      Gotta take risks in life! Or I'll be stuck working a 9 to 5 job and I don't want that :)
      More importantly I do love working on cars!

    Wasn’t finding a other body, not a cheaper route to take? I applaud you for everything you are doing. Looking forward to the next video.

      I did try to look for another chassis to use but couldn't find anything in a timely matter. It would 100% be more time and money efficient to do so! On that note I wouldn't change the route that I am for much as I am learning a lot that will help out in the future! Learning unibody chassis repair and I'm going to learn to paint and body work on this bad boy! So a lot of experience here in this GR Supra! But I probably won't do something this crazy again at least for awhile lol

    If I ever do anything like this level. Imma keep every little piece even the dust from the grinding😂
    It's just that, I will be scared to accidentally throw away a small piece that are unobtainable.
    Well, that explains why my garage is full of stuff that I probably doesn't need it anymore. Wife constantly mad at me too😂

    • @ShawnzeyRacing
      @ShawnzeyRacing  2 місяці тому +1

      Yea I try pretty hard to throw away pieces as soon as I'm sure I don't need them anymore lol

    As someone who does a lot of electrical work on cars you have made my more comfortable with mechanical, if you can do this i can do a glow plug module behind a intake.

    • @ShawnzeyRacing
      @ShawnzeyRacing  4 місяці тому

      Honestly after experiencing how easy it is to work on cars with the engine out i may just always pull them lol
      But go get that module done! Ezpz 😎

    One way of getting a new car. I don't want to spoil anything but the four axle stands don't look that steady and what about a jig to put the frame back exactly were it should be..

    • @ShawnzeyRacing
      @ShawnzeyRacing  4 місяці тому

      The jack stands are definitely a bit wobbly! A jig would be a fantastic idea but I don't think its super necessary since the front frame is already preassembled by Toyota/BMW. I have measurements of where certain bolt holes should be in relation to one another so as long as I get those in place everything should be good to go!

    This would've made a cheap drift supra project, but fair play for going to full distance to restore it

    • @ShawnzeyRacing
      @ShawnzeyRacing  4 місяці тому +2

      Not a bad idea. Unfortunately not much drifting close by to me. Really only have a drag strip around my area. But 100% next time I buy a vehicle this damage it will not be going back together with stock frame parts! I want to try my hand at some tube chassis work lol

    Are you Mag welding or Mig welding? Have you checked out what parts are HSS and mild steel? Are you using a spot welder to reproduce the factory finish?

    • @ShawnzeyRacing
      @ShawnzeyRacing  4 місяці тому

      Mig welding with 25% CO2. I am going to be plug welding.
      BMWs repair instructions state that if your plug welding to space out the welds 25mm apart since I can't use panel bond when plug welding.
      So that is my current plan :)

  • @spoons6728
    @spoons6728 4 місяці тому

    I would've cut through both metal parts sides of the side window and through the door aperture diagonally above the rocker. Less damage to the rest of the car and less work and welding. 👍🏻

    • @ShawnzeyRacing
      @ShawnzeyRacing  4 місяці тому

      It's gonna be a lot of plug welding but I'm very happy I didn't cut the inner uniside with my angle grinder. Only damage to the inner uniside would've come from the file belt grinding the spot welds.

    damn look amazing but i wonder about sturdiness of chasis... when it see another crash, wouldnt the damage be worse?

    • @ShawnzeyRacing
      @ShawnzeyRacing  4 місяці тому

      I'm repairing the chassis with factory frame pieces so as long as I follow the frame repair instructions that BMW has written we should be good to go!

    Why do you cut the hole side of? We always splice the section in that is destroyed. Much faster and the rest stays original. But OK. (You could install a carbon roof at that point.)

    • @ShawnzeyRacing
      @ShawnzeyRacing  4 місяці тому

      carbon roof is a pretty cool idea! The quarter was damaged, the portion by the roof was damaged, and there were 2 spots around the door damaged. so really the only good portion was around the taillight. I was originally going to replace the back half, but i found more damage by the door leading me to say f it and do the whole thing.
