Mine's gonna have to be pink gin. Squeeze in 2 lime wedges and a dash of raspberry syrup to give it a nice color and you get yourself a really nice, refreshing drink. I've turned all my friends that hate gin, into loving gin with this cocktail. :D
Tequila and tonic is a very underrated combo! I think the first drink I ever "invented" was basically that. I was at a party and there was tonic but no gin in sight - so I grabbed some tequila. Thinking it might not be complete I splashed some triple sec in there before adding the tonic.
I think I would choose the tequila and grapefruit. I love a Paloma so this sounds really good to me. I often make a G&T with a splash of St. Germaine. Gin adds the dry counterpart to keep it from being too sweet. 😊
A common drink in my neck of the woods is a French gimlet: 2 Oz Plymouth Gin 1 Oz St. Germaine 1/2 Oz fresh lime juice. Shaken in a tin with ice til frosty. Strain into a coupe. Garnish with a thin wheel of lime.
In quarantine I got into a old dream/hobby of mine and built a home bar for my friends n family. I got into rum, tequila and vodka spirits to start making cocktails. And you helped me A LOT!! I'm just curious how to clean your equipment between drinks. I usually rinse with just hot water. Is it smart or dumb? Might be a stupid question but a question I'm wondering nonetheless. :)
Here heeee! And here I am drunk on my new favorite! Gin, simple sirap, 1 cl tequila and lemon juice. Idk if it's a cocktail or not but I love it and my GF seems to love it as well! You got my into mixing drinks so thank you! My home bar (in quarantine) has improved a lot :D
I tried the vermouth and tonic, well, diet tonic since I'm diabetic. It's fabulous! I took it to a small family birthday party and it was a hit, even for the younger gen! So refreshing
Is Espresso Tonic common cocktail in your area? It kinda varies in Europe. Somewhere it is very common, somewhere else the barista would look at you like a clown :)
I always use sugar-free tonic water so much better. The tequila and tonic was surprisingly delicious. I'm going to have that more often. I even enjoyed the driver move and tonic but it's slightly not boozy enough for me. I could probably add vodka or gin. Lol then I guess it makes it a competitive cocktail
I just gently crush blueberries and throw them into a bottle of gin to make a blueberry flavored liquor, it’s like combining your garnish and drinkable contents
I haven’t tried others but the much lower sugar content and rich coffee flavour would make it best.. I could imagine a sweet coffee liqueur + tonic would be overly sweet… similar to the elderflower liqueur and tonic.
Recently I went to a small festival in Poland and there I was looking for a Jagerbomb, they didn’t have any red bulls there, so the bartender made me something else. Not sure how popular are those in other countries, but I highly recommend trying out Jäger with ginger tonic and a lime wedge on top od that. Quite sweet, but I loved it personally. Would love to hear your thoughts on it!
For my taste, I prefer 1:1 on dry vermouth tonic. Tonic flavor is a little too overpowering to me at 1:3. Also definitely going to try out the coffee liquor one!
Have you tried Martini Fiero/Ramazotti Rosato with tonic? Both work exceptionally well and complement the flavors better than Campari or Amaro Montenegro!
You should try Cognac and tonic! I actually got to know it in Cognac, when I visited. I like it unsweetened, but they serve it with a dash of syrup. I very much want to try your vermouth and tequila ones
Thank you so much for this. Been having restless leg syndrome 😕 and cramps 😫. I even had to call out work today because I couldn't drive to go to work. But I wouldn't mind having a drink but I hate tonic water at least this will be fun to make! Thank you! BTW will Q water work?
My top 3, other than G&T's: 1) Vermouth & Tonic (out here in Latvia we have a local red vermouth, made from apple/chokeberry wine, it's not as sweet as italian or french vermouths, thus goes great in negronis and manhattans, but also stands up well to the sugar content of most tonic water - I prefer a 2:3 ratio though, so the tonic is more muted; 2) Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao and tonic - this made me go through half of my Curacao bottle within a couple weeks - simply amazing, and a nice change to the gin combo; 3) Split-base Campari and Montenegro and tonic - not too bitter, not too sweet, but beautifully herbaceous, and can be improved with a dash of bitters of your preference, I like a bit of Peychaud's or some grapefruit ones. Will have to try the Mr. Black and tonic though, could be awesome. Thanks for these drinks, Steve!
