Clockwerk (stylized as CLOCKWeЯK) was a Eurasian eagle owl that was the leader of the Fiendish Five and arch-nemesis of the Cooper Clan. He was consumed by jealousy for the Cooper Clan's reputation as thieves and hated them to such a degree that he replaced his mortal body with soulless machinery just to keep up with them through time.

I actually came up with an interesting fan-theory about Penelope, if you would like to hear it. I haven't heard anybody else talk about it, and I personaly think it fits good into the actual plot of the fourth and third game

+VTNVIVI! Please consider this... In the last episode of Sly 3. When Carmelita and her squad is coming Sly to rescue and killing the big mutant that Dr. M created. In the end when Sly is dropped on the ground. Dr. M says: "He's just as dead as his father" (I translated it from my own language) then immediately after comes Bentley up to Sly and yells "He is still alive!". Could this be some sort of sign from Sucker Punch? That Sly's dad is still alive?

Hey VTNVIVI i thought about this in the 1st game clockwork was with the fendish five do you think clockwork hipnotize the other member to kill Slys parents cause for what i know the other members didn't hate the coped gang so why would they kill Slys parents and could just clockwork just kill them by himself?
Clockwerk used them for his scheme. Clockwerk could have killed them all by himself, but still wonder why he didn't. Clockwerk told everyone to rip out pages, harder for Sly to retrieve everything. Then again, he could've stolen the book and destroyed it completely!

Good theory man....If this is the road that Sanzaru and Suckerpunch are going with, then I will be surprised. One question remains though, HOW did Penelope figure this out and plan this on accident to have Clockwerk to be reborn (if she did it on accident I mean)? that is the only question I'm wondering.
Thanks! Reborn as in brought back? Or as in turned metal? If you mean turned metal, then maybe she time travelled and kept an eye on Clockwerk, you know just to analyse and see what she could work with. If Penelope is the one who turned Clockwerk into what he is accidentally (blimp crashing), then her coming back to her own time... A. nothing changed or B. The future changed. If Sly is still alive and well in the future, then Penelope's plan failed, Clockwerk still got defeated. Penelope might also get stuck in Ancient Egypt (theory part 1), let's say it was her destiny to get stuck and turn Clockwerk into what he is.
If the Contessa's Ancestry was involved with the creation of Clockwerk I think it would make sense story-wise because that could potentially explain why she is in the Klaww gang and ultimately resurrecting Clockwerk with Arpeggio and also like said in the video explain how she knew of Sly's lineage
It was stated by Arpeggio that the Klaww gang used the parts for their own criminal activities. What did Contessa know about the clan? Perhaps she knew a lot!
+VTNVIVI true dat true dat I did overlook that Arpeggio said that each member used their parts for their own plans but I feel that if The Contessa was smart enough to combine the Clockwerk eyes and a Mind Shuffler than she could easily figure it out. To put it short there's a lot more to the Contessa than what was shown in Sly 2
Maybe not all caracters in the Sly Cooper series have a big and important ancestor line... I mean it is impossible that every caracter is conected thrue time...

Confused? I'm more tired of hearing all these theories than confused with them. Still, I never knew the Sly series had so many major plot holes. But if they're not going to ever make Sly 5, then why should I bother talking about it anymore?!

