I've seen them 5 times, never have they played Orion. I was lucky once when they played call of ktulu, which was AMAZING

Fr. Thankfully people like this person are so tied to their phones that we get to see it. I would never record more than a few seconds. Too busy thrashing around acting a fool for that. Gotta get into the music and forget the phone

Which is bullshit, and you know it.
What you also know is that there was a time before every fool took pictures and videos of shows.
What you don't know is, is how great and wild concerts were in the pre-smartphone era.
And frankly: one can watch this out of curiosity.
Not because it'd be a cinematic highlight.
Regardless of how you feel about there new album/direction, you gotta love Orion opening the entire tour.
I was totally flabbergasted it took me seconds to know what they were playing because it was like so so unexpected, truly mind blowing. I was as close to the stage a bit to the right. I went totally nuts
Opening with Orion is really unique and interesting. Very cool. They sound very good. That stage is massive!

@@KNEESOFBEES1989 mate I was about 5 people back from the stage, half of the show we were watching an empty stage, they were all on the other side, or one of them will come over for a minute or two and then move on around the stage again. I legit had a view of Lars for 4 Songs both nights before he moved to another drumkit and was completely out of view. We didn't even see the four of them all together at the same time, you only watch one of them (who's ever turn it is on our section of the stage).
For such an expensive show, it was honestly kind of disappointing

@@KNEESOFBEES1989 honestly I think the further back you are, the more you will see. There are also some raised platforms as part of the stage, try not to stand in front of one of those and get in front of a lower lying part of the stage, I would guess that it would be much easier to see what's going on from there.

its my all time favourite song, yesterday morning i wondered about how cool it would be if they played it and then i was sitting in that bench telling myself to not be disappointed if they didnt play orion and then those bass chords started...

Well they are doing the "2 nights, different set list" thing, so I'm sure we'll be hearing songs they haven't done live in a LONG time.
I was lucky enough to see them playing Orion live in 2011

Awesome! I’ve got tickets for me and my best friend next year in Seattle at the last stop of the US Tour. My friend just retired from the US Air Force after 27 years and this is my retirement gift to him. He did the same for me when I retired from the Air Force in 2018-we saw them front row in Sacramento. It was one of the coolest things I’ve got to do in my entire life.
Opening with Orion is sick as hell!
They will be opening the entire tour with Orion, The Call of Ktulu, Suicide and Redemption and To Live is To Die!!! Mark my words!!!
Say what you want but Metallica keep doing whatever they want. Opening with Orion is so perfect and that is the perfect tribute to Cliff each and every time they play it.

They really should play more instrumentals it would help preserve James vocals if they want to continue.

I'm gonna see them next year in Foxboro. First time ever. I don't even give a shit that I have nosebleed seats. I've wanted to see them live for 23 years and never could. This just amps me so much. THEY STILL GOT IT

It’ll still be great. The one time I seen them in 2019 we were up as high as you could possibly sit and it was still an awesome show.
Orion is such a powerful song. Is also the name of my deceased son who must be there, high among the stars of Orion !

Totally agree, back then there weren't people standing around filming the band on their phones, people were just totally lost in the music which is how it should be. Take a photo then put your phones away people. Enjoy the moment. The band will appreciate it too. They want to look out from the stage and see people having a great time, not standing round. Enjoy and mosh till you drop. And I hope they play Orion ❤ when I see them in June 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Legends, what a song to open up
I was there. I can safely say listening to Orion live is one of the most exciting concert experienced I have ever had in my life. It carried all of their power and mystique and became a whirlwind of memories for everyone there.
The last solo in this song is Kirk's best all-time imo

I'm tired of all the Lars hate. He has my respect just for the fact it's 40+ years after the band started and he is still playing huge sets with heavy songs. It isn't identical to the recording; who would want that anyways? But he still serves the songs and does them justice. It's rock n roll at its finest. Tbh, w Lars, I think a lot of the elitists just don't want to admit that it takes more than being technically precise on an instrument to write a good fucking song.

Lars has been using a click for a few years now, thatd why you don't hear that much nonsense filler and why the band doesn't slow down or plays faster anymore.

I was at the show, my first metallica show, and i got so emotional hearing the intro, right from the start it i knew it’s Orion. Can’t describe the joy i felt.

seeing Kirk playing the 59 LP he just got is awesome .. so good to see it getting played instead of some rich accountant (medical professional) locking it away in a vault

When someone is visually impaired and sees only shades of black it makes it even more sad…