Really enjoy your channel, as you've inspired me to explore different cocktails. Did you mess up your goatee? 😂 Almost looks one sided! Keep up the great work!!
Fascinating!! I'm a "gin & tonic" kind of guy......... but I'm open to new experiences, too! Never would have thought about pairing tonic with these choices....... gonna get right in it........😉
When I have tonic in the house it's either coffee or Mr Black Amaro for me. If you use the Tassimo pods for espresso and add tonic to it, you get a semi-stable foam on top that can rise above the rim like a RGF.
Nice vid!! I just got a few tonics to try out but I have no clue which liquor I should mix it with. I've got a tonic with pomegranate and basil and an elder flower tonic. Any suggestions??
Well would love to see you make "Doralto" another easy to make at home Tequila n Tonic combo. Surprisingly few cocktail videos on it :( . Surprisingly Tasty though ! :) Anyways Cheers from Mumbai, India mate (the birthplace of Indian tonic) !
It always gets me, that the amaro Montenegro isn't from Montenegro which would be nice, since I'm a couple hours drive to Montenegro. Anyways, awesome drinks as always!
You made me curious as to the origins of the name.. this is what I came across: “Amaro Montenegro was created in 1885 in Bologna by a young, passionate herbalist by the name of Stanislao Cobianchi, who named his concoction after Princess Elena of Montenegro, the future Queen of Italy.”
Love tonic- especially when I’m trying not to drink. Yes, I usually do it with gin and fresh citrus (usually lime and grapefruit). So I’m very interested in the tequila one. I’ve been meaning to get the blacks too- so that one also sounds great! Just so happen to have a new bottle of dry vermouth- so I’m excited to try that as well! So many great ideas to pair with!!! Thanks!
Recently tried the espresso and tonic and it was surprisingly refreshing. Tequila tonics are one of my long time favorites since doing a job where the lighting director's (Mexican) mother would bring him a certain drink at the end of each day's shooting. I made sure to get in her good graces and have been a fan of the combination ever since. One of my best memories, those end of day tonic deliveries. Your recipe is a classy level up! Thanks👍
Blanco tequila and tonic can be really nice but is really weird because some go well and others are terrible combined with tonic. Mr black, tonic and lemon though 😉
Dude this is awesome! Would never think to pair Mr B with tonic! My fave out of all these would have to be tequila with tonic! Love a good paloma style drink 😍😍
Tequila Tonic is excellent. Use a full two ounces of the tequila, squeeze in a full half of lime, fill with ice, and top with tonic, garnish with the spent lime hull.
Been watching you vids for about 3 years time and im now the cocktail maker at our anual party at work. Let's just say people like it and looking forward to it every year thanks a bunch for the vids and new cocktails grettings from norway😊
What's your favour liquor to mix with tonic?
Coffee Cocktail Challenge starts 29th September: ua-cam.com/video/b6jliMA2N-w/v-deo.html
Mine's gonna have to be pink gin.
Squeeze in 2 lime wedges and a dash of raspberry syrup to give it a nice color and you get yourself a really nice, refreshing drink.
I've turned all my friends that hate gin, into loving gin with this cocktail. :D
Do you use a pink gin or do you call it a pink gin because you’ve added the syrup/colour yourself? Just curious..
@@StevetheBartender_ i’m using a pink gin :)
Given that you’re using the addition of raspberry syrup… you should try a Clover Club! 🙌
Really like Becherovka with tonic ('BeTon' - concrete in czech)
The vermouth with tonic sounds amazing. Will surely try it!
