I have 2007 Town Car 165,000 miles, bought new. No oil burn at all. Went from Detroit to Miami drove there around 400 mile and came back to Detroit. Check the oil. Not even 1/32 drop on my dip stick. I use Motorcraft oil and oil filter. So far I didn't change anything except DDM driver door module, fixed leak on vent and cabin on passenger side. The digital LED display is dark when is suny day, but at no sun still see good. I can use analog beside digital. Changed one bulb stop light. Rest of the vehicle is OEM from new. This is the best car I ever owned. Sorry I didn't mention I changed rear shocks, but for nothing. The old shock were still good. I follow the intervals from Ford maitenance booklet.
Just my honest opinion. The 2006-2011 Lincoln Town Cars are the most reliable and dependable vehicles. I have a 2007 Town Car with 426,962 miles on it with very little effort in getting to this milage. Just regular fluid changes and preventive maintenance. That's it. It goes a long way. I would seriously buy another one. Thanks for all your great videos Rich! God bless!
7 years ago this month I bought a 2006 TC executive L with about 440,000 miles. I paid $900 for it. I did a lot of same things you have done. Currently it's at around 507,000 miles. Still runs like dream and everything works. Great cars
And when the engine and tranny eventually do give out, you can buy new crated ones cheap and installation is so easy compared to other modern sedans. I have read where fleet operators kept spare engines and trannys to do such replacement which occurred at well over 500k miles with regular maintenance.
Rich, your impact on my life was wonderful and enthusiastic. You motivated me to take a week vacation to drive from Queens N.Y. to Chicago to meet you at the Dundee Ford auto show u sponsored on Memorial day 2021. I had a great time meeting you plus I sight saw Chicago, Milwaukee, drove past Chrysler plant then drove to Detroit and visited Ford F150 factory/ Henry Ford museum. For me, it was the trip of a lifetime which u prompted so yes, friends to the end my man. Looking forward to second trip to see you this spring in my legendary 1997 Toyota Camry. Be blessed!!!!
Lincoln is 100 years old now. As of the other day. Love this car. No matter the stuff I gotta fix, it’s all worth it to me. May hear it from my gf or other people that it may not be. But to me, it’s the best car.
I bought an 07 Grand Marquis last year with 42k miles. Love the car. It's currently parked for the winter but I can't wait for the weather to clear up so I can go on some road trips in it!
I just bought an ‘05 Grand Marquis with 96k miles on it. It doesn’t look the best and it’s in need of some TLC, but everything works on it. Exhaust manifolds are next. I’m a cop and my first experience with the Panther platform was the CVPI in the academy and then as my first patrol car. love the panther cars, they never should have stopped making them.
The Town Car has always been the best car, on the road. My family had a Ford store from 1937-2004. My dad drove those from 82 until the day he died in 2016. I drove Crown Vics.
It’s so funny Rich how all the cars I’ve been coveting for years and years that nobody ever paid attention to in the past, are now all of sudden being highly sought after or are finally being acknowledged as great cars to own for a very long time. I always knew how awesome the Panther Town Cars were, specifically the older ones from the 80’s and early to mid 90’s. I used to own a 93 TC which was buttery smooth and felt like driving a living room on wheels. I really liked that car but sold it due to a lot of electrical things not working anymore such as the Power door locks, bad window switches/motors, blend door actuator failure, bad power seat motor, and control arm bushing failure not to mention the paint was fading badly. I feel like the interior quality of the Town Cars suffered greatly from the 98 redesign-2002 but improved greatly in 2003 on up. My father owned a 2001 TC Cartier L edition, but the car aged badly. Front door panels fell off the door, broken door handles, creaking noises from the dash, arm rest and other plastic trimmings. The interior looked terrible with his TC only having around 130,000 miles on it. Bad paint fade and peeling apart cloth top. Besides for interior quality concerns, mechanically these cars are solid. These were the BEST most RELIABLE cars that Ford has ever made. The platform was robust, and solid being B-O-F. They are simply durable cars that with basic maintenance last forever. The old school way of building things was the best IMO. All the big luxury cars from the 50’s-70’s including Lincoln’s, were over built and made to last. All the modern new cars don’t even come close to the riding comfort of the old full framed Lincoln’s. You can’t achieve the same kind of riding smoothness and low NVH levels from a FWD unibody vehicle vs a full framed RWD vehicle. Plus FWD cars are cheaper to make for automakers. I also miss the plush thickly padded soft sofa like seating in the Town Cars as well. Today, new car seats are rock hard, stiff and use barely any foam padding. I would keep that TC going forever if I were you Rich. You prob won’t find anything new made today that will be just as reliable today like your TC, especially with Fords Ecoboosting all of its engines. Still not a fan of turbo charging tiny displacement engines. I doubt most of them will last beyond 200K miles let alone 300-400K like a 4.6L Ford Mod motor can easily pull off.