Those "Hypnotic Eyes" were CLOCKWORK'S eyes. Just thought I'd point that out, not sure if you found that out yet, it's been awhile since you posted this video.
Since the Hate Chip acts like the "Fountain of Youth" explain by Clockwerk in Sly 1, what if the Chip was corrupted by Dark Magic after the Blimp crashed in Sly 4. Maybe the Chip wasn't filled with Hatred before, perhaps it was just a Chip that powers the Time Machine on the Blimp. Maybe after the Blimp crashed into Egypt, Clockwerk must of seen the crash happen and went to check out what it is, when he saw the broken Blimp, he went to see what it was. So when he found the Chip still in perfect condition, he took it and was going to show it to Slytunkhamen when the Chip interacted with some kind of cursed object (like a jewel or an idol of a dark being) which caused Clockwerk to change and morph into a Robot, that's when Clockwerk realized that he became smarter. He knew that he could live for all Eternally and will always live on by the power of Hatred against the Coopers and gained the power to Time Travel. Maybe it all took place before Sly woke up
Didn't I talk about the chip coming into contact with black magic :P? I think this could be a way of describing this mysterious chip. Plus, didn't Clockwerk's parts just break down when the chip got destroyed? Yup! That could maybe explain this whole idea about magic better!
What if Clockwerk is actually controlling Penelope to do all this so he can come back while Sly is alone more than likely and just kill him. Because remember "COOPER!! You will never be rid of me. Clockwerk...is...superior".
I would see it more as Penelope being manipulated. She finds a way to retrieve his mind and she makes him a new body. Clockwerk is reborn, but doesn't care about Penelope and just leaves.
what if clockwerk/clockla told the coopergang he/she was immortal because of the hatechip, so they would try to destroy it thinking they have beaten clockwerk?
you mention contessas ancestors but another prime character for ancestors is penelope, I mean look at her symbol it's incredibly similar to Slys. what if her family was famous for intelligence like the Coopers are for thieving. but another thing I want to mention in penelopes chapter in sly 4 clockwork was incredibly close to the castle the closest to the ground in any chapter what if penelope and clockwork talked when she went back in time for le paradox.
If Clockwerk secretly talked to Penelope, wouldn't that alter the future? Assuming she spoke to Clockwerk 1.0, her doing so could maybe change Sly's future. The way I see it is this, have you ever thought about what might've happened to Clockwerk's brain, maybe it survived? Could Penelope have found his brain? Would she put his brain in a new body, Clockwerk 2.0? If Penelope did create Clockwerk 2.0 with the ability to time travel, then her talking to him while he's time travelling could maybe make a bit more sense.
I have a theori. What if Sir Raleigh helped Clockwerk to become a robatic owl, he was the mechanical genious of the Findish Five. This might sound stupid, but it can be true
Sir Raleigh maybe took care of Clockwerk, to make sure his parts were still operational. Since he was the mechanical genious of the group, it could be possible. Sir Raleigh turning Clockwerk robotic? Who knows really, but was Raleigh smart enough to figure out time travel?

I don't think penelope made the time tunnel thing just to bring back Clockwerk. I think she still loved Bentley at that point. She probably knew that Clockwerk was the reason for Bentley's crippling, so wouldn't she just seal his fate? I don't think she would, because that's enabling a person she loves to get seriously injured.
Well, Clockwerk's beak fell and crushed Bentley's leg, that's how it happened. If she still loved Bentley, why try to kill his best friend with that giant robot? Could Penelope have been this evil person no one knew about?
It's clearly stated in the fourth game that she still loved Bentley but she thought Sly was holding him back. Maybe by going back in time she thought oh if I can improve him and alter the timeline Clockwork could kill Sly and Bentley could reach his full potential.
Okfangirl If Clockwerk succeeds, then wouldn't that cause Penelope to never meet the gang in the first place? Bentley wouldn't even know who Penelope is.
Which means she gets her way in some regards because Bentley's full potential is reached, which is what she wants. Bentley would probably be some sort of Steven Hawking of that universe and Penelope is smart enough to find him.
I still think Clockwerk is from the future, and was sent back in time somehow. I don't know he if has a lineage, and kinda hope he doesn't. Giving him one would be a retreat of Le Paradox's plot line. Instead, he might have been inspired by legendary criminals, and wanted to make a name for himself. Thus becoming immortal metaphorically. That may have made him want to become immortal physically. Why leave a name that will eventually fade away when you can exist forever and never be forgotten? As for the Hate Chip, it might have been initially designed for the Cooper of his era. Then, once in the past, he watched the Coopers of their eras. Seeing the skill of the past fueled his hatred and jealousy, which fueled the Hate Chip. Killing any one of them would have been easy for him, but he just watched instead. Perhaps bidding his time (no pun intended) for the perfect chance to strike.
Thanks for sharing! Clockwerk from the future doesn't sound too far-fetched. I went over it in one my theory videos. The way I see it is this, he got a one way ticket to Ancient Egypt, no turning back! He pretty much got stuck in ancient Egypt. In order to survive, he knew he had to watch and become jealous of the Coopers. I also believe he waited for the perfect time to strike, perhaps he killed the Coopers once they got kids? I mean Sly exists right? Either he didn't kill (''you Coopers always find a way to beat me" from Sly 1) or waited for the perfect time to strike.
I have a theory. I don't think anyone knows how old clockwerk is. Right? Now I'm gonna get a little off topic but it will all tie up in the end. So at the end of sly 3 dr m gets crushed by rubble. Well I think that he survives some how. Now back to clockwerk I think he was born at around the same time as sly then just lived a normal life up until the time of sly 3. I think that clockwerk gets to where dr m is somehow then dr m turns him immortal, allows him to time travel, and tells him to go back in time and spy on the coopers. I'm most likely wrong I didn't go on anything from the game I just strayed thinking of what might sound cool.

