For anyone who hasn't played, or is planning to play again, I highly suggest playing with voices in Spanish, the dub is the best you can get in Spain, and it really adds to the Semana Santa theme, so do yourself a favor, same goes for both games.
Spanish just sounds way too gay, i just can't take the characters seriously especially in this game the voice actors try way too hard to sound epic and badass it's off putting.

Great video. Blasphemous is an excellent game, but even better is its lore. As a Catholic myself, it is easy to see the influences present. Original sin, penance, seeking communion. I felt it is a game rooted in respect for my religion, not a mockery of it, and handles the concepts in an interesting way. God willing, I will get to play future games from this talented development studio.

@@TheLorebrarians That would be awesome. Would definitely be interested in seeing videos about specific characters (as always haha). My absolute favorite lore channel.
I fundamentally disagree with your characterization of the High Wills as parasitic. They don't have a choice in what they are and what they do. They were formed by the miracle and must be what they were ordained to be. They do not have free will. They did not choose this position. They are what their worshipers forced them to be.
There is an entirely different context when you refer to a seemingly thinking, conscious person a parasite. The Wills were not feeding. They were being fed. They were a fictional character brought to life by the collective unconsciousness of a human culture. It receives worship because it was imagined to receive worship. It is just an idea. A self-reinforcing behavior. It wouldn't exist if not for people. It wouldn't act if not for people. It only has enough free will to understand that it does not have a choice in what it is.
A fair point, but I think one that denies them agency they definitely demonstrate. They may have been created by the thoughts of worship and force of the Miracle, but my interpretation is that they took intentional action to gain greater power and "reach higher" by manipulating the Miracle, manifesting it in Cvstodia, and drawing on the energy of the eternal procession. To me, "being fed" is more passive than the High Wills deserve and if not in a parasitic sense they were actively feeding after the Miracle was introduced to the living world. At least those are my thoughts, but part of this game's beauty is it's open to discussion
The fact that they are eternally shedding tears of molten gold implied to me that they don't really have a choice in the whole arrangement but fair enough.
An interesting thought experiment. I feel like Cvstodia on a whole would be strong in both white and black mana; a world steeped in faith and religion yet consumed by death and plague
Sabia que ibas a hacer este video tarde o temprano. But seriously it's so weird hearing the characters speak in English after getting so used to the game in its native tongue.
Appreciate it! since I cater to a mostly English-speaking audience and incorporate dialogue into my content to help make points it's simpler to use English dubs. As for the Wills pre-dating the miracle I think Blasphemous is open to many interpretations. Mine is that the Miracle as a force existed before the Wills, but they manifested it within cvstodia. There are definitely contradictions and we also can't take the Wills at their word since they're known deceivers. Twisted are the ways of the Miracle!
I liked the game until I realized HOW MUCH backtracking u need to do to finish most of the quests. And u will be forced to backtrack each time u get a new movement ability. Can’t escape the feeling that developers were so fond of the game art style that they made you to go through all old boring areas multiple times just to Make Sure U appreciate their work. By the middle of the game it gets easy and boring. By the end felt like a job. They say it’s Soul-like. I say it’s Soulless.
This style of game is called a metroidvania. It's a game in which you return to old areas with new abilities ro unlock new areas. It just seems it's not your type of game. This game was popularized by Metroid (Samus from Smash bros if you didn't know) and Castlevania
@ I played this style of games before. Just here the implementation is f king boring. The world is not fun to play through multiple times. They should have sticked to different genre. Teleporting is the main issue: game doesn’t bother even hint u that paying 20k gold unlocks shrine-teleportation. This is just frustrating. If u want to make player to re-track SO-many times, just make it by default. But even with unlocked teleport: coming back to old areas feels downright boring. I finished the game with 95% of map, and just could not bother to do the rest. Then went to torment mode…… it’s all the same shit all over again. No new mobs, not even increase in their quantity. It feels lazy. If they wanted to increase re-playability they should have learn thing or two from Dead Cells. Dead Cells got incredible system with Boss Cells which significantly alters the game each time u beat it, making u to play it more and more. Once again: Blasphemous - great style, fun to play when u just explore, but very boring when it comes to all the side quests. Would not call it difficult, just mehh.
What fictional world do you want to explore in the next Story Explained?
The remedy universe. All of it
-metal gear series especially - metal gear solid 3 remake (coming soon) or 5 phantom pain
-Silent Hill 2 remake
Resident Evil or Assassins Creed
The Darksiders games have some interesting lore.

Does a lack of choice stop a parasite from parasitism?

The backtracking upon new skills is what makes this game a metroidvania. Maybe it turns out you just don't like that genre of games.

Game is offensive and a mockery of the Bible. So much so I cannot finish this one.
It uses elements from the bible and Spanish Catholicism. A bit difficult to mock something that openly owns what it is.
Great, less bigots like you will plague the community then
Literally doesn’t mention god or Jesus or the spirit or the cross or anything once and openly says Spanish Catholicism was its inspiration
