design. Everything flowed into each other.
It's frustrating that they refuse to pick up where ninja gaiden: black left them
Ninja Gaiden had extremely basic level design.... Long hallways that lead to square or circle like rooms, all very flat with no vertical design. Some of the later renditions kind of improved level design but was still very basic.... In my opinion :)
@Arcana the first ninja gaiden has a (mostly) interconnected world that looped in on itself the way the first dark souls has
spent 100s of hours on nioh and nioh2 now planning to do the same on wo long.
FINALLY I'VE HAD THIS DOWNLOADED ON GAMEPASS FOR MONTHS
You can sell/upgrade gear. So you shouldn’t have a big inventory of gear if you’re keeping track of what you’re picking up. Demo was amazing. Can’t wait for release.

Team Ninja has made another the best Souls-like games. Really like Wo Long and Nioh.

Team Ninja are known for their difficult barrier games right from Ninja Garden series then Dynasty warriors then Nioh and now Wo long...

you don't need scary monster to make the player have anxiety. put Lu Bu as boss then everyone know he had carried your fear over a century.

This game is actually harder than you think

Is it playable today? On the PS store it say available 3/2/2023 when the actual release date is 3/3/2023.
Honestly the loot mechanics in Nioh and these are great. It's nice and deep and you can push it in wild directions. It's really not hard to sell off unwanted items, and the trade off is worth it in terms of gameplay and character creation.
Nioh kinda overkills it at endgame. Looking through 600 items every couple of stages gets old
Did they streamline it for Nioh 2 and this one? The first Nioh was excessive with the loot.

If the demo is anything to go by, this game is as if Ninja Gaiden and Nioh had a baby that was born in Dynasty Warriors world. Look forward to it!

so underated imo so far 2ed best souls like game these two years .
One minor gripe with these games is that they all look and feel the same, obviously since Team Ninja have been using the same engine for their games since Nioh. The same goes for FromSoftware, same engine from Bloodborne to elden ring. Wouldn't mind if these companies used a new engine now just to freshen things up for the rest of this generation.

Not the biggest fan of Nioh but loved Sekiro, might try this one out
China is so under utilised in it has such an intersection history and Mythology, same as Ireland and other countries too. Maybe one day these settings will be explored more.
As far as memorable characters, pretty sure I'll remember the face of that NPC who gets his throat slit a the beginning, forever.
If you look at it, Team Ninja is the only dev that actually emulates successfully the From Software formula.
You cant discredit the surge devs, those games are fantastic.

The reviewer mentions that he doesn't know much about the Three Kingdoms Era of China, but also mentions that characters come and go. Those characters are legends from the Three Kingdoms Era, so if you know it already, I'm sure the characters have more impact.