Love these cars .just drove from Jackson Michigan to union city Tennessee non stop in my 1998 Lincoln Town car with 147000 miles on the clock. No problems.
The 4.6 in those things were just bulletproof. I was managing municipal fleets when those were selling as Crown Vics. Cops loved em. Plenty of horsepower and very reliable. Lots of room up front. Perps got a nice ride too.
I got a 2011 TC w/ 29k miles (so it's pretty much brand new) and i intend on keeping the car as long as I find parts and gas is still around. I had a 2009 and sold it to a relative, she now has 139k miles on it. Everything works, she only had to change an airbag which was leaking within almost 4 years of ownership and around 35k miles of driving. Love these cars.
Same gear I put in the 2007 mustang gt. Love the 373. I bought the ford racing gear and the install kit. I’ve bought Richmond gears before but man they would drive you crazy with the whine. Those ford racing gears are super quiet. Every gear change I do now will definitely be with the ford gears. Those town cars are nice man.
Love how you’re so passionate this seemingly “boring” vehicle as many people would say. People say similar when I tell people my dream car is a 2001-2005 Lexus IS300 and when I finally got a chance to buy one a few months ago I was ecstatic.
Thanks for the video man, I subscribed to your channel not to long ago, but you're the reason why I finally got one an 07 limited with 110 k, great history on it, I had always wanted one since they came out with the third generation, it took me all this time but finally I got it. Thank you sir and keep them videos coming. Be blessed brother.
I love a similar car that isn't so common anymore. I think they were the best ever made and that's my opinion. The Box Chevy Caprice's, specifically 86-90. I owned about 8 in my life, maintenanced all myself, slightly modified a couple, bit they were all great, and they would drive any distance any day, no problems.
Your truth , intelligence, humility and respect. That’s why I watch and love your channel. I comment with stooped shit some times. I mean no disrespect. I wish I had just one friend of your caliber. 😎
There is a lot of love for Town cars across the globe. I have the 06 blue signature just like you and its been a true joy for 3 years. I just turned 70,000 miles. I have spent a fair amount on preventive fluid [diff, transect] changes, water intrusion, and recently replaced the entire air system, but for a 16 year old, how can you complain.? I can sell it now for close to what I got in it. Every time I get in the car I smile. Im in hurry to get anywhere, very relaxing.
Very lucky to have found a garage-kept, driven by an older couple, 2001 Town Car with low miles AND then found this channel. THANK YO,U, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge and experience with these GREAT cars!
Yes I agree the last of the big Rear Wheel drive sedans by Ford are best cars built. Especially the reliability of that engine which numerous limousine fleets have with 500K to 700,000+ miles on them. Just amazing how a gasser can go that long without major engine repairs. 1 guy on here shows his Crown Vic that has over 1 million miles on it. Oh BTW I don't know what gearing my 2011 GRand Marquis has & many won't believe this but I get 29-30MPG running a steady 79 MPH on the interstate with this thing. Amazing for a V8
Great cars, I am a huge fan of the modular 2 valve engines and 4r70w transmissions. I also give a nod to the fox body platform Thunderbirds 1983-1988 . 3.8l engine got a bad rap for head gaskets, but so easy to work on. My 88 Thunderbird 3.8l had 250k hard miles on it.
