Martial Arts Instructor Reacts: The Night Comes For Us - Iko Uwais vs Tony Jalsim
Not for the faint of heart. Iko Uwais shows off his frenetic, brutal brand of Pencak Silat in the Indonesian Action Thriller.
Thank you all for your recommendations keep them coming!

I felt that
You felt that
We all felt that
The most brutal moment in any movie ever
I FLINCHED. I FUKIN FLINCHED
They sold it so well! The sound and camera and the way his leg goes limp immediately
I've watched this thrice and it still feels like shit
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 after that kick to the metal beam. I would’ve been done
LOL There was the biggest collective "OOOOHHHHHH" throughout the martial arts community when he kicked the steel beam. These guys always have the best fight choreography.
1:37 Can't believe he legit grabbed his own foot with his hand, and held it back as if to charge up the power of the kick when released just when the guy stopped blocking. Genius xD
Right? I've seen people do it with a roundhouse kick while sparring too, always catches people off guard. Supposedly it's a TKD thing
i just suddenly realize that. it's awesome
First time Ive seen that move was in TV series Mortal Kombat Conquest by Scorpion fighting Sub-Zero.
ua-cam.com/video/nZ91Y92jrm0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=KurtisStryker at min 3:03
@@ryutenmen Funny how in this scene Sub Zero also gets kick in the same manner
@@ryutenmen chris cassamassa vs jj perry round 2. ty for the walk down memory lane
iko= using pencak silat
joe= using judo
thats why we can see thats iko mostly have circle move( most pencak silat move counter attack ) and joe mostly use power with their body and puch attack in the floor, pencak silat not do punch in floor actually, thats why iko bad if puching at floor and joe can counter it
Thank you this is super informative.
This movie is probably one of the most brutal things I've seen in years. That's my way of saying see the whole movie.
I'm going to watch one or two more scenes on here first so I don't ruin the 1st time reactions then I'll be watching it all. really excited
Super brutal!!!
This movie is the most violent thing I have ever seen in my life, bar none. It is unbelievable.
me too
I did watch it on Netflix, but had to stop this fight scene, half way through, then finish it later on
4:30 This movie is the most splatter filled thing I've ever seen, with every stab, slice, crunch, snap, and other variety of human-obliteration you could imagine. And yet that one kick is still the most brutal moment of the whole movie. I've never seen a single person watch that, and not just completely crease.
There's some rule I read about horror movies. That seeing big, dramatic violence is less impactful than small injuries for some reason. Like throwing a guy into a wood chipper is rough, but everyone with legs doubled over in agony when that kick missed.
That’s probably because you can’t imagine the feeling of being thrown into a wood chipper, but you can sure as hell imagine kicking that beam.
@@jnhzrk6841 Exactly. If you want to make an impactful scene, make it relatable. Hitting such a hard kick on the shin will make anyone wince, especially because most people definitely have had hit their shin either lightly or heavily, and imagination takes the rest.
I love how, even with all the brutal moments in this movie, the one thing everyone winces at is the kick at 4:30 lmao
You feel that one
Yoooo sub zero was so dope in MK, but watching this scene again. They way under utilized my man Joe taslim!!!
BRO IKO or RAMA MUST IN MK 2 MOVIE! IS MUST!
Iko has his own choreo company, and that's the only way to utilize Joe's ability to the max
That is everything you want from a cinematic fight. Truly brilliant!
Dude, in The Night Comes for Us, both Joe Taslim and Iko Uwais played bad guys, but Iko Uwais was the villain.
Iko Uwais did the choreography of the fight, combining Pencak Silat, Judo and Wushu moves. Of course, Iko used Pencak Silat and Joe used both his Wushu and Judo skills. It was the most brutal fight scene ever choreographed by Iko Uwais.
I love that you sort of feel their different martial arts in how they fight. Like Iko having an advantage for striking and speed versus Joe having an advantage in grappling and power
That's why when iko was flying to meet chien woo they show a triad ceremony comparing they're bodies and I think it's meant for the ending to try to let us know who's going to be grappling, wrestling which is ito since he was more bulkier than Arian aka iko
I like all of his movie fighting scene. It feels like the real fight. Everyone will use their full capability in life or death battle to survive. So great to see it.
