12 boxes at $159 is over $1900 and that's not including tax and shipping. I don't even think there was $300 in value here. Topps/Fanatics should be ashamed for selling it for this much. I was on the fence about purchasing this. Thanks for saving me money
$160 I'd probably opt for two archives signature series. I'd agree around $100 or less would be much better but, unfortunately I don't see box prices crashing anytime soon.
I’ve had good luck in past years with Topps Archives Signature Series, usually the retired player edition. This year, as with about all Topps products, just not much luck. I have opened 4 of the retired series boxes, and got a Jim Edmonds (very good player, but no real value), Hunter Pence (good player, but probably even less value), Mark Mulder 1/1 (super player in his short prime, but again, no real value), but he is a MSU Spartan, so that is cool. Finally tried to hit paydirt on try #4. Pulled a Tony Oliva on a Topps Allen and Ginter. I was happy to pull a HOF, but when it is on a very modern A&G card, that tempers my excitement. I also know that there is now way I’m coming close to getting my $ back on the Oliva, but atleast it is a HOF auto and for that, I’m ok with not breaking even.
“Keep it more protected.” A man with logic. I got a replacement package when both my foil packs looked like rainbows. I ended the conversation with put them in the middle, so they don’t bounce around during shipping as much. They said the convo is recorded, hopefully they take that to the next meeting for a raise.
I realize he isn't the same caliber as Trevor Hoffman but some people forget that Joe Nathan also started in the minors as a shortstop for the Giants and ended up having a wonderful career as a closer.
I think one of the boxes may have broken even...the rest....yikes...I thought about it but at 40 bucks a card I thought it too risky. Not sure what Fanatics was thinking but high quality production deserves much better substance. Going to be tough to justify buying singles. And I appreciate Erik's honesty in not sugarcoating it...he warns us repeatedly about the lottery aspects of the breaks.
Topps ruins the hobby with the D level autographs just so they can guarantee an autograph in some of their boxes. I've ended up with two Simeon Woods-Richardson autographs from two different products. I guess when you have only pitched in two MLB games since 2022, and have a 6.52 era, you have a lot of time to sign Topps cards. The only cards worth keeping were the Jimmy Rollins, Shohei, Aaron Judge, and the Hoffman auto. Thanks Jabs for saving me money. Again. Great video by the way.
Congratulations turning 2k into $50.00 in value. Personally, I would probably give about $20 for the entire lot of what you opened in that case. That has to be the biggest ripoff of 2023.
Yikes, hopefully just a bad set of boxes there. I don't think any of them got even half your money back. The base card parallels look nice, but overall I'm thinking this is a singles-only product for me.
yikes!!! i agree with you though the IDEA is a B grade but that case might have popped out $150 of value if you're lucky! Team breaks MIGHT be the only way to "win" on these. cool design though! which is a shame its such a bust (in this example)
WTF With only 4 cards at 160 per box they should have left the scrub autos to big league or heritage. What a bust of a product!. This case may yield $150 so disappointing.
As with about all 2023 Topps products, way too many Zonks!!! Even the good packs, like the Trevor Hoffman auto don’t come close to getting you your monies worth. Cards are beautiful, but I just can’t throw large sums of money at Topps products that are a sure fire waste of large sums of money. Fanatics/Topps is pushing me firmly into vintage cards only.
So... 159.00 a pack or 40 dollars a card (super fail) Don't mean to be rude but basic card collecting doesn't exist anymore not at 4 cards a box (aka: pack ) Now the big question... when do they start calling a box a CASE ! ( Yes when it has 2 packs ! ) Boxes need 24 to 36 packs with a min. of 10 cards a pack and stop using HOF players basically as pack fillers because there aren't enough soild stars and good rookie future stars !
Can we all agree that Starling Marte has too much signatures and value in any of these boxes. I’m sick of seeing him in anything. Maybe 10 years ago but not now
Yuck. Send those back. Topps should NEVER do anyone like this!!! A slap in the face to us all. Smh They are supposed to be the best, they need to act like the best. Unbelievable. You'd be lucky to get $159.00 out of all of those cards

