Thank you. I am presently attending the International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts. Your essay can stand alongside any of the papers presented here. Oh, and Apto Canavalian is also attending, the scoundrel. Anyway, thanks again.
oh, and by the way, when asked what my favourite story is (that I've written), my reply is always 'Crack'd Pot Trail.' To which I generally receive blank looks or an uncertain smile. The voice of Flicker was born, like a dragon from a chicken egg, from my reading Sir Richard Burton. Did I channel his restless spirit? Since I always hesitate to take credit for this voice and style (which I have never been able to repeat), my unspoken answer is often a possible 'yes.' Cheers, SE
Dude. Bravo. 👏 👏 👏 Incredibly well done video !!! You’ve convinced me - this novella is not just brilliant (which I already thought) but a quintessential entry in the Malazan universe, and Erikson’s body of work in general. A must-read for any fan of Erikson’s. I can’t really comment much further because you already said it all. The symbiotic/parasitic nature of the relationship between artist/critic/audience is really something to behold, and something to study. I very much appreciate the takeaway that as audience, we should strive for empathy and respect as we consume and reflect on art. A worthy goal for us all 🫂
These have been in my TBR since finishing Crippled God. I need to get to them soon. Your analysis has me looking forward to this one in particular. This style of video is good too, i hope you do some more in the future for some of the other Malazan books.
I think they were all great in their own way. They would make good filler stories. They were so quick to get through. I can see why maybe they wouldn't exactly land with everybody maybe, especially if they go in really craving something else. But I found them all really funny at times and uniquely refreshing. I think Lees of laughters end is the most silly fun.
@@DanExploresBooks yeah, I was thinking of trying the audiobooks since they are available now and the stories aren't very long or complex. These sound like they are pretty funny which is great, I love the humor in his books.

That is a nice thing to hear. Thank you. Will be working on some more of these.

I cannot tell you properly how much I like this video. I firmly believe that crack'd pot trail is among the best things Erikson has written
Thank you. And I totally agree that it stands among his best stuff.

Well I am feeling vindicated for enjoying Crack'd Pot Trail as much as I did. Now make us a series set in Kallor's time or you are dead to us!

Man Dan I saw Steve post this on his Facebook! Proud of you brother! Best wishes to you and your family

Appreciated. And also agree that some things just aren't our taste. Totally fine too.
This was a beautiful and very well done review and analysis. Thank you for putting such work into this masterpiece of a tale.
Glad to hear it. Will have to pause and organize my thoughts a bit more in the future. And yes, I think this Crack'd Pot Trail is a masterpiece too.
