Chris Spedding is the Prince of Darkness, Twang and Guitar. I saw Spedding live at the Ritz in the East Village New York City in the mid-eighties and I can remember, as if it were hppening right now, looking up at Chris Spedding on the stage - and he was 'too cool' - that was a big draw btw. And there was a sizable group that had leather jackets on and I thought were probably bikers. I had heard a lot of rock and punk before but there was something very different, cool, dark and sad which I didn't expect. It was like a serious reconnection with reality. When he played Silver Bullet and hit the solo ? ...yeah, my legs buckled ..and I almost collapsed. It went right to my heart brain. He was coming from a whole different perspective as to what was really happening - a kinda a feeling of the lonliness of eventually dying. Also, at the show a jerk came on to the cute girl I brought. He stood directly infront of her while she looked at the show on the stage. I never end up in fights but sure enough, while the music played this guy and I get into it and I dragged him outta the floor area over to a bar...he punched back and tore my good jacket. But Chris Speeding , I also like his song Signs of Love. ....the thing in doubt, is if I really care, ahh searching out, you just ain't there.
Great to find this! I became a fan many years ago. I still have an original copy of the Rockabilly Boogie album. Rock until you drop!