Tequila and tonic is a very underrated combo! I think the first drink I ever "invented" was basically that. I was at a party and there was tonic but no gin in sight - so I grabbed some tequila. Thinking it might not be complete I splashed some triple sec in there before adding the tonic.
i get that 'it aint complete' feeling whenever making drinks for other people and it usually is a trap lol
You should try the tequila with the East Imperial Grapefruit tonic. In fact, I'll give it a go this afternoon.
Kudos for the Tequila Herradura amigo! Most people outside Mexico drink doggyshit tequila. You are a pro, cheers and enjoying your channel a lot
What’s the tonic brand you’re using Steve?
Fever tree
Awesome, the sell it near me!
I think I would choose the tequila and grapefruit. I love a Paloma so this sounds really good to me. I often make a G&T with a splash of St. Germaine. Gin adds the dry counterpart to keep it from being too sweet. 😊
Espresso and tonic is a classic, I can see Mr Black going well with tonic too
Steve these look really good. You could definitely add a tonic to a Pineapple Screw driver.
Wooo my two favorite bartenders! 👏
@@PsychoJunior1 Thank you :)
For all of you non-drinkers: Espresso-tonic
Surprisingly good. Especially with a orange peel zest
It's still gin but gin, elderflower, grapefruit and tonic is one of my favorites
Nice! Elderflower liqueur? Fresh grapefruit juice..?
One of my favorites - but I also add a little rosemary to make it 🔥
A common drink in my neck of the woods is a French gimlet:
2 Oz Plymouth Gin
1 Oz St. Germaine
1/2 Oz fresh lime juice.
Shaken in a tin with ice til frosty. Strain into a coupe. Garnish with a thin wheel of lime.
One of my favorite eps so far. You should do more explorations like these. I like hearing your feedback too
I use a Fever-Free Sparkling Pink Grapefruit for Palomas with a splash of fresh lime juice. Refreshing!
I’m a gin and tonic girl, but I just had bourbon and tonic with lime this week on vacation. It was very, very nice. 👍🏻
In quarantine I got into a old dream/hobby of mine and built a home bar for my friends n family. I got into rum, tequila and vodka spirits to start making cocktails. And you helped me A LOT!! When all you have is tonic and Straggle bottles. A true alcoholics salvage.
Straggle bottles…?
@@StevetheBartender_ left over bottles in the cabinet.

Not here but I’ve seen lots of comments suggesting it - I’m going to try it for sure!!
The Monte & Tonic is delicious, and I like to use diet tonic so I'm not getting any high fructose corn syrup.
45ml of Sweet Vermouth
15ml of Campari
Ice
SCHWEPPES TONIC WATER
and Garnish with Lemon Wheel
Enjoy 😎😃🍹
I always use sugar-free tonic water so much better.
The tequila and tonic was surprisingly delicious. I'm going to have that more often. I even enjoyed the driver move and tonic but it's slightly not boozy enough for me. I could probably add vodka or gin. Lol then I guess it makes it a competitive cocktail
Cynar tonic 😌
Good call!!
Thoughts on the rum & tonic (popularized with Mount Gay)? It's been my go-to summer cocktail for years now. I also experiment with various aged rums.
Steve, cheers from Portugal, here! You must really try Port & Tonic! All the best and keep up with the good content!
I just gently crush blueberries and throw them into a bottle of gin to make a blueberry flavored liquor, it’s like combining your garnish and drinkable contents
Tried the Mr. Black and tonic. Pretty good! Needs something though. Bitters perhaps or citrus?
Hi, Steve, Jägermeister with Tonic, works also.....
Can you use any good coffee liquor for the 2nd drink or is it mr. black in particular that goes well with tonic water? Thank you
I haven’t tried others but the much lower sugar content and rich coffee flavour would make it best.. I could imagine a sweet coffee liqueur + tonic would be overly sweet… similar to the elderflower liqueur and tonic.
@@StevetheBartender_ Alright, thanks for the quick response and great video!
