Them yamaha amps are great they sound killer I have one
I've recently got rhe MXR Bass DI and I really like it because like you said it sounds natural and beefy, I've had a Sans Amp VT pedal which was pretty cool because it was very Ampeg SVT-ish but i sold it because I got a Sans Amp RBI rack mount but I didn't like ot after all because it was too trebly. I gave it to my church because my son is the guitarist and they needed a better bass sound because they were straight direct. I found a Hartke Bass Attack 2 for $50 which wasn't bad but it was kinda synthetic sounding and then got the MXR and bingo. I was running all of those pedals through my Hartke LH 500 head which is pretty neutral but it's 500 watts and has a tube preamp so it's a good pedal head, well i recently traded a G&L Legacy i wasn't very fond of for a Gallien-Krueger RB700 head and now my tone is even better. Now for basses I have a Fender MIM P-Bass all stock, Squire Classic Vibe Jazz loaded with Seymour Duncan Quarter pounders and then I recently got a good deal on a Squire Vintage Modified PJ bass and man the stock pick ups actually sound pretty good, I upgraded thw tone pots and it made the sound more clear and a tad brighter, next is a Sterling Stingray on the "to get" list 👍.
I'm not dissing you but ditch the lip rings they look so bad.
