You have great reports. One thing I would love to here just a little bit more of is some thoughts on deployment. As a new-ish player, I think deployment is one of those things that are extremely important, easy to mess up and fairly hard to practice, so any opportunity to get some insight into that is great. Maybe this time it wasn´t that complicated, but just something I would love to see more of in general.
It's really quite impressive how you just never win a priority roll, even when you get a 6. Genuinely incredible. Also, love seeing the post-game chat! One of my favorite parts of playing is talking the game over with my opponent afterward.
Great work, as always! Fantastic to see the new Slaves to Darkness in action. Heartbreaking to see the Chosen whiff on that key activation. A couple interesting observations: (1) On the first turn, Ryan mentioned Chaos Warriors get +1 attack wholly within his territory. AFAICT, it's wholly within 12" of an objective you don't control or wholly within enemy territory. If he was so inclined, he could have moved them more aggressively, since they would still get the +1 attack as long as they were wholly within 12" of his home objective. (2) On turn 5, With the Chaos Sorcerer being Mark of Nurgle, Ryan could have used Bestow Corruption command ability for the 3+ to deal D3 MW after he fights. Not super efficient, but more chances to spike and take that unit out for the battle tactic and the tie game.
excellent content guys, as always! the only thing I was missing here would have been Cass reciting at end end of turn3, "Victory was near, but the power of the Cap could not be undone..." 😂
I'm sorry, Ryan, but you have done this twice so far. It's an Arcane TOME, not an Arcane Tomb. XD Nevertheless, great game, gentlemen. I love this format for Battle Reports. It actually feels like a 'report' being presented on my desk rather than witnessing the battle itself.
Either pronounciation is correct actually. In the US it is commonly pronounced "tōm" but in the UK it is pronounced "tūm". I grew up watching a lot of UK fantasy such as Lord of the Rings so always was used to it pronounced the British way.
I am in the UK and I've never heard it pronounced the same as 'tomb' personally, although I'll concede its not a word used very often in day-to-day life.
A lot of things were FAQ'd likely after y'all filmed Everchosen is a 5+ rally and the Nurgle banner just affects melee rend against the unit being the most notable
Yeah this is correct. (I kinda expected the rally to get nerfed tbh but the nurgle nerf was a surprise, I thought the utility of the banner being an aura was cool and not game breaking)
Love the battle report! :) Great you are NOT showing dice rolls (it just takes time). Beautiful armies. And even more beautiful table - really amazaing :)
I think when there's a new Sylvaneth vs. new Lumineth on this awesome channel I'm gonna pop open a bottle of champagne But unless Jordan plays vs himself, I think they need someone to come over with their army. :D
They do and they also really struggle with projecting threat past a screen. Though I'm not sure allied Tzeentch heroes are the solution as they are so expensive and we need our precious ally spots for khorne heroes as force multipliers. Imo this is probably more of a game design problem where units really shouldn't be stacking +1 save 2-3 times over. Slaves used to be able to do that as well but it was all removed in the new book.
@@matthewjanack1124 Absolutely, but that would be list tailoring. I usually go into my matches not knowing what my opponent will be playing so the question becomes if he is worth taking in an all-comers list?
@@matthewjanack1124 Possibly, I think its less about GHB and more about how prevalent god level units and characters are in a given meta. It doesn't have to be a big monster. It could be gotrek or even if some super unit becomes popular such as say maxed out units of varanguard. He has a lot of value if commonly fielded armies contain a single super powerful actor for him to disrupt, otherwise he is dead weight. I wish they would change him to be more like the 40k Belakor which is more of a cool wrecking ball and less of a gimmick.
protectors are so good in the current meta in stormhost outside of the one that makes them galley vets. I really think the khorne heros are a bad investment. you spend 480 points on the unit and then 350-400 buffing/sceening for them and just don't have much beyond the death star that can be helpful. A second hard hitter like ogroids or knights would probably do a lot and take some aggro off the chosen.
see, those nine one's you rolled on the chosen attacks were because you don't have any units in your list Tzeentch marked ;) the great conspirator was showing his disfavor.
I like that slaves list. I think I'd prefer Cultists over the Warhounds, just from the utility of Deepstrikes, Pregame moves, etc., but I like it. once the Bloodstoker synergy goes away a Foot Lord with Idolator Lord and Conqueror's Crown could be a nice piece to mesh with those Warriors not sold on the 5 random knights myself. thryre just so pillowfisted when they dont charge. may be better off with 3 Vguard or 3 Ogroids depending on the points
10 Chaos Knights on the charge have similar damage output to 4 Fulminators on the charge Also the Knights have the fight within 1/2" rule on their warscroll, so getting all 10 in is very doable even after Gallet. 10 Knights of Khorne + Daemonic Speed from a Sorcerer can be a potent alpha strike. Not to mention with a 3+ save and 5+ vs MW they are tough to shift and become a good anvil after.
@@cmleibenguth I think he was more referring to just 5 knights as being pretty pillowfisted. That said, Knights are always going to be swingy because of the 4+ to hit. Average damage is decent but consistency is really poor. Though not much will slaughter fulminators with +2 to save on them. Varanguard or Ogroids would have also bounced off. My thinking in the moment wasn't to kill the fulminators, I knew that wasn't going to be a thing. I was just hoping I could bring down one fulminator and really tie them up as I expected the Chosen charge was going to crumple the other flank and that the fulminators would be the only thing he could leverage to wrestle the game back so reducing them even by a single model could be huge. Unfortunately the Chosen failed their mission pretty spectacularly so the plan didn't work. As for the warhounds, the list was built based on leaks before culstist warscrolls were out, I agree, in most cases cultists would be more desirable. Though I do still really like warhounds. 10 wounds of effectively 16" movement for 80points is great.
I'm actually referring to both 5 being pillowfisted and 10 being more of an anvil than a hammer. yes, they Krump on the charge. that's just math. but without any form of Retreat and Charge like what Blood Knights have, they are going to charge once and then be stuck by whatever charges them. and when they are not charging, as specified, they are pillowfisted. one of those things you have to discover on tabletop- can't just assume you always get the charges you want. Untamed Beasts help with the initial charge, but it's unlikely to happen twice in a game. at that point, better to shell out for Vguard
I do kinda like the warhounds, I gotta admit. im fairly certain the Splintered Fang will get addressed, since they just do stupid damage, but I could see things like Beasts, Golems, and Corvus remaining the same good time to be chaos
Can the blood stoker use Whipped to Fury on slaves to darkness units with Mark of khorne keyword? Everyone is telling me it has to target the khorne keyword, not mark of khorne keyword...
Every time i see your stormcasts come out im so conflicted lol.. Love the models but my ocd would never let me do this so when i see them being a stormcast player im like... Whaaaaaaaaatttttt???? Totally seen every stormcast report there my guys nice.
Might just be me, but I don't understand why so many channels use this or the similar battle plan. The shove up the middle mechanic isn't as interesting of a watch as hold 1, hold 2, hold more in my opinion
We want to show the full range of battleplans, even though we agree they're not all balanced. Not everyone plays as much or knows why some battle plans are better/worse, so we try to play them all to show examples of why some don't work super well.