I don't have a Lincoln but I love my 98 Grand Marq. I bought it 2 years ago as a daily driver to keep miles off my F150 and to be honest I'd rather drive the GM than my truck. I average 350 miles a week and have changed all fluids and filters from bumper to bumper, replaced the intake, plugs, plug wires, idler, tensioner, belt, shocks, ball joints, fuel sending unit, and that bitch of a blend door actuator. The car hasn't been a trouble free as yours but it sat for a a lot for a very long time and I think sitting there did more to age it than driving it. I've got 163K on it and it floats like a cloud and runs better than anything else in my driveway. I've done several other things to keep it "right" that were not required but wanted. My only regret is not getting one sooner. You've got a very nice car and it's easy to see why you enjoy it so much.
@@NewEdgeDesigns yeah I got a 2010 town car same color as his bone stock though except the gearing I had axle noise and rebuilt it and had a friend of mine at Ford reprogram the computer so speedo is correct abs etc no issues might have been fine without that but had it done anyway
I'm with you Rich, you will never be able to beat a panther platform because manufacturers make nothing as reliable as that today and never will again. I love my Panthers. When my mechanic replaced the exhaust manifolds on my 2003 Grand Marquis a couple years ago he used the doorman manifolds and studs but with original motorcraft gaskets. Sometimes expressing your admiration for the Ford Panther platform on UA-cam is a good way to start a fight. 😉
I have a 99 MGM and it has been the best car i have ever owned. picked it up 5 years ago for $800 with 96,000 on it. two years ago I got a 2012 taurus SHO and it ended up being the worst car I had ever owned. It lived at the ford dealer for the entire year I owned it for warranty work. The dealer put over 10,000 into it. timing chains, water pump, turbos front and rear, control arm bushings, brakes, heater core, windshield washer pump, shocks, sunroof leak from pinching the drain line from the heater core being done. multiple leaks from the the new turbo. "Took it back 4 times for turbo leaks" while it was there an employee backed into the door and another time and employee hit the rack and took a chunk out of the wheel and tire. they always had it for months at a time. I only put 4,000 miles on it in a year and a half that I had it. The last time I got it back I lost the love for it and so I sold it. I kept my $800 MGM and haven't looked back.
I love your Lincoln. I’m an maintenance junkie too. I don’t push my oil past 3500 miles. You also charged my views about dealerships too. I’ll see you when you’re free.
02 Crown Vic LX with 227K miles, I believe it's ready for another 200k mile journey if not more. Everything stock, but that's how I like it, but maybe I'll change something up this year. In my opinion, the Panther platform is the best car ever made.
Sweet bro. Have a 2000 Cartier black …I’m in love just hit 96,000 super clean and I will spare no expense…fully tuned bro. Paid 3 k out the door and spend around 3000 brining it back to full strength and it’s sweet might make a video.
I’m having the engine replaced in my 2001 Town Car at 173k miles, due to a defective aftermarket fuel pressure regulator leaking into the vacuum lines. Washed out my main bearings and hydro-locked the engine. Swapping in an engine from an 04 Grand Marquis that has 50,100 miles. Kinda pissed because I just did timing chains, guides, oil pump, and new intake a year ago on the original engine. If I had the room in my own garage I’d be swapping it myself, but it’s been in the shop now since December 3rd. They broke a bunch of stuff attempting to replace the engine, so I’m making them fix all of it correctly. Biggest headache I’ve experienced is a shitty engine swap with this car, plus I paid them up front for the work. They tried to shove the engine in without swapping the oil pan, and pickup tube, after I specifically told them to do. New parts were in the trunk. Crushed my brake lines in the process. Only thing they swapped onto the donor engine was my new intake and fuel rail. I wanted a newer 03-2014 version of the PI heads that more spark plug threads, that’s why I opted for the engine from an 04. Hopefully they’ll swap over my oil pan correctly, fix the brake lines, all the stuff they broke, and I’ll be back in business soon.