Mr Black+Lime Tonic🥶😱Not sure about it but will try👩🏻🌾😘
Last summer i had a white Port, filled up with Tonic, just some lemon for the acidity.. Try it. Great stuff, nice aperitif.
Recently been drinking discarded vermouth and light tonic - I can confirm it’s the bomb; can’t get enough of that combination right now 👌🏻
Would u try a Kalua n tonic.. well more like a Kalua and sonic (Soda n Tonic) to lower the sugar on the Kalua maybe?
I'll try it some day
I would have to try Mr Black. I just started drinking it an really Mr. Black
I’m currently brokeish and trying to drink what I have in house and I found that triple sec and tonic is really good lol and kinda taste like sprite
Hang fire Steve . I’m on my way over to help you clear up🇬🇧😂
can you make some recipe of moctail may be use based tea or anything else
Well i casually drink jager tonic, but it may be mainstream enough so dunno.
Where did you get those highballs?
I've had them for a very long time so not sure exactly... they are a Libbey highball.
thank you. i love gin drinks but hate the taste of gin, maybe its just the gin I've gotten but its just wrong.
Recently I went to a small festival in Poland and there I was looking for a Jagerbomb, they didn’t have any red bulls there, so the bartender made me something else. White port and tonic! Lots of mint and a few slices of lemon to garnish. So refreshing.
hey sir, i have some project to make some moctail has something to do with harry potter, can you make some drink like that?
3 of the five sound good.
Coffee, Elderflower, tequila
Cognac and tonic ain’t shabby at all either 🤤
I’ll have to try it!
Love these and you but the shelves should be black. Looks more like a clinic rather than a bar.
Can you do some cocktails with aqvavite?
Grand Marnier and tonic with a slice of orange for garnish.
A Mr. Black and lemon but uses orange..🧐
Not alcoholic but espresso and tonic is amazing
Kat Kam... When do we get to see the wonderful Kat by the bar!
All of these sound pretty good, but i think i'd start with the coffee one, then the tequila one then the elder flower one.
Calvados and tonic is pretty killer as well.
"Studio's on a budget" i hear ya. Same here. .
Is this the new set-up 🤔
Yup!
For my taste, I prefer 1:1 on dry vermouth tonic. Tonic flavor is a little too overpowering to me at 1:3. Also definitely going to try out the coffee liquor one!
I hear you - could definitely go heavier in favour of the vermouth!
......And we need Kat's opinion next time!
I`ll go to the nearest shop for the botle of gin :D
Have you tried Martini Fiero/Ramazotti Rosato with tonic? Both work exceptionally well and complement the flavors better than Campari or Amaro Montenegro!
I don’t think either are available keen in Australia, as far as I know..
Nice thinking to pair up those with tonic!
What no “shake and smile”? Lol
Elderflower and tonic.
Glad to see you at a tall man’s bar, Steve!
You should try Cognac and tonic! I actually got to know it in Cognac, when I visited. I like it unsweetened, but they serve it with a dash of syrup.

Interesting in trying MrBlack & tonic, although that grapefruit, tequila and tonic looked tasty too.
hate gin...so thanks
The tequila and tonic is very close to a drink called "Ranch Water" which substitutes Topochico for tonic...

espresso n tonic water hits the spot like an ice tea gets that thirst 😋 for the non alcoholic version xxx I also use the coffee padron tequila
Steve what brand of tonic are you using, is it available in the United States 🇺🇸
Fever Tree… I’m unsure what is available in the US, sorry..
I've seen them in the US but I'm not sure if they're in all 50 states. I usually see them in Walmart by the cocktail mixers section.
My favorite is a gin and tonic with a splash of chambord and a slice of orange
The Vermouth sounds really good can't wait to try.
The Tequila & Tonic has to be my fav out of these. Looks delicious
The paloma and tonic sounds delightful
I like the paloma tonic...will try it this evening!
Ive done the tequila one but didnt think it existed as a thing.
smoky mezcal and tonic is my new favorite
Oooo, nice call!
Baustard I’ll have to try that! Have a bottle sitting there untouched
