I made mine out of pop cans. I built a houseboat on it. I made the houseboat out of 4" thick iron. I put it in the water and it immediately sank and the barge jwas immediately crushed. I can't figure out why

It says 1000ton barge. Is that the weight of the barge itself, or the amount of load it can carry and not sink?
And to think there is about 4 laying in the bottom or the Atlantic off the east coast🤔