This whole movie is brutal AF and it's one of my favorite films. But I definitely felt that kick on that beam OUCH
This and the raid are like nothing I've ever seen before!!
God damn, this fight was so visceral! So many moments that you can feel. Like the hands full of tacks. I put my hand down on a pile of them once when I was a kid and I remember it all too well!
I love how they don't hold back in these scenes. You may get squeamish, but you just cannot look away. The quality of the fight between the 3 women assassins was exceptional, as well. Great movie!
Uwais is also in headshot and a film about aliens called beyond skyline, but there's a lot of decent fight scenes in there.
Merantau is his first film, some great clips in there too.
Mile 22 with Wahlberg is another, fight scenes are more limited in that one though.
Triple threat, with Scott Adkins and. Tony Jaa.
That's the main ones anyway.
4:30 gave me flashbacks to when I was in high school playing soccer and hit the goal post with my shin.
This is one of my favorite action movies. In 2018 when it released, it was hailed as one of the bloodiest action movies of all time! The entire movie is packed man!
There's still a few fights from this movie I want to do and then I'm going to watch the whole thing. I can't wait
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 I noticed you only have a couple Donnie Yen clips too. Anything Ip Man with Donnie in it is also well worth a look. First movie he fights 10 Black Belts at once.
4:56 i had spar with a friend b4 shin on shin collision till this day I still remember how it hurt.
Part of this for me is the sound. We all know that reverberating touch that is required for such a sound. And it simply echoes all the way up your spine.
Such a visceral moment.
Iko uwais is the most underrated action star of our time he is lethal.
I watched one of Timo (the director) film called Macabre, which basically is about a cannibal family. If you combine Timo and Iko, then this is exactly what will come out.
The first time this came out, I was expecting a nice action movie. Turns out, it was quite brutal 😂 but still, the cast director and the fighting choreographer need some raise!
Iko himself is the fight choreographer.
4:30 Favorite scene
Incredibly well done scene
This fight has to be one of the most well-crafted fight scenes ever. I’ve seen better in terms of choreography, it was still amazing, but the directing, editing and camera angle is unmatched and I’ve never seen any fight scene captured as well as this
The perfect amount of camera shake and cut
waitt... better choreography? shit what movie what show
@@mrpog574 yeah im curious too what movie?? Ong bak? Good but not close to this? Any legend jackie chan 1.000 movie fight? Not as good as this n what next? Hollywood fight scenes? List then one who has better choreography than this? Even as a moscow girl russian like to fight barehand but our movie fight scenes never close to this level
@@mrpog574 the Raid 1 & 2 are comparable imo
When your fight scene is physically painful just to watch, you're both doing your job very well and also doing it TOO well, holy shit i need to ice down my shin after that.
My favorite bit of Choreography meets Cinematography is in the knee bar attempts they do this beautiful setup and hold before cutting to the leg straightening into foot meet knee.
Omg thank you for spotlighting this BRILLIANT fight!! I wish more people knew and talked about it. I genuinely think it's the greatest one-on-one martial arts fight scene I've ever witnessed
one of the most brutal fights i have ever seen .
You know it's bad when EVERYONE who has ever thrown a kick jump in agony AT THE SAME MOMENT
There are men out there that can take this kind of beating and still keep going. 😳
Iko Uwais is really a badass how great he became ❤️
Next "Headshot" by him too is really brutal.
super talented guy and deserves all the praise he gets!
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 Deserves more!
this is not a FATALITY, this is ULTIMATE BRUTALITY, damn
Am I the only one watching with eyes away from the screen?
