Someone has been watching DAS bookbinding.
You don't want to paste the tapes if you plan to round the back. If you don't plan on rounding, which you didn't, then don't worry about it, and paste everything. When applying the mull (which should be done after rounding) the entire back should get pasted including the tapes.
Can you please list the items you used for book binding in the video’s description?
bonefolder
glue (starch,pva,tile glue)
string for sewing
cloth stripes for sewing
papercutter-cutting mat-ruler-pencil
cardboard
bookcloth (bookbinding cloth,its a piece of cloth with paper on one side,used for book covers and whatnot)
bookbinding mesh for the spine

Very good mate.
May i suggest using a more sticky glue for the spine (tile glue is perfect) and adding 2 or 3 pieces of paper (grain on spine direction) on top of the mesh, it helps support the opening/closing of the book better
What kind of cloth can be used for this? Are there any fabrics commonly available that could be recycled for this?
bookbinding cloth can either be bought or made, its basically cloth on on side and paper on the other
Curious.. are u done make comic book binding? Would like to see u make some more comic book binding in future.

Thanks for sharing. I've been trying to copy your method. Problem is, the comics are still loose even if I'm pulling the strings really tight. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
Correct tension comes with practice/experience.
However, glueing an extra strip of paper to the comics spine after gluing the fabric mul on should help.

Great Vid. Question though, at 12:13 would those 1/2" gaps, between spine & covers, be fine if I'm trying to bind only 5 issues?
The 1/2 inch spacer is more about the thickness of the board being used rather than the thickness of the text block. so long as you are using 2.5-3 mm thick board that should be enough to cover the thickness of the spine piece and the grove to form the hinge.
