beautiful plants and very nice video. i live in coastal central california and have not put one (japanese maple) in due to the leaf burning issue and our lack of water/cost of watering. my yard is windy and your discovery to locate near a good source of water is a very interesting solution to this.
I love these Jeff i have 2 a green and a purple both in large pots which just get better every year and compared to the palmatums i find them alot less problematic.
I also have two of these maples. the green one needs re-potting NOW. Have not done in over 5 yrs. I don't want to wait for winter, and would like to re-pot now, June 2, 2019. Have you ever re-potted during summer months? Can't find much on youtube. thanks. I noticed you live in Danville. I live 6 miles north of Santa Cruz.
Can these be treated and cut as a bush? i prefer them to red barberries
I guess so, probably depends what size you want to them to be.
about 3 to 4 feet, Thank you Jeff
Danny, you probably won't like the result, and for half of the year it will be pretty gnarly.
Mine is 20 yrs old and I keep it cut umbrella shape at 6ft. tall.