I saw this movie with my parents and i was expecting to be a normal martial arts action film and i realized it's a bloody action thriller, one of the most brutal movies I've seen but very well made, good choreography, emotional scenes, good soundtrack, the ending was sad but good. It's easily one of my favorite movies, in the other hand my parents hated it because of the crazy amount of violence and blood, they were worrying about me that i liked it so much! 😂😂😂
iko uwais choreography very very amazing
I recommend to watch Iko Uwais' debut movie MERANTAU a.k.a Merantau Warrior (2009), made by same director and crew as RAID movies.
It's a movie made specifically to formally introduce Pencak Silat to the world. It less brutal than Raids but has a beautiful story. 😎
I will definitely give it a look! Pencak Silat is something new for me but it is an amazing looking style, excited to see more of it
Yeah this is a good film, you can tell it's an early film for both director (Gareth Edwards) and Iko Uwais, but some great fights and story lines.
4:30 I feel it too
bro
I think I'll feel that for the rest of my life
PG, LOL. He might have been sarcastic.
Talking about brutal, we'll see more brutality and fatality on upcoming Mortal Combat movie adaptation with Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero.
Can't wait! FINISH HIM!
Fun fact this move right here 2:53 is commonly used in a Pencak Silat artistic performances who thought this move can be so brutal
This is such a badass movie! Had a lot of great fight scenes and they're very brutal! Definitely one to watch and keep!
I cant wait for Joe Taslim's Sub-Zero in the new Mortal Kombat.. considering its a mortal kombat and R-rated, it better be brutal and gore.. after all its fatality bro!
I hope it will be as gore as this movie (TNCFU), Mortal Kombat movies in 90s were a bit disappointing in that aspect.
Did the movie still not released??what date they will release?
the movie went sucks
when i first saw raid when i was younger man i said rite away this is the best fighting movie ever of all time to me #1 its just on another level
This guys are amazing. Very impressive. 👏
I love Joe Taslim scene on Fast & Furious 6 when he beats Tyrese and Sun Kung on Subway
I haven't seen any fast and furious since the second one I think? I'll make sure to look for this one
Iko with silat + Joe taslim with Judo=powerful combo😎
This scene was always the epitome of the phrase ‘The only hit point that matters is the last one’
awesome not knowing who would win made the fight a lot more fun to watch
_when he kicked that metal beam I FELT THAT._ I saw you cringe and I knew you prolly felt that too lol!
This is a fight I’m happy that I watched u react to
Burridge omg I love this movie!!!!
Look for the rooftop fight from Iko's first film Merantau. The pole bit will make you flinch.
Great review! Silat is one of our heritage as indonesian traditional martial art. Keep up the good work! Terima kasih & salam
Terima kasih teman
I have loved learning about the Silat style and would love to actually learn some of it one day!
Joe Taslim is a beast, he is the best actor to portray SubZero
Super Mantap😃👍
Ive never seen this before, that was insane
They are actor and also real athlete, Iko uwais is pencak silat athlete and Joe taslim Judo Athlete
thank you
Timo, the director, is known for his horror slasher film. So his movie will be bloody and gory. Blend it perfectly with pencak silat, then you got this. A fight that will satisfy blood lust, rushing adrenaline, make you cringe and exhausted but make you want more. It'll entertain the beast within you.
Those two are actually really close friends
This movie is bat-shit crazy 😤 much props to Iko and Joe for pulling this off 🙌
Joe taslim such a great judo professional man. For him penchak was a little bit more difficult than iko cause peace upon his father iko’s father was a penchak master. Great reaction greetings from France 🇫🇷
Actually Iko said in a interview that the person he was fighting, in first segment, is his best friend. He could only Judo so he had to teach him some things.
I think an often overlooked thing is when the MC punches yet hits cement. That REALLY hurts, just another thing to this gritty scene.
Watched this fight a few times, what i like about it is the stable camera, if this was a hollywood fight it would be jump cutting and spinning all over the place with dramatic music blasting out. Questionable if someone could take that much trauma and injury though and still fight/function ?, superb work all the same.
Badass movie, everyone should watch the whole thing. Other movies that are pretty badass are chocolate and the man from nowhere.