$50. I would probably offer $20 for the lot.
Yup $50 max! but even after this video I wouldn't pay that!@@ericcraig3875
Yet people keep buying it. They will continue with the horrible products because they sell. People can't resist.
Good Lord if I'm basing my purchasing of a product on a Jabs preview video, Topps Chrome Black is an absolute HARD pass
But a HoF'er LOL
That case was HORRIBLE. Last years black was much better I got some decent autos in 3 boxes I ripped and a blue bobby witt /75.
This was bonkers
Absolute dumpster fire of a product
That’s why I’m thankful for his videos. I always say Jabs saves me a lot of money haha
Thanks for the video and the information Jabs. There is ZERO chance I'll be buying 2023 Topps Chrome Black!!! That was awful!!
The one touches are worth more than the cards in them
Beautiful cards, true.... but it seemed like every box was maybe $30 in value. Ouch.
$160 I'd probably opt for two archives signature series. I'd agree around $100 or less would be much better but, unfortunately I don't see box prices crashing anytime soon.

You didn’t find a box that would get 75 dollars in value

nice design again. obviously the hoffman auto was good, but im going to assume a lackluster checklist overall.
I realize he isn't the same caliber as Trevor Hoffman but some people forget that Joe Nathan also started in the minors as a shortstop for the Giants and ended up having a wonderful career as a closer.
Very good!!! Not enough to get into the HOF, but he was amazing with the Twins!
I got some Joe Nathan Autos wanna buy em?
Love how he got so frustrated that he just started ripping cases so fast 😭😭
😂
That Mark Appel auto made me feel good about my Travis Ishakawa out of Archives. I literally threw the card into traffic.
😆 you threw it into traffic??
@@JabsFamily it was light traffic😬
$160 will buy a lot of HOFer cards.
Topps Chrome Black is a pass for me. Great video Jabs!!!
Ooof.... that was brutal. Beautiful cards. But this does seem somewhat superfluous if we've already had Cosmic. It's pretty much the same set.
I think one of the boxes may have broken even...the rest....yikes...I thought about it but at 40 bucks a card I thought it too risky. To be fair to Appel, he did tell the Pirates he wouldn’t sign if they drafted him and they did it anyway

Wheew rough autos inception is waaaay better
Wow, I really hope the breaks go better than that case tonight. If this is typical, I can't imagine anyone getting this over Inception.
Congratulations turning 2k into $50.00 in value. Personally, I would probably give about $20 for the entire lot of what you opened in that case. That has to be the biggest ripoff of 2023.
Nice looking cards. But my God that was a rough case. $159 a box and i doubt there was $159 in total value. Hopefully they aren't all like that.
That Jimmy Rollins auto is awesome
Thanks for the video, Jabs! Always appreciated! 🙏
Love that Jimmy Rollins 🎉🎉🎉 he might get in the HOF 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🎄
@@PHN-2024 😲💯 I guess
Never gets old 😊😊😊😊😊
Love that Trevor Hoffman card
I love TCB but may have to pass this year -remember when it was $130, have gotten at $100 one year later.
I gotta say I like the way you rip Jabs and you have a fair assessment of F for this crap
Wooooof!! You would think a case would have at least 1 big hit, right?? Ouch!!! Cards look nice though
I saw the checklist and this video confirmed it holy shit that was brutal!
Why is it Topps Chrome Black, but not Topps Chrome Cosmic? Everybody says Cosmic Chrome and I don't get why
I love the design but dang that was rough.
Brutal. That’s about all there is to say after watching this opening.
besides the hoffman, the case might have been worth two boxes 😭
Pretty underwhelming case Erik. I agree. Thanks for sharing the video and thanks for doing this for us.
Wait the boxes cost HOW much?
I knew there’s a reason I almost exclusively buy singles lol
id pay about $25 per box
That was rough. Lol. Only means hits are still out there!
Dam I like that dontrell willis card.
Yikes, hopefully just a bad set of boxes there. I don't think any of them got even half your money back. The base card parallels look nice, but overall I'm thinking this is a singles-only product for me.
Is garbage a grade?
You are insulting garbage...lol
yikes!!! i agree with you though the IDEA is a B grade but that case might have popped out $150 of value if you're lucky! Team breaks MIGHT be the only way to "win" on these. cool design though! which is a shame its such a bust (in this example)
What! Is Topps releasing all their product this week all at once. Lol
No, they will release hundreds of different products.
WTF With only 4 cards at 160 per box they should have left the scrub autos to big league or heritage. What a bust of a product!. This case may yield $150 so disappointing.
Brutal case!
You got $200 back from the case
What do these boxes run price wise by themselves? Anybody know?
$170 Shipped on eBay, awful return for the average collector. 😢
2k per case.
At that price a trevor hoffman auto should be the worst box not the best one. Ouch.
Man I’m kind of having buyers remorse
Mark Appel is retired not sure why he is even in this checklist.
I’d rip a whole case too if I paid distributor pricing …
As with about all 2023 Topps products, way too many Zonks!!! Even the good packs, like the Trevor Hoffman auto don’t come close to getting you your monies worth. Cards are beautiful, but I just can’t throw large sums of money at Topps products that are a sure fire waste of large sums of money. Fanatics/Topps is pushing me firmly into vintage cards only.
How many releases this week, month, year??? 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
At least the packing could be reused. Sooooooooooooo there's a win......
12 boxes $30 in return 1900 spent. Ouch 100% pass
I was wondering DO you sell like compete insert sets that we can buy. Since you open a ton of cards. Like the To the Moon insert set?
Great video, but....
worst case of the year?
I've never been a fan of Chrome Black
I would have puked violently if I bought that case. That whole case should be worth about $150
I love how the cards look but that was a bad case.
Dam!!!! That’s rough!!!!!
If anyone buys this product after seeing videos on youtube I won’t feel bad for them lol
Need to call these Topps Chrome Red because there is no chance of being in the black on this product.
So... 159.00 a pack or 40 dollars a card (super fail)
Don't mean to be rude but basic card collecting doesn't exist anymore not at 4 cards a box (aka: pack )

