- The waves are up, and I just couldn't help myself... I had to go back to my favourite place to have another fossil hunt. Come along as we explore the Yorkshire Jurassic coast in the quest for rare ammonites.

Giveaway! I really appreciate that you tell us the location where you are hunting for fossils.
It is one of the joys I have videoing as a scientist and enthusiast rather than as a commercial dealer. I am not so fussed about people knowing where I am/what I am finding, but I can understand why other channels don't always say it. Somewhere new in the next (albeit shorter) hunt! I dont know just how cold it is in england but if you have the balls to wear a hardhat as a civillian/ without pay ,...
they make a hardhat liner that covers the ears and neck that , velcros right on
may be worth lookin into

The hardhat stems from taking a small rock to the head on one of my earlier hunts. Came off the cliff and out what I thought was a safe distance, so now for my safety and to ensure my wife doesn't kill me, I wear one. Thanks for the info on the liner. Through winter it gets down to near freezing regularly. I think this last hunt was about 4C. I've got neck warmer/snood-like thing that often ends up over my ears/head when the temps are low. The joy of hunting at places like Ravenscar is the hills and clambering over rocks keeps you warmer!

like i said i even wear my liner without the helmet at times
and man around cliffs , or overhead things YES do wear protection ,...it only takes a second

GIVEAWAY. I was there the other day, still hunting for my first full hildoceras, i keep finding them, start prepping them and they are crushed 😢.
It took me a long time to find a good Hildy on the coast and even now I've only got a few decent sized good ones. Ravenscar produces a lot of smaller ones (probably more than any other location) but I've not had a big one from there yet. Keep hunting, you'll find one
@dinoskool I got a decent sized one from Port Mulgrave, but it had no centre, my collection is building slowly and I actually love prepping just as much as hunting.
Sounds much like my experience. Got very lucky with my first one in Port but it was a long time before I found my next one(s) at Saltwick. I do love prepping too, but sadly a 4.5 month old baby does limit my ability to get out into my shed with any brain power to do any prep 😅
