Seriously, as someone who has had multiple wisdom tooth infection/removals and how hard it was to try to see in the back of my mouth to apply medication using my phone light, I immediately loved that idea and now I need one. Edit. I am 100% getting that first aid kit too. Everyone needs to have at least one first aid kit, either at home or in the car whatever. You never know when you might need it.

It is our duty to stop and help when needed but in the US helping can cause as much trouble as not helping. It really is a hard thing to deal with. Depends on where in the country you live. In the Southeast people will stop in a heart beat. Other places you do not want to be on the side of the road.
I have seen an ear inspection wand thing around for years very similar concept as the throat scope. It's plastic disposable that sinks into a base that makes it light up. It's only in medical places because you're not supposed to put anything in your ear like that.

@@stansman5461 Almost no materials get washed amd sterilized anymore in the medidal field except at the gynocologists office and at the dentist. Unfortunately the process of having to sterilize things properly and then pack them up and date them is simply not economical in compare to just using one way use tools. And while I could definately see this thing being used at the dentists place or pediatric office, I think it wouldn't be worth the price difference in hospitals and at the gp where I'm working.
The throat scope greatly reminds me of the HD scanner from the movie “the pursuit of happiness’”. The father is selling a medical scanner that’s a lot more HD than regular scanners regulated in the hospitals at that time, but no doctor is purchasing his scanner because its a lot more expensive than the existing scanner the hospitals already have. This lady is basically is in that scenario, her product is innovative and a lot more expensive than regular wooden sticks, but she is successful at the end of the day.
It was actually getting it into the hands of doctors that made it so successful. The K-mart deal kept them going, but every single doctor I know (and it's a lot) has fallen in love with the Throat Scope the first time they used it. It was just a matter of getting it into their hands.
This is how sharktank should be before and after. Smart entrepreneurs and successful results. I hope the series comes back again, even if they look at the previous investments.

It's a terrible product that does absolutely nothing to solve the problem of cancer. Instead of making some useless app that does nothing to help people with treating the cancer, How about them trying to find an actual cure for cancer ? Then maybe I wouldn't have lost my mom to this horrible disease.

On the Rescue Swag I really liked the scanner over the injury pic and video so you can see what to do and which item to use in the bag. Fabulous job on that imo.

The throat scope is an awesome idea that I think would work as a consumer product more than a professional product. I don't know how many times I've had something stuck in my teeth that I end up need into a torch/flashlight for that is super hard to position just to see where it is. It's a brilliant idea!
My only concern with the throat scope is the environmental impact. Like we already use tons of plastic and they just toss them away. While the wood sticks are reusable. I think somewhere I read about a process of making wood semi-transperent.
I’ve never heard of the wood sticks being reusable they usually get thrown away. I wood imagine wood would be harder to clean then plastic is. Bacteria and germs can penetrate into crevices in the wood.

The rescue swag will do well in America. Lots of outdoors activities, skiing, fishing, hiking, snowboarding, boating... But in businesses like the electric companies in all the trucks the linemen use. Near swimming pools inside a dry bag. Hunters would be an absolute fit for this product. Ill buy one.
the throat scope has some potential, but it has 4 huge issues. 1. wooden stick is made of wood so it has good traction so you can pull on the tongue, this plastic will slide all ove the place. 2. it shines blue so its harder to see discolorations etc, which is very important when examining throat (altho as i see they fixed it so it shines white now). 3. its not eco friendly because you have to throw it out after every use, thats shit ton of plastic. 4. it costs much much more than wood, and all you get in exchange is kids are not afraid of it. Pretty surprised this thing is sucessful tbh.

The number of parents who have children with tonsillitis, laryngitis etc. who don’t want to have to take their child into the doctor’s surgery or hospital unnecessarily is really high! A parent usually has to do this one handed, so yes, the domestic market is huge!

The problem that I see for that cavity device is that it is horrible for the planet. Single use, sturdy plastic. When a regular “popsicle stick” type is not only cheaper but made of totally compostable wood!
If the throat scope blades were reusable that product would be awesome. As a mom to 4 kids and a background in the medical field I still would not purchase that product... the blades need to be reusable. Paying $30.00 for that product would make sense if the blades could be washed and used again.

In India, we use either the wooden sticks or sterilizable metal ones, with a simple head mirror. Usually works just fine

As others in the comments have pointed out the business won’t do well if it’s reusable because it won’t be profitable after a certain point. If people are re-buying products their revenue is going to keep going up if not it will plateau.