Maybe! But doing so can change the future! Before Sly 4 was released, fans had asked Sanzaru if Sly would visit his parents in Sly 4. It's tricky, doing so might affect Sly's future greatly.
I've been thinking about 1 of your videos that you made in Sly one when Clockwork is defeated remember how you said he spoke gibberish one of the words he says is feet together I've always thought but that one word could hint towards Clockwork having children it sounds like something apparent would say well apparent who is a bird telling his child who is just learning to fly to keep his feet together the flowers could have been something he was picking for his wife this is nothing new I think we're all assumed the Clockwork had children but it's one way they could go with it

My theory on why Clockwerk never killed the coopers kids but let them live OK here goes. Clockwerk needs hate to keep going that could't be the reason why he spared the kids but with sly he had something else in mind taking the book from him but still knowing that there is a cooper that he can hate but without the book he's no threat to him anymore
Clockwork migth have used alchemy to turn himself into metal and making him immortal and being able to be the greatest and most mysterious villan in sly copper
comparing theory/ would clock work's ancient Egypt ancestor would be framed and put in jail for steal something valuable to the pharaoh but as the same thing that happen in sly 4 where the last boss stole a diamond and his ego got the best of him and sly's father stole it before he can finished say how great he and got put in jail for breaking and entering and he blame the coopers for his lost and when back in time to change it all that happen to clock work's ancient Egypt ancestor but did or don't got put in jail in instead of going back in time he waited until the best time to attack the coopers like sly when he was a child and when he face him in the first game or other coopers in the time line in sly 1 hes says that the coopers all ways beat me so that means when he attacks the coopers he try to restore body parts to beat the coopers in which he try to take sly for once and for all and steals the Thievius Raccoonus and say the coopers are nothing with out that book /so it compares that they both clock work and the last boss in sly 4 have in common that they hated the coopers for stealing there victory so thats maybe there cursed for stealing things that don't belong to people weird huh.
Maybe the same thing happened to Clockwerk, one of his ancestors were caught stealing by and put behind bars, like you mentioned. His family was probably treated that way and because of that, Clockwerk always saw the Coopers as traitors.
What if clockwork and slytunkhamen grew up together on the streets and clockwork taught slytunkhamen how to be a thief. Then Slytunkhamen became famous for his skills and clockwork grew jealous and used his brain to slowly turn himself into a robot.

I doubt the hate chip alone was keeping him alive. He is also a bad guy. He can be lying just to make the coopers think something else. He is obviously a smart owl for the majority)
What if it's the other way around? He wanted to keep them alive for a specific time period. And why? Because he needs to be jealous, he needs it to fuel himself.

