Yeah I know, it wasn't exactly along the 5 minute mark, forgive me. Monday happen to be crazy, here's hoping for a more chill and less mishappy Teusday.

We’ve always had an amazing relationship with the local Hutterite colonies in our area (Southern Alberta), my grandpa would go visit his bestie at the colony and the ladies would take me around and let me help them around their homes or I’d play with the kids, definitely some of my best memories. And we’d get sent home with lots of delicious goodies and homemade items, I learned a lot about how to take care of my own home and family from them. I love your videos so much! 💜

I don’t know why this video popped into my feed, but I’m glad it did! Our family lived in Swift Current, Saskatchewan for 4 years from 1987 - 1991. We once visited a Hutterite colony not too far from our home. It was very interesting and the people were extremely friendly and showed us around. I look forward to watching more of your videos! I love your sense of humor!!
When you said The “potaters” 🥔🤦♂️😂😂that cracked me up. It was random and some may not have caught that, but I did. I do that stuff all the time😂I’m 23 and I’m a Pentecostal Holiness minister from the hills of West Virginia, and to see other young people, such as yourself, live a holy life and show what it means to come out from among the world and be a separate people, makes me smile. You show that it’s fun to be a Child of God. Well, didn’t mean to say all that, I was just gonna comment on the “potaters”😂but I’m glad I did. God Bless ya🙏👍thanks for the smiles and laughs.

I've done that before when I am multi tasking. I would be sweeping , mopping, doing laundry then start soaking dishes and start cleaning the rugs and somewhere I forget to turn off the water. My son was able to see it in time before it ran over and turns it off but yeah you keep going...lol

I once let the water overflow in sterilization at an orthodontic office I worked at. I came back to find water allll over the floor. Not my finest moment. Nice to know that I'm not alone! Haha!

My in-laws live in NB Canada. They make something very similar to your potato recipe. Using a wash board they smash the raw potatoes . Now here there is different ways. What I remember is to put them in balls and sometimes they would put a bit of meat in the middle. Then they would boil the potatoes in water. Another way is putting it in a 9x13 pan and baking it. Really I guess the only similarities would be using the raw potatoe and then washing it till it’s clear. They don’t have a machine like you had tho. It was interesting watching. Oh I think the dish was either poutine ra pae . Or we’ll shoot I don’t remember the other name I’m thinking of. 2 dishes she taught me and I can’t remember the names that was however like 30+ years ago.
That fish bun plate looked soooo yummy! And yes just a few months ago someone forgot to turn the bathroom sink off. First the cabinet drawers filled then overflowed and ended up with about a quarter inch of water on the floor plus whatever went down the floor vent😫😂 LIFE🙃

Wow! I’m smacking my lips! You Hutterites eat good! You also remind me of my wife in the kitchen. She is a fantastic cook and also makes a living in the food industry. But she is always spilling things, dumping them out by accident and making a mess.😄

Your variety of kitchen appliances is amazing.
Your Knedl are similar to a Linthanian dish we adopted called cepelinai. A dumpling of riced and grated potato with either meat, cheese, or mushroom mixture in the middle. It tastes wonderful.

Working in a kitchen I've flooded the floor many times. Thank God there are drains around. I would rinse out chicken wings and let the water run but NOT leave the drain open. Then I'd walk away ..
where did your colony buy that cart from? It would be a blessing in my garden.
Two people couldn't smell the fantabulous aroma off the fish and chips but it's ok . The colony ate well !!!
Never mind my previous question, I see you are on a commercial farm. By the way I used to work in a factory that used large industrial washing equipment. The water in the machines had to be changed every month or so. They held hundreds of gallons. There was nobody in the shop that hadn't forgot the water was running and flooded the warehouse, including me. So yes it happens a lot.
You keep this up and you’ll pass up my sub numbers by far! You live up north, but still say potaters! 😂 SO SOUTHERN!!!

The Knödel are made like Thüringer Klöße - in the main parts. Maybe the german recipe got modified over the centuries. I'd really like to taste them!

@@adinawalter5358 ha....I wish we were! I know my uncles say we departed from Amish roots and I know they way my grandparents raised their family is very similar to the way you guys live. We do not speak German though only English so it was some time since then! My grandpa left his family in the US and came to Canada alone and they worked very very hard by themselves. I know my aunts said they would of likely returned to the US but thinks they couldn’t afford to go back after leaving and going so far away.

Yes...on Sunday we just have a light dinner/lunch

Hi, yes, We eat breakfast at home all the time, and supper is cooked at home on the weekends.

That’s interesting! Why not serve brk communally too? I would love that as mom-go get ur oatmeal boys, while I finish nursing the baby and then bathe the 3yo who wet the bed. Dad will take u so he can eat before he goes work where ever.

Simmer the gizzards in water alot of onion salt and pepper to taste. When they are soft approximately 3 hours later. Thicken with flour and gravy base. Let boil until it's like a gravy

We safe them and one day of the week we will have leftovers. One big smorgasbord. But only leftovers from the same week .Waste not want not .motto

Dropping the fish in the oil like that triggers me. When you drop it in the oil drop it closer to the oil so it doesn't splash in your eyes.

In New Zealand, the midday meal is called lunch though some people might say Sunday dinner and mean lunch. The evening is either dinner or tea. Supper to me is the before bed snack such as a hot drink and a couple of biscuits.....this might just be a 'staying at grandparents' or 'school camp' kind of thing

I have a way easier way to make knedel but our ladies still like the old fashioned way of doing it.....
Put about 2 inches or more...one less, eyeball it the first time....press it down evenly and "cut it" into pieces you prefer with a scraper.
Voila, you have knedel.
Btw, we have never stood ours on their heads....lol

1. knödel is the only word one can understand when you speak German. the rest of the "German" stuff you said in other videos, was NOT German. ( das war absolut unverständliches Kauderwelsch, alles und nicht) sorry. please do not say: in German ist called..., if you can not speak German! . your Knödel. are not German Knödel! the original you are making is called halb und halb ( half and half). it means you need half uncooked and half cooked together. but you do not wash it potatoes out of all starch. and you do not put flour in it.. important: floury potatoes ( mehligkochend) and the yellow of the egg. some people put toasted white breat in the Knödel, just. tiny bit look at the link I give you. at min 20 it start the recipe für Knödel : ua-cam.com/video/5atyD7pedoc/v-deo.html. greetings .
