I guess one of the cool things about putting together a cosplay from a stylized pixel-graphic game is that you can indeed make up your own fine details. It's gorgeous work!
Blasphemous is a really special piece for how deeply southern Spanish culture is ingrained in its identity. There's fascinating in-depth analyses out there on all the references, from mythology and history to art and even just architecture.
Likewise, the effort into such a physical costume is a very special piece as well. I feel like this word may be getting used a bit too much in recent times for it to have the impact it once did, but the detailings on Mea Culpa's blade and handle, the pauldrons and other armor plates, and the thorned vines of the helmet are immaculate.
Initially wanted to write a compliment in the flowery language I dearly love within Blasphemous, but it was not nearly as skilled and the essence got muddled, so instead i'll leave it at that this work is really cool, and I hope it delights and inspires many.
The picture at 26:51 looks very striking, though the preceding image of the Penitent One sitting on an edge and kicking their feet in the air was oddly cute.

My friend lives now in a very religious part of Spain. It's probably Seville. They have some majestic katolik festivals where people dressing up like Penitent One with the similar hats.😊
That kind of traditional costume is a "traje de nazareno" if you're interested. It's worn by some catholics during Holy Week's processions. That happens all throughout Spain, but Seville (where most of the devs are from) is specially known for their processions and Holy Week celebrations.

Wow! Back in 2020 my son played this Blasphemous and wanted to cosplay The Penitent One as well. I never finished it. Yours turned out amazing! Makes me want to try again to create this awesome character.

My current D&D character is in part based on The Penitent One vibes, and in part based on the Undead Flesh LARP's aesthetic in Europe. He axe, however, is HEAVILY inspired by the Mea Culpa sword, so a lot of what you did here was really inspiring! I definitely am coming away from this with a bunch of tips for when I cosplay my D&D character. I'm subscribing!
That is the best cosplay i've seen so far from blasphemous cosplay, the iconic pose at 26:09, by itself just give me the push to redoing the game. That picture 26:51 i love it the filter match well the game's ambient and the mea culpa is well crafted.

This is phenomenal! Can't believe it's taken this long for me to find this channel haha! I was thinking if you wanted to take the realism factor a little bit further you could mix some darker/ gorier reds into the central parts of the blood splatters. Similar to the SKS Berserk sword build? Just an idea of course, in many ways yours is more faithful to the game art aesthetic anyway. Great job, you deserve countless more subscribers!
Yeah I thought about adding darker blood like on my Combat Medic but I just loved they way the red blood was so bright in the game! I plan on doing the blood helmet scene and I might add more realistic blood!!

This was incredible! Strangely enough, I loved the rope tassels the most. It's such a small detail, but the way they look really feels like they come straight from the world of Blasphemous. It was probably unintentional, but using rope was a brilliant choice.

youtube just recommended me this video and honestly i'm so happy that it did because you did such an amazing work🙏 i would've loved to see your attempt on trying to make a cosplay of shern from On the Silver Globe by Andrzej Żuławski (1988 polish movie), but the only references available would've been the movie itself since the costumes (and things such as sets, props etc) were destroyed due to the government at the time

I love the build! Absolutely inspring! I would suggest investing in a good respirator for using barge cement and burning foam from a safety and health standpoint as they are both linked to some not so fun long term health effects.