The Crown Vics and Marquis were penny for penny the best sedans for 20 years straight. The Lincoln Town car took those platforms to a higher level. I think most all mechanics would agree with you about the those land. yachts!!!
You've done alot of wrk bro!! I've still got some mods to do, gonna wait till we're done with winter, she's in the garage for now... Come see you this spring!!
I have a 2005 LTC. It's at 280k. The only car that can compete is a Toyota. I bought it May 2021 with 266k. I got rid of the air spring bc of the climate I live in. I had to replace oil valve gasket and replaced a ignition coil. I have to replace upper control arms and wheel bearings. Other then that just regular maintenance. I owned a 2001 Ls 430 before this car. Rwd cars are supreme. Thanks for the heads up on Dorman parts. I use to work for a Limo company in Vegas. I hated when they got rid of their whole TC fleet.
I do my transmission fluid every 35,000km (22,000mi) currently. Considering i'm using full synthetic instead of mineral, it's probably a bit overkill, but it shifts crisp & firm even at 260,000km (161,000mi). Kickdown happens almost instantly without any delay if i need the passing gear. I think in 260,000km/161,000mi it's had roughly 7 transmission services with the strainer replaced or cleaned every 3rd service. The fluids still bright red every service but hey. The Aisin A541E in one of my cars don't run a regular type filter, so it's a serviceable item.
I just saw a 1997 Lincoln Town car for sale on craigslist in Jacksonville Florida for 3g's.... I really want to trade my 97 Toyota Camry for it. On the fence because the t.c. deserves to be in a garage to be preserved...
Those Lincolns also Mercury Grand Marquis that Year are EXCELLENT VEHICLES!!!!!! Can't understand why they quit making them, Guess they last Too long!!!!!!
And too expensive to build with body on full frame construction and rear-wheel drive configuration. They can churn out unibody cars with front-wheel drive for much less and then charge the consumer more to really increase profit margin.
I like my Town Car 2003 had it for 3 months now. Suddenly my cruise control stopped working. I have no idea what to do. Finally I am back to v8 rear wheel drive after 18 years of a v6. This will probably be the last car I will own. I lucked out is was dealer kept. Just changed oil and trans fluid. 144,000 on it looks like inside and out. Executive model. I has the long wheel base it just fit in garage misses door by 1/2. The car practically drives it's self. I always get dressed up when i drive just for the fun of it.
I have a 2004 with 141,000 original miles and I also replaced the drivers door defrost mirror simple to do i haven't had no leaks no rust but I also live in Texas not Chicago
Hi FBM: I have followed your great instructional videos during 2 month, but I have not seen this video and what you are talking here is one of the desired upgrades I want to make it to my 2003 Signature on 18 inch wheels, but I have a doubt and I want to know if you or one of your viewers can clarify for me. 2003-2011LTCar are 17x7 ET(Offset) 54mm, and the nearest perfect fit, set, look etc. that I know on Panther Platform is the 18x8 ET(Offset) 50mm by the 2003-04 Mercury Marauder and the second options that came from 2000-06 Mustangs 18x8 ET50mm -18x8.5 ET50mm. BUT THE PERFECT TIRE FOR THE TCar have to be 225/55/18. THE REASON I SAY THIS IS BECAUSE I PUTTED A MUSTANG WHEEL 18X8 ET44MM and the wheel was too near to the fender edges front and rear and with the 225/55/18 tire in some moment the tire would shocked or would scratched the fender edges. I AM GOING ON 18 WHEELS FOR MY TOWN CAR. IF YOU OR ONE OF YOUR VIEWERS CAN CLARIFY THIS FOR ME,THAT SOMEBODY HAS TESTED AN 18 WHEEL WITH ET50MM I SHALL APPRECIATE FOR THAT HELP ABOUT IF THOSE RUN PERFECT AND DO NOT SCRTCH NOTHING TO FENDER SIDE OR INSIDE. Note---(but there some persons that like that the car looks taller and use the tire that came original factory in the rear of some Marauders I think is 235/60, I know that is taller than the 225/55 on 18 wheels)---(Bigger wheels for 2003-11 TCars 19inch 19x8 ET50mm, 18x8.5 ET45mm and 20x8 ET45mm, don't have the tire size)
Looking at 2 Lincoln Town Cars, WHAT WOULD YOU GET? Both look almost new, great condition. 2005 Lincoln Town Car Sig Limited with 117,000 miles -Started life as rental, but last 10 years old lady Service records every 4,000 miles! 2006 Lincoln Town Car Sig Limited with 107,000 miles -2 owners but again old lady with perfect Carfax maintenance records. Want to most reliable as want to drive about 200K on it and have my Daughter also have access to the car for trips.
