I don't know how anybody can pay these prices for these boxes. Even the Brett and Jones cards probably wouldn't even get your money back. Brutal.
It's because of breakers, they make it feel cheaper
Try standing behind someone at the supermarket purchasing food for the week to feed a family of 5 or more. Those groceries are necessities to live. If anyone has disposable income to spend on these boxes, more power to them. It's a lottery ticket only you get better odds on three fifty dollar scratch offs as clearly stated on the backs with the average being better than a 1:3 ratio with the chance to score five million.
@@jukee67that’s why I gave up the hobby. With the prices of cards going up and then food even more, I chose food for the family over a hobby. I watch just to enjoy others who can afford the hobby.
Your in the wrong hobby , if you think you should make your money back on every box of cards you buy …this is a hobby , I no most treat it as a business , and yes it’s shameful the kids are priced out

@@nolanhildebrandthis isn’t even considered high end, $150 for a hobby box is cheap in todays world, quite sad $150 for 4 cards and your best card isn’t even gonna be the auto most the time

All these high cost, 4-6 card boxes is what's hurting the industry. I was looking at topps inception, and was looking for a good deal on singles. A family member was looking for J-rod cards. Found two Julio auto cards from inception numbered to 125 and 199, and got them both for less than the price of 2 boxes of randoms.
Everyone who watches this channel by now knows to never buy chrome black.

George Brett card with the pine tar would be awesome. Maybe have that be a legend auto in Topps Chrome or Topps Guilded.
I will just wait to buy singles of Chrome Black that I PC. $75 at the most I would pay.

I remember back in the day I used to be able to get like 12 to 15 cards in a pack in my opinion baseball cards were the best between 83 and 92

Yeah that's kind of every product these days. Most are lottery boxes unfortunately.
@@AxiGaming2026hidden gems like Joy of baseball, road to euros 2024, are tough to find but some of them do appreciate in value after release pretty well. Few and far between, but Black is deff one of the worst return on value since it's a mere 4 cards
What I like about these boxes is when the main card is a Pirates card, even if it's not a huge hit you can almost hear the "goshdarnit" in Jabs' voice because even if it's not equal in value to the price tag he's wishing he had that card.

Back in 2001 I bought 2 Hobby Boxes of Upper Deck Sweet Spot.....Both Signed Sweet Spot Cards were Darin Erstad.....So It happens.....The Chipper Is a Beautiful Card
Thanks for the video. I hear the general consensus being down on chrome black. I get it. It is overpriced. But I think average return is about 20% these days on Topps products in general. As someone who has thousands of cards, I’m not opening many flagship or heritage boxes anymore to get a $2 reliever patch. This is a bigger price, but comes through just as often in my opinion. And far more than the $500+ stuff.

I love the design of these but man, price is nuts. I'd buy a bunch of modest rookie raw singles and have them graded for value sake. But ripping is just the most fun. Can't do these this year though.

Pretty whack that they call it chrome black and it’s like a matte “paper” finish. And not like all of the other “Chrome” sets throughout the year
All these new products are so watered down now and they charge a premium for it.

Yeah they need to number every card in the packs. Definitely all autos. Even if it's like 999 for base. It doesn't seem special and doesn't sell good after opened

Topps has really stunk it up lately. For the cost of these boxes, population should be no more than /100. Saturation of the market with multiple sets (Base, Chrome, Black, Sapphire, etc.) of numbered autos or just plain white patch swatches can cause the valuation to drop.
Wasn't a fan of chrome black 23 and it's not looking good for 24.
$3 autograph cards should not be in these boxes

At that price point, you shouldn't be going who, on prospects. Even if the lower level autos were mlb players and not call ups. You might find fans of teams liking the product better.

Quality of these compared to archives is not even in the same ball park. I'll pay 100-150 for these all day. Everything is still a lottery with wax we all know that. At least these will gem 85% of the time.

2024 Topps Black Chrome? The design seems like it's a prototype style f Stars of the MLB that never made the cut. Bad Price Point, Imma enjoy Bowman and Heritage and avoid this one.