Well I learned from this video to stay far away from Topps Chrome Black this year.
Thanks for great video Jabs but I never received my November patreon package any info we be appreciated
Who on earth would want a Hall of fame auto over a rookie auto? Is there anyone else
Thank you! i know not to buy this product now
Oof. That case hurt
Couldnt Brady Aiken or Tyler Kolek be one of the worst picks around that draft
Appel shoulda just gone with the Pirates....
This is one of the worst cases I've ever seen
Great video! Thanks again. Those are a pass for sure.
I'm not even sure you got half the value back
Rough product based on that case
Topps finest, I think, is better. Too many pitchers auto on thede black
Hi Erik!
Absolutely brutal
Yikes that was bad
Love it
They gotta slash the releases per year in half these are as mundane as it gets
Wow that could be one of the worst cases I’ve ever seen… and $160 per box, maybe one of those autos would get you 1/4 of the way there lol
Yikes, most boxes yielding like $5-$20 of value. Pretty crappy stuff.
More like Topps Chrome black "eye"
Might be the worst case I have ever seen. Not a single box brought even half the value back.
Those boxes were AWFUL. I’m rethinking pulling the trigger one one of those now…
Can we all agree that Starling Marte has too much signatures and value in any of these boxes. I’m sick of seeing him in anything. Maybe 10 years ago but not now
Thesse releases...this hobby...thanks jabs. I'm done.
Love how they look but terrible value overall. I'll probably buy a few singles I like and skip the box
Yuck. Send those back. Topps should NEVER do anyone like this!!! A slap in the face to us all. Smh They are supposed to be the best, they need to act like the best. Unbelievable. You'd be lucky to get $159.00 out of all of those cards
Jesus Christ why are they releasing every product this month?! Too many products!!
3 this week! Tough to keep up. There’s not much coming after this though until stadium club in January
What in the world does GOD have to do with it??
Ouch
I'll pass on this product. If it was 80 dollars, maybe. I do like the design but get rid of the B level and C level players.
Less talky. More rippy
Worst baseball card product outside of any Panini line
Brutal 😢case - sorry for all involved- do better Topps/Fanatics
Terrible another way to just light money on fire.
smart money grab
So many bad autos!! Pitcher autos and Mark Appel who retired at age 26!
Holy crap these were absolutely awful. Design is really nice but that checklist is just disrespectful with that price tag.
Cards looks nice but not worth it at all
