Prof. Irfan Habib sahab se guftugu ho to wo kitni qeemti hogi iska andaza krna mushkil hai..Aise scholar ko sunna fakhr ki baat hai..Kyunki yahan jazbaat se nahin haqiqat se guftugu hoti hai...Tradition se zyada reason per focus kiya jata hai...

Irfan Saheb is very frail and twilight of his life. More such conversations ahould be recorded off him to get the gist of his whole life studying history. The topics he touches in - no 9ne has even heard about it before. Esp fascinating was Akbar and Dara Shikoh thought dufferences. Amazing interview.. thanks

The Interviewer has good voice and way of asking questions. Questions are also good. But he jumps from one topic to another too fast without exploriing anything in detail. Only touches them superficiously.

Recently came across an interview on Lallantop, where KK Mohd the archeologist (related to Ram Janmbhoomi) gave a scathing criticism of Irfan Habib. I am finding it hard to respect his opinions after watching that interview.
Specific to this interview, you may be right. I too feel that Irfan Habib sahib is not the subject matter expert for most of questions asked anyway.
Sir, As an Indian muslim historian the fate of mughal sultanate is well known to all historians.
Mr Jinnah had opened a door for all Indian Muslims. The tragedy is that Indian muslims overwhelmingly did not avail that opportunity and ended up in perennial confusion and pain.

And they ( musalmsn) did defend India in 1979,in 1994,in 2001,in 2020 did you understand how I believe you did if not open the books and observe the recent past happenings specially from 1979 till 2020 and even now!! Yes the statement was foolish but ironically it got true when Pakistan buffered the whole geopolitics after 1947!!

Hindu sabda perian(farsi ) sabda hai arbi nahi .The Persians designated the land around the Indus River as Hindu, a mispronunciation of the Sanskrit sindhu(river) . Then this word commonly used by many Islamic rulers/invaders during their rule ,with The course of time this word is accepted by common mass .

आदरणीय हबीब साहब:- आपने मानव गणेश के सिर पर हाथी का सिर लगाने पर कटाक्ष किया और हिन्दू ओ के कुछ धार्मिक विश्वास पर कटाक्षकिया लेकिन मुस्लिम्स के स्वर्ग और वहाँ मिलने वाली सुरा सुन्दरी पर चर्चा तक नही किया.पृथ्वी चपटी है इस पर भी कुछनही कुछ नही कहा.
मैनै ईसाई धर्म मे भी बहुत से अन्ध विश्वास देखा हैऔर पढा है
मेरा आशय यह है कि जहाँ धर्म हैवही पाखन्ड भी है और काल्पानिक कहानियाँ भी है. कोई भी धर्म इससे अछूता नही है.
इंटरव्यू बिल्कुल भी मूल्यवान नहीं है। इंटरव्यू लेने वाले ने इतिहास की जटिल और विवादित सिद्धांतों, निष्कर्षों पर बात नहीं की। इतिहास की विभिन्न पद्धतियों पर भी बात नहीं की।
जिस मयार के इरफ़ान हबीब साहब हैं उस मयार के सवाल पूछने वाले नहीं हैं, बल्कि बात करने के दौरान वे हबीब साहब के सामने बहुत दबे-दबे से लगे

Since it was Rekhta foundation which was interviewing,a few questions on Urdu was bound to be asked.The interviewer tried to ask all possible questions to Prof Irfan Habib in limited time slot. Nice and informative interview session.

He is no legend in India. He has a blot over him for misleading the Muslim community over Ayodhya. He and his students lied in the court of law about Ram Janmabhoomi. His knowledge is restricted to only Muslim community and Delhi centric Mughal history

Lagta hai interviewer historian se nahin kiai poet se baat kar raha hai. Are bhai historian se tareekh ke swaal poocho , political sawal poocho. Magar wahi tendency jo kuch bhi hai urdu hai. Poor interviewer