I myself had 106,467 miles when I bought it in Jan 2015 I put Lil over 80,000 in 5 years general matainence intake manifold high output alt for my car audio which I did myself batt changed air bags to springs fail safe thermostat serpentine belt ceramic brakes front back Kenwood 7 in touchscreen oil change trans change coolant change that bout it rich...
I bet that was a comfy ride . Probably pretty cheap on the market even with low miles ? Most of those types of cars are . Expensive new ,, and very fair priced 10 to 15 years later with good miles . I’ve shopped quiet a bit online looking at 2005 to 2010 Grand Marquees . Very dependable, smooth , and priced nice
What a about intake manifolds with the intergraded gasket on the manifold? I had a 09 with 68k miles. It was my first "real" car. Before that I only drove clapped out pre 1990s cars. I don't know what it is about that Lincoln but I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. It felt bubbly and hard to see out of (compared to the skinny pillar cars from the late 80s I'm used to driving). I also had horrible luck with the car, it kept getting banged up while it was parked. I ended up selling it and putting the money I got from it into my little 91' Volvo wagon. I really prefer the openess and cheaper insurance. Not to mention gas mileage. I also love having real bumpers that i don't have to worry about people marking up while the car is parked.
Hey Rich, I can't isolate a minor howl noise that manifests itself after the engine warms up. Using stethoscope, whine seems equally on alternator and water pump. Both operating ok. Any suggestions? 96k and will be selling soon when new Maverick arrives if you know of any interested buyers. Thx.
Hi new sub. This is my first video watching you. Thanks for sharing. What can you recommend for removing the bolts that hold the seats down!? I would like to wash the carpet to reinstall the seats. And see were the leak is coming from. I have a 2007 signature. Thanks again.
Steering shaft was replaced under warranty years ago back in 2009 The intake is the original - I added a ground cable to minimize electrolysis and cut down on the chance of the leak ( see video on this one )
While these are great cars, I think the Grand Marquis is better because it's everything good about the Town Car but minus a lot of the extra complexity and electronics if you get a GS. A Grand Marquis is a couple hundred pounds lighter on its feet, too. I owned a Town Car for 9 years and loved it, but now I have a '97 Grand Marquis and it is just more simple, less to go wrong, less to fix, while retaining all the great things about the Town Car.
You have a short vid I guess it’s called about you asking about folks daily driver with pic of your blue car I was going to reply to that post but wife called and now can’t find it would your send link THANKS
allways loved the panther cars.perhaps im just too "old school".i thought ford was crazy to discontinue them, when at the time ford owned the fleet market due to lack of compitition of the other brands.just goes to show.in todays corperate world, pride in ones accomplishment & product is forced to take a back seat to maximize profit.they were way too reliable for fords upcoming fix it constantly for profit policy, which is now in full operation for the forseeable future.but once its in effect, there is no turning back.too much $ to be made from the average "do no research" consumer.
I've done these and I do them in my sleep so for me it's not that big a deal because that's my profession I work on a lot of these all the time and I know some tricks to

I bought new a 78 2dr ht Caprice. Wish I kept. You don't see the 2dr's any more.
@@garygraycar5751 Even in their day they were rare to see
Your truth , intelligence, humility and respect.
