Acer Garnet, old one out and new one in

I have had a Garnet since 2017 that has developed very nice and have had good growth each year. This year however it wasn't able to leave out properly, and basically just dried out. What I think happened is that I previously have pruned it in a way that have exposed the main trunk to much. So when the tree gained a certain hight it was unprotected from the wind in spring while leafing out. So this is really an example of learning by failing, and my new Garnet will not be pruned that way at all.

Hi there! Your history about trying to keep the maples there where you live is sad but is great to know that you are trying all the best!!! Against the weather is hardly fight and I wish all the luck every year. Maybe…just thinking maybe the climate change will bring more heat to your land in the next years, who knows?
