I will most likely be picking up a 2022 Rally w/4k on it, b/c it already has the both upper / lower crash bars and side pannier racks. The 7k price difference between it and the new 24 is a big deal for me, since I'm coming from a KLR650 (which was a great bike). As long as I can switch off Traction Control, I'm good. Good Review!
It’s a great bike. Probably my favorite I have owned. Gotta go through the menu to turn off tc, but it remembers the setting as far as I can tell, so I have tc off in off-road mode most of the time now a days
Great review, I was looking at a new 23 Tiger 850 Sport and ended up deal on with a leftover 22 GT Pro. I spent about $3000 more, but I have absolutely no regrets. The extra features have been worth more than the premium. Heck, the heated grips have been worth the extra alone. And even though I do prefer the looks of the Rally, the GT is by far a better fit for my riding.
Nice review. Thought about buying one but unfortunately motorcycles are not that cheap where I live. A new Tiger 900 Rally Pro is above 20k USD. You pay around 13k USD for a 4 year old model with 15k miles. I would get a brand new V-Strom 800 DE for that. Oh and I would love to see time stamps in your video :)
That 800 is a nice bike. I love the tiger, but I don’t think I would have gotten it if I hadn’t gotten a little discount on account that it was a demo fleet bike.
Also, I try and timestamp videos as often as I remember, though I tend to not remember until like a week or two later, but I am trying to get better about it
So glad you put out this video! I’ve got 5k on my GT Pro and I love it but I think I want to trade it in for the rally eventually. Glad to hear the reliability at this amount of mileage isn’t an issue. As a Yamaha fanatic, that was a concern for me.

Awesome video. I just got my 20k service done today. I've added the quick shifter and the connectivity module and those engine guard, etc. The only thing am missing now are those 2 additional modes 😀
My 2020 900 Rally Pro is leaving my stable at the end of this week, after 4 seasons and 20k of riding (mostly on the road, unfortunately). Two sets of tires, and numerous oil changes. It's been a great bike, no issues, no problems. I did have to upgrade my seat to the Sargent (its a bit wider and more comfortable). It is being replaced by a 2023 Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer. Hopefully once I wrangle the weight, I'll take it off-road a bit.
Great video, thanks. 1 tip - for the seat get one of this 3D mesh covers. It is a game changer for any biker on any bike, especially in hot climate. It is very cheap and adds a lot of comfort - your butt never touches the seat, so you have airflow there , meaning you will not sweat. Also, it is making the seat more comfortable, many hours day of riding will not be a problem at all. I have a Rally Pro version, I would not change it for anything else as for now.
To keep it electrically reliable a heavier earth cable and good earth connection to stator and rest of bike will help a lot. Those 800 tigers seem very durable, Alan Sanders took one round the world doing well over 50000 miles on african roads, desert with rough terrain and it stood up. Thats a great ad for it and theyre now been out for years. Yes the crash bar bolting into engine case is bad however but taking care is the main thing.
Great triple motors even old triumphs. A great, durable, well designed workhorse in the real world. Maybe a few electrical charging system gremlins and sprag clutch is now reliable unlike some 1990s triumph 900 motors. I luv the torque and handling. Lovely to ride. The 675 daytona and 1700 thunderbird is my dream.

solid review. i went from a bandit 1250 to an Vstrom 650 to get a shorter, lighter bike. Thinking about going down to a versys 300, but i think I'd have to rail it too much on the highway. 20k miles in a year is solid. great work.
Biggest complaint about my '23 900 Rally Pro is the damn radiator exhaust placement. Cooks my legs in the summer (glad I'm not in TX anymore). I communte about an hour everyday for work and haven't had any issues but I don't deal with stop and go traffic (for reference I'm 5'11" with a 33" inseam). How are the Trailmax Missions for commuting and pavement twisties? I still like to take my bike up into the rockies with some friends on FZ-07s, so no off road for me on those trips.
yea, the radiator fans in stop and go ( at least here in atlanta ) are friggin toasty, The trailmax missions are great. they behave much better on pavement than the stock tires, and they get HELLA mileage. i think i got about 15k on the last set and still had some life left in them.

in a pinch, i have, but i dont do that often. its not super easy being that i am short, i dont get much leverage on it. plus it weighs around 550+ with all my gear on it, so i would rather be safe than sorry, and not risk (even low) damaging anything to do with the kickstand.

What tire pressure do you run for off road? I have a 900 rp for a few months and I'm new to off roading so idk what should be a good tire pressure, and the warning that I get from the bike is buggin me every time that I deflate a few psi
i honestly never change it from stock pressures. airing down for offroad traction is a myth that has long been busted. there might be other reasons to air down, but the use case for most riders is going to be so low, that its honestly not worth the hassle.
when the bike would not start (throttle body sen), did you have to get trucked? or did you get it to start? looking at the new tiger, sat on it last night, seems thinner and lighter, good for us shorties, but worried about being stranded due to reliability
had to get it trucked. i think mine was a fluke (I bought mine from the triumph demo fleet) and I haven't treated her too well, several downs on it. i haven't read online anyone else having the issue. and after getting it resolved, she has been solid. also, that is the only problem I have had with it, so I would say you're good!
Nice! Hard to find "do it all" bikes for the big three items you listed of commuting, touring, and off road, as there are compromises here and there on all bikes, but ADVs are the best bet for it. I’ve got a Tiger 900 rally. Most of your video I agree with but I disagree with the rally pro being a better buy. I’ve flogged mine through the bush heaps and the off road mode is absolutely fine. No need for any other off road modes. Also, the other features that come with the pro are crap and not worth it. The bash plate, engine guard and riding lights are rubbish and you’ll want to replace them. I ride in cold conditions and have never needed a heated seat. I purposely bought the rally and put after market bash plate, guard and lights on it and it was still cheaper than the pro. I’ve ridden a lot of bikes over a lot of years in heaps of tough conditions. I think the rally is an awesome bike and a smarter buy than the pro.
I agree, but with one caveat. While i can turn off the traction control, it takes a lot more time than i would like. being able to set it to off-road pro, or even set a custom mode would be really helpful, at least for the type of riding i do (a lot of soft clay and water crossings) I rode the Rally pro for 4 days in south dakota, and it just felt more alive out there because i was able to dial everything almost off. Im not upset by m purchase, as i agree with the other extras are not needed, i am more just bummed that triumph pay walls the good stuff.

Yep your short & got the low seat - which obviously has less padding and bingo - less comfort - there's a Norwegian chick - has a utoob channel - 5'5" has the same bike and got rid of the low seat and went to normal and manages to handle it. One foot on one side and hops on and off via the footpeg and jumps up or off. NEXT - should have went with PRO if you off road as it has OFF ROAD PRO setting - ALL traction control OFF. NEXT if you use it on the road - commuting or long distance dial the suspension in - FRONT and BACK as it makes a big difference !
Yea. Dialing in the suspension has made the biggest difference in how it rides. Like I said, it is criminal that there is no upgrade path for the rally to have off road pro

I’m torn between the 900 and 1200 GT. I’m a big guy at 6’4 270lbs and my only concern on the 900 is how good it can accelerate to HWY speeds.
900 has absolutely no problem getting to speed. The 1200 is really nice and has a much better seat.
I’m 220 and it’ll sit at 80 all day over western mtn passes loaded with gear.

Have you tried to pivot the bike on the side stand and turn it 180o?

Mine works just fine. If you open up the back and pull the plastic out, you can check the connectors and word for it there
