Cara, I played this over and over just to follow your Tom Collins recipe and it was outstanding. Thank you. Every time I watch your videos I learn something new. Cheers.
Whilst I'm not much of a gin drinker I do love a Gimlet. I always have lime cordial in the fridge, but that's a nifty trick with the marmalade, will try that . It was also a favourite of Crime Author Raymond Chandler, and I sometimes follow his very simple recipe of two jiggers of gin one of lime cordial, shake or stir with shaved ice and into a chilled glass. Done ! In the hottest of weather I sometimes put this into a highball glass and top with lime infused tonic water for what I call 'A Long Good Gimlet' after his novel 'The Long Goodbye'. it keeps me amused .
Not so fond of cucumber in gin; reminds me of Hendricks. I like a take on a gimlet where fresh juniper berries are muddled in a Boston shaker before the other ingredients are added. This adds pretty green colour and reinforces the gin element. Your Jabberwocky cocktail is awesome - I had never made one before. Great work!
Just tried the white lady while preparing supper! That was really really good! Dangerous good! Thanks for sharing your expérience with us! By the way your very charming! Happy holidays!
It's hard for me to say which one is my favorite. A Basil Smash is outstanding, as is a Gordon's Cup. I make many Tom Collins as well. The one that really stands out though is the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a; Tiki is a favorite. These videos are excellent quality. The detailed explanations are very helpful to non-industry home enthusiasts like myself. Cheers!
I learnt something new, I had never heard of that tiki drink! I’ll have to get some pineapple and try it 😊 thank you. And I’m really glad you’re enjoying the videos!
wow I've never heard of that tiki drink but it looks fantastic. I love tiki bars but usually don't like traditional tiki cocktails (not the biggest rum fan). I'm excited to try it
A London dry basil martini. Fresh and herbal and delightful for all the senses. Handful of Genovese basil in the bottom of a Shaker, muddle until macerated, 1/2 oz good dry vermouth such as Noilly Prat, 2 oz of a London dry or similar style clean gin with a pronounce herbal yet not overwhelmingly Piney character. Shake and strain into glass. If you want it a little smoother just a few drops of olive juice ads that nice bit of brine.
Greetings from San Antonio, Texas. Just found your channel and I think is Amazing!..... Fun with easy and very interesting cocktail recipes that we can make at home. Just like to thank you to made me rediscover Gin trying couple of cocktails you showed in this video. Just became fan of you. Excellent job. Congrats!
OMG, the jabberwocky! I have not had a connection to stirred drinks before - I started with a negroni and it was just way too bitter for my taste - but that one was an instant hit. Thank you so much for showing it!
Good timing, I bought a bottle of Gin tonight after work. I saw that Green Ant Gin that’s pretty cool with the ants in the bottom. Love the Gimlet, from memory I don’t think I enjoyed the White Lady, will have to try the Eastside and Jabberwocky. My fav is the Ramos Gin Fizz.
First let me say "Hi" to you, because I'm new to this channel, but I've already seen dozens of your videos during a couple of days. As for gin based cocktails I've obviously tried a classic G&T, but the one that surprised me with its freshness was actually the one that was missing here. THE SOUTHSIDE you've shown seems to be having the most similar refreshing effect. But here's what I want to share - Gin Basil Smash. Here is the recipe for you all: 40 ml Gin 20 ml simple syrup A handful of basil leaves A Half of lemon PREPARATION: Put basil with half of lemon into the shaker and muddle gently. Next put syrup and gin, top up with ice and shake well. Strain into old fashioned glass filled with ice and serve. So now you know ;-) (I've already fallen in love with this hook line at the end of your every recipe, a great signature line :) ). I'm also subscribed to a channel made by a Polish (like me) bartender and he says at the end of his recipes something like: "Have fun, experiment, contrive, but remember - don't overdo it!" :D
This channel makes my quarantine so much enjoyable. So glad you're using local product, but also wish you would be in Canada to use gin from Quebec! Pretty sure our spirits would blow your mind!
Hey, I've just started getting into cocktails, I've been watching your videos for a while now, your channel and "how to drink" made me want to start so thank you for that. I've tried a couple of cocktails and I can confidently say that the gin gimlet is my favorite yet. I've experimented with different ingredients, playing with bitters to get something fitting for my taste, it's like discovering a brand new world. That's all I had to say so now you know ;) Thank you for that, keep up the great work!
Gin Gimlets, but often end up using lemons if that's all I have on hand. Your suggestion to use lime marmalade sounds like a great way to up the flavor profile! I'd love to see a similar overview of cognac or brandy cocktails.
You are my absolute favorite bartender on UA-cam! If you ever make your way out to Nashville make sure to let me know! I'll be glad to buy you a drink where I bartend.
Was getting a bit bored with gin and tonic, never realized I had everything I needed for a white lady right at my home bar. Now gotta get some eggs! Thanks for the video!
Basil Gimlet My summer favorite. Muddle 6 fresh basil leaves, teaspoon of sugar in the raw, and 30ml lime juice. Add 60 ml gin. Fill with ice. Shake and strain. Qualifies as a salad in my book. Cheers y’all.
Just found you on here and have been watching so many of your videos! Thank you for taking the time to show us what you know! I’m building my home bar this past year and your content is such an invaluable addition to my education!!
Seems like adding rose’s lime marmalade, plus lime juice plus simple syrup can makes and effect that can be achieved with just the original rose’s lime juice.
Of course if you have that to hand and find it easier then go for it! Lime cordial just has a lot of fruit concentrate and flavours, artificial preservatives etc whereas decent lime marmalade is basically just lime and sugar. I like having the fresh lime juice in there still and just a tiny tangy sweetness from the marmalade- I find cordial overwhelms the other ingredients 😊
Royal-Tea: Gin & chilled Earl Grey tea is about as simple as it gets for me. 10 ml simple syrup (or use Old Tom if it's in your bar) if it's a little brash on the palate.
Ahmad’s Cardamom tea infused gin (I used Greenalls) 60 ml, 30 ml fresh lemon juice, 20 ml simple syrup, shake over ice and serve up in a coupe with a twist or float some orange bitters on it.
Love the series, keep it up. Giant Gin fan; grew up on the Tom Collins but havent had one in decades. Will revisit soonest. Any plans to feature Sloe Gin? Havent had a Sloe gin Fizz in years either.

Hahaha I’ll never live this down! Josh (behind the camera) asked why I never use Hendricks. It’s a great gin but we focus on Aussie and Spanish at Bomba so don’t have it on the back bar, and I find that people who know and love Hendricks are usually happy to try something similar that fits in our theme. Josh sensed the possibility for some controversy and popped that in there 🙈