I saw your theory, but there is a big problem LeParadox was in jail most of his live which means that he couldn't do anything for clockwerk, but thats not really the problem, LeParadox wasn't the one with the time machine, it was penelope (who stole it from bentley), which brings multiple problems with your theory, but its not totally incorrect (personally i really dislike the clockwerk time traveller theory, cause it seems way too simple (or complicated) and it doesn't settle well with ME), by the way can you give feedback of my theory in the last video.

And Penelope stole the blueprints, Yes, but LeParadox payed someone to built it (he didn't built it himself (everything in the time machine was bentleys/penelope's plans), i wont bring any other of the time travel theories problems (at least for today (its really late)). Out of all this theory, I think the chip being equal part science and magic doesn't sound too far fetched. Clockwerk's body parts broke down once the hate chip got destroyed, maybe some sort of magic was keeping his body intact?

About your theory of Sly cooper ancestors being dicks. Not all of someone's family history is gonna be nice. I know someone who as a very nice brother and then their sister is bratty. Also "hatred Creates More Hatred" is a thing I believe as fact. In every story/real life a villain has had a horrible past and their hatred for the torture or greed consumed them because of it.
maybe just maybe the organic clockwork got organic eggs and when metallic clockwork turned into you know metal he went back in time to make his organic self from the past and turned it robotic and then the eggs were robotic and that was all the smaller clockwork s in thieves in time...
I love all your theories, I really want to believe in all of them. I wish some are true. But the problem here is that your theories are going too far, they're too much "good / well tough out " for the developers 😅 That just my opinion but look out sly 4, to me the game is a little desipointment ´cause the Time travel are a bit poorly done, paradox are inexistant and all the game is based on magical solutions (but I know that the game is for kids: so like I said, that just a opinion) I don't think that the futur sly 5 (If it see the light one day...) gonna be a real source of puzzles or we gonna say "wahooo that game was well tought " (Sorry if I don't explains myself better, it's just that I'm not english) 😅

Thanks! Reborn as in brought back? Or as in turned metal? If you mean turned metal, then maybe she time travelled and kept an eye on Clockwerk, you know just to analyse and see what she could work with. If Penelope is the one who turned Clockwerk into what he is accidentally (blimp crashing), then her coming back to her own time... A. nothing changed or B. The future changed. If Sly is still alive and well in the future, then Penelope's plan failed, Clockwerk still got defeated. Penelope might also get stuck in Ancient Egypt (theory part 1), let's say it was her destiny to get stuck and turn Clockwerk into what he is.

If the Contessa's Ancestry was involved with the creation of Clockwerk I think it would make sense story-wise because that could potentially explain why she is in the Klaww gang and ultimately resurrecting Clockwerk with Arpeggio and also like said in the video explain how she knew of Sly's lineage
It was stated by Arpeggio that the Klaww gang used the parts for their own criminal activities. What did Contessa know about the clan? Perhaps she knew a lot!
+VTNVIVI true dat true dat I did overlook that Arpeggio said that each member used their parts for their own plans but I feel that if The Contessa was smart enough to combine the Clockwerk eyes and a Mind Shuffler than she could easily figure it out. To put it short there's a lot more to the Contessa than what was shown in Sly 2

Confused? I'm more tired of hearing all these theories than confused with them. Still, I never knew the Sly series had so many major plot holes. But if they're not going to ever make Sly 5, then why should I bother talking about it anymore?!
I know it sucks, no one knows if Sly 5 will ever get made. In the meantime, why not speculate and come up with theories? The movie might perhaps encourage Sly 5. We might wait a while, but I'm sure we'll get a sequel one day, why leave a cliffhanger???

