I hope he does more of these i just sparred for the first time (1 hour of sparring) and ended it with 3 bloody noses, a video on blocking muay thai and what to do when getting punched a bunch would be amazing
I’m a beginner and can’t quite figure out sparring yet! This video was very helpful!! I like the conceptual stuff, I need to understand the “why” behind the actions and decisions. Thank you Shane!!
This was great. So many videos out there on tactics (do this combo! 5 ways to do X!) and not enough on strategy The entry - attack - exit is a really simple way to think about how to engage smartly. Thanks for that
I love this channel, can't believe that this channel got me into fighting😂 when I started watching i was a fat teenager hahaha. Now I have my first mma pro debut soon, thanks for the inspiration you gave me for all those years Shane, keep going with the good work!
I remember i saw your videos from just fb videos. One video i watched from you, years ago, i learned for myself was to keep a mouth piece on me. Crazy but it helped me on nights out.
Wow Shane! Your videos are so helpful for beginners, and more seasoned Martial Artists. Whenever one finds they need some advice on something unexpected they ran into in a sparring session, you have great advice on what one can learn from the experience and what one can do differently in the future. Thank you! 🙏😊⛩♥
Extremely helpful thank-you so much. I deal with some very fast and accurate teepers at sparring every week and i struggle against them every time. I just end up in defense because they're so fast that they use them as feints to make distance and catch me and i just shell up and exit every time, extremely annoying. I will try to learn to implement what you have taught here.
I knew you'd come back every time I use the search engine for fighting related fight tips is always no. 1 Really good to see ys though I knew you would cone back
Beginners? Dude this as basic as it may seam is actually very advanced tips/concepts. Techniques can be as crisp as they may be but without these advanced “fundamentals” your striking is still novice. Another great vid bro 😎👊🏼✊🏼
Somthing that helped me was thinking about my combos like I’m setting up the last shot, like for example the jab cross hook combo. In my eyes jab cross are throw always, the hook is the only shot I’m trying to actually land. Of course if the jab cross lands to then your golden.
I got countered with some bombs in a fight on Sunday. I was initialising, delivering my attack but not exiting. I nearly got knocked out and my eye and side of my head doubled in size. My corner picked me up on not exiting. I won the last round but the damage was done. I lost. This is great advice, thanks Shane.
Use the probes to see how they defend that attack and more importantly, what do they leave vulnerable when defending that attack. Then feint your probe and go for the vulnerability.
I think something of note that would help not only Devin but a lot of newer people is stay in your stance. A proper stance with an understanding of distance. Also I Prefer to parry the teep the opposite way. From top down swinging inside scooping the teep out of the hollow body. Again stance can make or break your fight. Took me to long to realize that.
I thaught this vidio was going to be about confidence and public speaking. I guess knowing how to throw hands brings confidence? So... mma builds the corporate world!
Dude, love your vids. I’m kinda old and am a disabled vet. Been my dream of learning how to box but I’m broken. Did you ever make a workout vid to get broken slobs like me to get into shape to mitigate injury while training?
The bubble/sphere that you imagine around yourself was actually something I heard about from an anime believe it or not. The Seikuken. Something else I want to try (which is easier than theory than in practice) is also imagine one around my opponent representing their estimated range of motion too, but I don't have any sparring opportunities to try it and see if it's practical
be aware of how long it takes to become a black belt. it should take years and not be easy...if it's quick and easy then you're probably in a bad gym. Also make sure your instructor has proven himself - does he demonstrate the technique properly? Does he spar and show how his skill without even hurting anyone? What are his credentials other than just claiming to be a black belt? Look for his history and whether he fought, who he trained with etc.
@@willsmith8927 the reason i focused so much on the gym and the coach is because they are the most important. if they are good - then you can trust their advice. One other thing is you should do kickboxing and wrestling to get a rounded game. I only do kickboxing so I know i'll be fucked if someone catches my leg and takes me to the ground
Never think that you have learned or mastered anything. Keep working and grinding. If you want success going to your club/gym isn't enough, home sessions are a must. Be open to any criticism, ask your coaches, friends, sparing partners or people on the Internet. Pick up everything from a different fighter, you will create your own style eventually, don't try to mimic someone else's style completely because we are all different. Competitions and success will come on its own, the hardest part is training. As my coach says, You earn the medal in the gym, and then you just go to take it.
Shane i have a question, can i have like more styles but like one main, i like style mike tyson (peek a boo) that is my main, but i really like muhammad ali style, soo i have a question can i have more styles for boxing. Thanks:D sorry for bad english.
Man ! This video is SO GOOD. So technical, and at the same time to easy to great and it makes a ton of sense. Keep up the great work 🙌🏼🔥

So how is it?
I actually thought this was an old video recommended because of the hair
Shane is the ultimate underdog
So basically, grab the teep and shoryuken. Got it
Perfect explanation 👌
Very good snippet of what should've been an hour-long video. Good stuff
I've always struggled with defense against a teep 😭. Thank you Shane for pulling through once again!

When your so early that you find out that Shane is rockin the same hairstyle as me
That was best jab i've ever seen so satisfying
Great video Shane! Really breaking down sparring techniques to ensure the greatest success. Very crucial for any practicing martial artist!
Ha ha lovein the ponytail bring back the dreadlocks
And always great video
Cool video, I strongly believe there's a counter for every strategy in mma, you just gotta identify the strategy then implement the counter.