My 89 Grand Marquis was the same baby blue as your Lincoln. I was rolling with the 5.0. I really want one of these Lincoln's. I like yours alot. 🙂🐶
The 4.6 is a great motor…I didn’t realize the town car had the 3:27s from the factory…
Yeah and it sucks he is right the 373 so much more drivable on backroads
@@TheMechanicj I might be going that route this summer..
@@NewEdgeDesigns yeah I got a 2010 town car same color as his bone stock though except the gearing I had axle noise and rebuilt it and had a friend of mine at Ford reprogram the computer so speedo is correct abs etc no issues might have been fine without that but had it done anyway
@@TheMechanicj lol you should try the 2.73 in the grand marquis
@@abo6n7l98 no thanks I like to be able to outrun little old lady’s at the gym
Good morning Boss love my 95 mark iiiv 119000 miles you car is sweet also. Be safe
I think most all mechanics would agree with you about the those land. yachts!!!
Its hard to beat the ride of a lincoln town car.
BLESS YOU!
26 mpg highway thats really good!
You've done alot of wrk bro!! I've still got some mods to do, gonna wait till we're done with winter, she's in the garage for now... Come see you this spring!!
Small things
Love hearing about the upgrades planned!
Regarding the door hinge replacement I do have a motorcycle jack that i intend to use to lift door and support
The only cars I've owned I've had 4 marquis and a LTD Crown vic. My favorite cars ever
I just saw a 1997 Lincoln Town car for sale on craigslist in Jacksonville Florida for 3g's.... I really want to trade my 97 Toyota Camry for it. On the fence because the t.c. deserves to be in a garage to be preserved...
Get it
If you can take the fuel bills, it’s worth it from what I’ve heard.
Very nice!
I change the trans fluid in my superduty and any other vehicle I own every 30,000 miles. Too many People commonly forget about the trans.

Not cheap anymore
They are highhhhhh now
Nice. Very interested in the pro charger mod you have planned.
The intake doesn't help much and actually helps retain heat
Hey Rich, I can't isolate a minor howl noise that manifests itself after the engine warms up. Using stethoscope, whine seems equally on alternator and water pump. Both operating ok. Any suggestions? 96k and will be selling soon when new Maverick arrives if you know of any interested buyers. Thx.
I know alot of possible interest lol
I have had alternators do this
I remember when vehicles were bullet proof.
Do I want to pull the dash out to replace the mode door actuators, or do I just live without floor venting? 2006 with 157K.
Hi new sub. This is my first video watching you. Thanks for sharing. What can you recommend for removing the bolts that hold the seats down!? I would like to wash the carpet to reinstall the seats. And see were the leak is coming from. I have a 2007 signature. Thanks again.
Omg it's a total nightmare to remove the floor pan bolts
Look at my towncar aftermarket heated seat install....I had to drill them out
@@FordBossMe ok. Thanks.
Do they have drag strips near Chicago and if so will you ever take the Lincoln there?
Omg yes and yes we will
you should have joined Vitaliy's and my collab on Crown Vic vs Town Car
can't wait for you to hit 50k and get that supercharger!!
Don't use Dorman Mirrors :(. Mine looks blurry or a bit distorted.
Any problems with intake manifold or steering shaft linkage?
Steering shaft was replaced under warranty years ago back in 2009
The intake is the original - I added a ground cable to minimize electrolysis and cut down on the chance of the leak ( see video on this one )
Like you said " you think" it's an opinion based thing

allways loved the panther cars.perhaps im just too "old school".i thought ford was crazy to discontinue them, when at the time ford owned the fleet market due to lack of compitition of the other brands.just goes to show.in todays corperate world, pride in ones accomplishment & product is forced to take a back seat to maximize profit.they were way too reliable for fords upcoming fix it constantly for profit policy, which is now in full operation for the forseeable future.but once its in effect, there is no turning back.too much $ to be made from the average "do no research" consumer.
Or the average stupid sheep consumer who only reads the research that fits their mindset.