Since the Hate Chip acts like the "Fountain of Youth" explain by Clockwerk in Sly 1, what if the Chip was corrupted by Dark Magic after the Blimp crashed in Sly 4. Maybe the Chip wasn't filled with Hatred before, perhaps it was just a Chip that powers the Time Machine on the Blimp. Maybe after the Blimp crashed into Egypt, Clockwerk must of seen the crash happen and went to check out what it is, when he saw the broken Blimp, he went to see what it was. So when he found the Chip still in perfect condition, he took it and was going to show it to Slytunkhamen when the Chip interacted with some kind of cursed object (like a jewel or an idol of a dark being) which caused Clockwerk to change and morph into a Robot, that's when Clockwerk realized that he became smarter. He knew that he could live for all Eternally and will always live on by the power of Hatred against the Coopers and gained the power to Time Travel. Maybe it all took place before Sly woke up
Didn't I talk about the chip coming into contact with black magic :P? I think this could be a way of describing this mysterious chip. Plus, didn't Clockwerk's parts just break down when the chip got destroyed? Yup! That could maybe explain this whole idea about magic better!
What if Clockwerk is actually controlling Penelope to do all this so he can come back while Sly is alone more than likely and just kill him. Because remember "COOPER!! You will never be rid of me. Clockwerk...is...superior".
I would see it more as Penelope being manipulated. She finds a way to retrieve his mind and she makes him a new body. Clockwerk is reborn, but doesn't care about Penelope and just leaves.

you mention contessas ancestors but another prime character for ancestors is penelope, I mean look at her symbol it's incredibly similar to Slys. what if her family was famous for intelligence like the Coopers are for thieving. but another thing I want to mention in penelopes chapter in sly 4 clockwork was incredibly close to the castle the closest to the ground in any chapter what if penelope and clockwork talked when she went back in time for le paradox.
If Clockwerk secretly talked to Penelope, wouldn't that alter the future? Assuming she spoke to Clockwerk 1.0, her doing so could maybe change Sly's future. The way I see it is this, have you ever thought about what might've happened to Clockwerk's brain, maybe it survived? Could Penelope have found his brain? Would she put his brain in a new body, Clockwerk 2.0? If Penelope did create Clockwerk 2.0 with the ability to time travel, then her talking to him while he's time travelling could maybe make a bit more sense.
I have a theori. What if Sir Raleigh helped Clockwerk to become a robatic owl, he was the mechanical genious of the Findish Five. This might sound stupid, but it can be true
Sir Raleigh maybe took care of Clockwerk, to make sure his parts were still operational. Since he was the mechanical genious of the group, it could be possible. Sir Raleigh turning Clockwerk robotic? Who knows really, but was Raleigh smart enough to figure out time travel?

I don't think penelope made the time tunnel thing just to bring back Clockwerk. I think she still loved Bentley at that point. She probably knew that Clockwerk was the reason for Bentley's crippling, so wouldn't she just seal his fate? I don't think she would, because that's enabling a person she loves to get seriously injured.
Well, Clockwerk's beak fell and crushed Bentley's leg, that's how it happened. If she still loved Bentley, why try to kill his best friend with that giant robot? Could Penelope have been this evil person no one knew about?
It's clearly stated in the fourth game that she still loved Bentley but she thought Sly was holding him back. Maybe by going back in time she thought oh if I can improve him and alter the timeline Clockwork could kill Sly and Bentley could reach his full potential.
Okfangirl If Clockwerk succeeds, then wouldn't that cause Penelope to never meet the gang in the first place? Bentley wouldn't even know who Penelope is.
Which means she gets her way in some regards because Bentley's full potential is reached, which is what she wants. Bentley would probably be some sort of Steven Hawking of that universe and Penelope is smart enough to find him.

I still think Clockwerk is from the future, and was sent back in time somehow. I don't know he if has a lineage, and kinda hope he doesn't. Giving him one would be a retreat of Le Paradox's plot line. Instead, he might have been inspired by legendary criminals, and wanted to make a name for himself. Thus becoming immortal metaphorically. That may have made him want to become immortal physically. Why leave a name that will eventually fade away when you can exist forever and never be forgotten?
As for the Hate Chip, it might have been initially designed for the Cooper of his era. Then, once in the past, he watched the Coopers of their eras. Seeing the skill of the past fueled his hatred and jealousy, which fueled the Hate Chip. Killing any one of them would have been easy for him, but he just watched instead. Perhaps bidding his time (no pun intended) for the perfect chance to strike.
Thanks for sharing! Clockwerk from the future doesn't sound too far-fetched. I went over it in one my theory videos. The way I see it is this, he got a one way ticket to Ancient Egypt, no turning back! He pretty much got stuck in ancient Egypt. In order to survive, he knew he had to watch and become jealous of the Coopers. I also believe he waited for the perfect time to strike, perhaps he killed the Coopers once they got kids? I mean Sly exists right? Either he didn't kill (''you Coopers always find a way to beat me" from Sly 1) or waited for the perfect time to strike.
VTNVIVI Clockwerk appeared in the Ice Age. So, if he did received a one-way trip into the past, he must have appeared in 10,000 BCE or even before.