I really like the pace, music, effects, commentary, terrain and editing on this channel.
Thanks so much!
Yeah, absolutely! easily best channel out there for AOS. I really want to pick up premium at some point when I'm not super broke.
The Demonic Speed spell always was only castable on mounted units, what changed was the casting value from 6 to 7.

Oh man, that chosen roll was rough, gutted to see that happen. Good game though, interesting to see the new Chaos armies.
New to the channel. I absolutely love the quality, pace, and personable feel of your Batreps. I'm loving your content!

Your battle maps are stunning. Great reports, could go through deployment a bit more?
Uhm. The day 1 FAQ didn't change daemonic speed to mount. It already had that restriction. It only upped the casting value.
I am pretty sure the Difference between a Minor and Major Victory isn't worth much if it's not Path To Glory.
Chaos is cool, More Chaos Mortals.
I have never seen such low stormblast damage, that was rough.
Slaves seem to still suffer against high armor saves. Looks like it's time to start bringing the blue scribes or a changecaster or both as allies
They do and they also really struggle with projecting threat past a screen. Though I'm not sure allied Tzeentch heroes are the solution as they are so expensive and we need our precious ally spots for khorne heroes as force multipliers.

unpopular opinion Belakor is a bit of a trap. You are better off bringing more units.
I totally agree if you are looking to min/max.
I think he’s worth it if your opponent has a big god monster so it’s matchup dependent

They said they were from Artisan Guilds' 3D models :)

Yep, 100% - The StD Battletome states that the marks grant the respective god's keyword, so 'khorne', 'slaanesh' etc.
