Well while based on a real location it is an amalgamation in the case of the Cascade Kingdom. The Cascade Kingdom concept art probably is showing Noshis and that one Pterodactyl from Dino Dino Jungle. I think the Chincho might be based on the Chinchorro Mummies. I don't think the Bowser Kingdom is the Koopa Kingdom but rather somewhere Bowser conquered.

Hearing that the Shiverians were based off of harp seals made the Snow Kingdom my favorite kingdom in the game.