I have a theory. I don't think anyone knows how old clockwerk is. Right? Now I'm gonna get a little off topic but it will all tie up in the end. So at the end of sly 3 dr m gets crushed by rubble. Well I think that he survives some how. Now back to clockwerk I think he was born at around the same time as sly then just lived a normal life up until the time of sly 3. I think that clockwerk gets to where dr m is somehow then dr m turns him immortal, allows him to time travel, and tells him to go back in time and spy on the coopers.
I'm most likely wrong I didn't go on anything from the game I just strayed thinking of what might sound cool.

Maybe! But doing so can change the future! Before Sly 4 was released, fans had asked Sanzaru if Sly would visit his parents in Sly 4. It's tricky, doing so might affect Sly's future greatly.

I've been thinking about 1 of your videos that you made in Sly one when Clockwork is defeated remember how you said he spoke gibberish one of the words he says is feet together I've always thought but that one word could hint towards Clockwork having children it sounds like something apparent would say well apparent who is a bird telling his child who is just learning to fly to keep his feet together the flowers could have been something he was picking for his wife this is nothing new I think we're all assumed the Clockwork had children but it's one way they could go with it

OK here goes. Clockwerk needs hate to keep going that could't be the reason why he spared the kids but with sly he had something else in mind taking the book from him but still knowing that there is a cooper that he can hate but without the book he's no threat to him anymore

Maybe the same thing happened to Clockwerk, one of his ancestors were caught stealing by and put behind bars, like you mentioned. His family was probably treated that way and because of that, Clockwerk always saw the Coopers as traitors.
What if clockwork and slytunkhamen grew up together on the streets and clockwork taught slytunkhamen how to be a thief. Then Slytunkhamen became famous for his skills and clockwork grew jealous and used his brain to slowly turn himself into a robot.

I saw your theory, but there is a big problem LeParadox was in jail most of his live which means that he couldn't do anything for clockwerk, but thats not really the problem, LeParadox wasn't the one with the time machine, it was penelope (who stole it from bentley), which brings multiple problems with your theory, but its not totally incorrect (personally i really dislike the clockwerk time traveller theory, cause it seems way too simple (or complicated) and it doesn't settle well with ME), by the way can you give feedback of my theory in the last video.

I really should have clarified. This was, I felt, your most believable theory yet. But conjoined with the other Clockwerk theories, the whole thing doesn't make sense (In my humble opinion).
About your theory of Sly cooper ancestors being dicks. Not all of someone's family history is gonna be nice. I know someone who as a very nice brother and then their sister is bratty. Also "hatred Creates More Hatred" is a thing I believe as fact. In every story/real life a villain has had a horrible past and their hatred for the torture or greed consumed them because of it.
Like they say, evil is not born, it's created by the people around them.

I love all your theories, I really want to believe in all of them. I wish some are true. But the problem here is that your theories are going too far, they're too much "good / well tough out " for the developers 😅
That just my opinion but look out sly 4, to me the game is a little desipointment ´cause the Time travel are a bit poorly done, paradox are inexistant and all the game is based on magical solutions (but I know that the game is for kids: so like I said, that just a opinion)
I don't think that the futur sly 5 (If it see the light one day...) gonna be a real source of puzzles or we gonna say "wahooo that game was well tought "
