Thank you - we have always been inclusive and hopefully always will be. After a few fallow years, we are back to our best since 2017 in my view - and a ton of talent in the juniors, some of which has been on show already this season.
I was super pleased - after seeing the announcement that Amara was playing - that Amara actually got to bowl [and bowled well too]. Too often we see such announcements and the woman, or junior [or whatever] who is proclaimed as making an historic debut, is in fact, nothing more than a decorative road cone. Kudos to Sanderstead Firsts for having the courage of their convictions, and not just using Amara to make up the numbers. Apropos of the blindingly obvious: Amara is massively talented. Welcome back to Mikey Sorry/ not sorry about the rugby.
Thank you for you thoughtful comments - we share your views on Amara. Sanderstead is a progressive club, and we have a skipper to match. Good times in the horizon….
Jallen having a week out to rest his knee - with Mikey back and playing bottom club it was felt a risk worth taking. And it gave Amara a chance to have a taste 1st XI cricket
I'm not sure I can get used to such calmness and tranquility after The madness of last week. Textbook performance. Things you love to see: first slip wearing a woolly hat in July, and Amara outshining the overseas. Exciting to watch young talent given a chance - then see them grab it with both hands 💪
Bought back memories seeing Amara. I was 16 when I got the calledt o play in Hampshire division 3 which was a fairly decent standard back in 87. I probably bowled about 60 mph so I had to rely on a fairly metronomic line & length. She's definately a shade quicker than I was & her line & length is pinpoint. Going to be a real talent.
I had the pleasure of Captaining a young lass from Barnsley as she stepped into senior cricket. Her name, Katherine Brunt. Line and length immaculate early teens.... her pace developed later.. Good luck Amara! Have no fear 👊
Another great performance by the team. Surely coming together like a proper unit! Great to see the team hitting it off beautifully after the last couple of seasons. And Amara, she has some serious talent right there! Holding her own in a 1st XI match is exceptional. Moving on to the next!
Amara has super impressive control of line and length, great spell that should have got more reward. Wonderful to see her bowling, hopefully much higher honors on the horizon.
Dan, Thanks for showing more of Amara bowling. I must admit that my comment on the previous video was based on some strange optical illusion of the camera; Amara's action is fine and does indeed look relaxed and smooth, her front arm shows no sign of falling away and her head, at the point of delivery, looks still. Pardon me while I get back to eating my words....I am due into LHR on Wed morning so may contact you later if my brother is well enough for a trip down.
Thanks Michael - pretty sure your coaching suggestions on the previous video were about another of our talented girls, not Amara, so you’re off the hook! Be great if you can pay a visit. Cheers!
Excellent bowling by the young lady and she’s a real talent you have there. Good to see a good victory after last weeks antics. As ever, thank you for the commentary.
Brilliant to see Amara given the opportunity, and great control and temperament from her👏👏👏 My 15 year old grandson is a left arm spinner in the Berkshire county set up, ❤and this season jumped from his clubs third XI into the first XI. Despite my reservations about the rapid rise in standard, the club has been brilliant and ensured he gets a full game, even opening the bowling some games. A couple of weeks back he took 5-22 against Reading First XI and last time I looked he was the leagues leading wicket taker. It takes real trust and courage for good standard clubs to give talented kids the shot they deserved, so well done Sanderstead👏👏
Thanks - I agree it is important to be progressive and push our best talent forward. Unlike the “grown ups”, our youngsters will get so much better and respond to whatever situation is thrown at them.
A comfortable Sanderstead win - for a change. What a great spell from Amara great action , line and length making the batsmen have to play every ball - great to see a definite talent for the future 👍👍
Great to see SCC winning !!! and also great to see Amara debut in first XI, remember a video of a sunday match in wich she was playing some time ago... lovely action and great bowling.... hope she continues to get chances to play with first team....
Nice to see Amara playing, 25 years ago we had a young lady play as we were one short when we used to play league games on Bank Holiday Mondays, she was actually one of our players gf's and normally our tea lady and had never played before. Didn't bowl but did get to bat, which led to a dilemma, she was run out as she stopped to stop her borrowed whites...slightly to big...from falling down!!! at the time we didn't question it, as a captain would you have withdrawn the appeal?
Solid win. Nice work. Good debut from your young bowler, she bowled at the stumps - it's not rocket science so it was good to see a young bowler not try to complicate things and keep it nice and simple. The up top bats set the scene for the run chase. Nice and aggressive. Well done all.
Oi! Wot did you do with the summer? You could have kept this video back and uploaded it October. Good to see Sanderstead 1st XI looking solid and calling up a very promising young talent.
Great to see young Amara making the step up. A useful secret weapon - at her height she's going to zipping it through at a level most oppostion won't be used to. Should have had a second wicket if the fielders weren't planespotting!!
when i played years ago,had 2 woman in our team,1 batted at 4 and the other was a offie,no doubt we would never of won the comp without either of them.
Dan, whilst it is fantastic you get these uploads ready so fast on Saturday night, I hope you don’t feel obliged too, you should be able to enjoy a couple of pints after a fine victory without worrying about editing and all that
Thanks for your kind thoughts! The reality is that I have a really efficient way of editing - I film ball by ball and delete as I film so that I am left with maybe 30-45 mins cat the end of the match. I then complete the edit in about an hour (do a bit at tea) whilst enjoying a pint of pilgrim (or perhaps 2) - then home to Mrs A. The alternative is to do it on a Sunday and tbh I’d rather get it all out of the way quickly. Glad you enjoy it.
I think the firsts got relegated last season - what is clear is that the current level of talent is such that they are slightly too good for this grade and slightly not quite competitive for the one above in terms of consistency: to that end, for promotion and ongoing survival at the next tier they either need to attract a major talent [or put Amara and Luca in time machines] and/or massively improve consistency.
Yes - relegated last season, but now in 2nd place and hoping for promotion where we would be much better placed to compete at Division 3 level in 2025.
It was a funny day - we had to hang around for 2 hours for the square to dry and rain to stop and we had given up hope of play - then out we went! It took a while for the lads to get their heads in the game with no warming up.
What's this all about? Am easy win, we want more thrillers.. boring. Congrats on the win and congrats to Amara on her maiden first team wicket, great stuff!
@@SandersteadCCTV whatever happened to Simon Carter? Love seeing GJackson playing Prem Cricket and Tricky captaining up in Div 1… what a youth set up when you look back.
Amara...what an action. Brilliant. The sizzle of bacon sarnies finally got to Mikey. Lovely looking ground. Missing Will and Jallen but still looking like new blood. Amara's inclusion is epic😘👍
Thanks Mike - that’s 5 wins from the last 5 games. Credit Jake Scaz for creating the right team spirit in which everyone is thriving. Great to have Mikey back and hopefully he and Jallen playing together for a few games. Next 3 matches are against top 4 sides and likely to decide promotion chances. Exciting!! Best we’ve been since 2017

Amara is definitely going to be one to watch, fantastic talent at such a young age.

@@SandersteadCCTV Has Amara been picked for higher honours? She bowls an excellent line and length with decent pace.

Chris has a touch of the Mark Waughs about him when in full flight like that - great to watch.
He’s in top form - even with a broken finger!!!
That young lady has a lovely action, and great line and length , as an ex opening batsman that line and length is very difficult to score off