This is a true hardcore match
The man from nowhere fight scene
knee to the steel pole that hurt ooofff. remembered back in highschool playing with friend to kick something but i kick the edge of wooden table. oh that was so hurt. Another one was when i was work on platform. Was trying to bring steel pipe without noticing steel grater boom. Instant bleeding. That one took 3 days for the pain gone. I dont know why but the grater blunt and the safety cloth not even torn.
I`ve watchetd this movie and I can say that this was such a brutal
Mate! Watch the whole movie!
It is awesome!!
This movie is so gory ! :O
Right! Wasn't sure what to expect going in but damn did they deliver an amazing scene
my god, the brutality of the scene slowly increase until i cant bear to watch it
Joe Taslim play as sub-zero in new mortal kombat movie👍
I could not finish this the last time I watched it and I have watched the raid/the raid II back to back.
Alternate Title: _The Overkill Comes for Us_
Ouch!
the kick to the pillar right?
this whole film is brutal
Best movie indonesia pencak silat
PG meaning "Pretty Gratuitous".... 🤣🤣🤣
Must have been!
F**!!
This suddenly appears on recommended video for me while I eating my breakfast...daaaammnn
Brutall
You have to watch the last fight scene in The Man From No Where.
I Have Watched This Movies 10 Times And Iko Uwais Was The One WHO Died By Being Shot After The Fight With Joe Taslim
TNCFU final fight scene > The Raid 2 final fight scene > The Raid 1 final fight scene
yeah the kitchen fight is still my favorite action fight scene ever. Everything about it is 10 out of 10.
It was the slice down the back that got me freaking out like a girl. Voice went all high when I yelled "WHAT THE FUCK!?".. oh hell no
TNCFU is a horror-gruesome movie camuflage as an action movie
Old Boy's one take
Both eastern version and western remake are interesting choreographies for looooooong takes yet with this kind of brutality/gritty realism, ya might like it :D
4:30
This is the most brutal thing on our life
I like how the table saw prop was designed by someone who has never seen a table saw.
Salam from indonesia
Salam from Canada c:
me gusto la reacción, aunque mi ingles no es muy bueno, solo entendí el 20% de lo que dijo, pero bueno, me encanto la película y todas las peliculas de iko uwais
Here's a question about 4:30.
If we were to apply real-world logic, would Iko's foot have been broken? He hits the beam on the arc of his foot, so I'm left wondering if there would have been anything damaged. I doubt one could simply crack it back into place as he does a few moments later.
I ask as a writer whose writing an action scene where something similar happens.
In reality it probably would have shattered every bone In his foot. There's a reason we kick with shins and not with the foot.
He twist back his angkle that joe taslim did before
Hi, just found your videos, perhaps you should give some comments or breakdown for each scene. Or what would you do if you were in such situation in those fight scenes.
Liked the vids, by the way
MK next movies should be like this, raw and unforgiving. Big guns that just wont surrender and its one to one fight.
The real mortal combat action
aku ke mana aja ya ? glad i'm catching up, hahaha
Berkat iko pencak silat mendunia
iko itu bagus (google translate, hopefully it is right!!)
Please react wu assassin
It's somewhat understandable. We don't have such a thing as grammar Nazi in Indonesia. So feel free to use the Language.
Men, you gotta see the full movie by yourself
I think it's on Netlix here, maybe romantic movie night with the Missus haha
If you want to watch another iko uwais movie, maybe try to watch "merantau" an old film but the fighting is just like the raid because gareth evans is also the producer
I was trying to pick a good scene from it, any recommendations?
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 try this link ua-cam.com/video/IdQZHpZqrZQ/v-deo.html
the uploader do a good job to cover most of the fights, there's 9 fights scene in total. You can do more than 1 scene in 1 video because some of them is very short, but it's up to you.
React to Scott Adkins, Undisputed 2, Ninja II Shadow of a Tear, and Avengement
Take a look a the most recent interview from Scott Adkins with Joe Taslim on 'the art of action'. Really interesting interview and some insight on how Joe got started.
I will definitely check that out! Scott Adkins is a great guy to listen to
