Somewhat misleading. Women may not be criminalized/penalized for abortions but the 13 states that have banned abortions penalize the provider that facilitates the abortion. So if you are encouraging pregnant women to get medical care, where are you going to find doctors in these states that want to risk their medical license, potential jail time, or fines (specific to Texas)?
I believe they are covered by EMTALA-the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act. Under EMTALA, hospitals are required to provide emergency care to stabilize patients regardless of their ability to pay or other factors, and this includes pregnant women facing life-threatening conditions. So, if a woman has a pregnancy complication that poses a serious risk to her health, hospital are required to perform an abortion or other life-saving treatment under federal law. Including banned abortion state like Texas since EMTALA is a federal law
@@lavarball1237 Yes, it should be. EMTALA could not be used as justification in this case because she too early in pregnancy for it to be medically affecting her. She would have had to wait until she was further along & it began affecting her organ systems. This just doesn't make sense to me. No ob/gyn in the above scenario should be fearful about losing their license, fines or jail time for making a decision that was best for the patient.

I have a degree in psychology and these questions are carefully worded and purposely misleading. Q1: It's not the women who face prosecution, it's the doctors who perform it and can lose their license. Q2: Criminalizing miscarriage? We're talking about criminalizing abortions. Q3: Again, question should be about abortions, not miscarriages. Q4: Ectopic pregnancy means the fertilized egg has a 0% chance of survival and must be removed. Q5: This question is implied to be about abortion, but not specifically stated. Q6: Same answer to Q5. Q7: Again, it's not about miscarriages, it's about abortions. An abortion is usually a choice, while a miscarriage means the fetus is already dead. Please learn the difference between miscarriage and abortion.
You have answered his questions accurately, but you missed the point of his asking the questions. "News" has been spread and people are believing that woman can be prosecuted, and that miscarriages and the removal of ectopic pregnancies are abortions. His questions and their answers are addressing this misinformation.
There's more nuance to it than that. Simplistic dualities of abortion and miscarriage don't work because the laws don't often differentiate enough to have clear interpretations when applied to real world scenarios. You're right though, they've colluded to make these questions and answers as carefully misleading as possible. Women have faced and continue to face prosecution for abortion from zealous prosecutors who are testing the limits of these laws such as in the case of Lizelle Herrera who was arrested and charged with murder for self-inducing an abortion in Texas. Women face prosecution for miscarriages because they're being arrested for "mishandling" of the fetal tissue as in the case of Brittany Watts. Again, her answer might be technically correct, but it's intentionally leaving out that they're being prosecuted for other subsections of the same law. On lifesaving care, no the law often doesn't say that it prohibits lifesaving care of the mother, but it does stipulate it being a felony for anyone involved with providing abortion related services if the women isn't at risk of death for which there's no clear standard or definition. It's medical insanity asking the doctors to contrive on the spot what they each individually think they could defend to a judge or jury for each case. What happens when they guess wrong? It kills women like Amber Thurman and Neveah Crain.
This hearing was incredibly misleading. The specific details and impacts of abortion laws vary by state. Some states maintain exceptions for medical emergencies, but healthcare providers have reported challenges in determining exactly when these exceptions apply. Other states have more restrictive laws with limited or no explicit exceptions for medical emergencies.Yes, some states DO have laws that could potentially lead to criminal penalties for those involved in abortions, though the scope and enforcement varies. Historically most prosecutorial focus has been on providers rather than patients. Some states like Texas and Oklahoma implemented systems that allow private citizens to sue anyone who helps someone obtain an abortion. If you listen to the phrasing of his questions, he's not asking the questions that paint a true picture of the landscape of this issue in the United States.
He is not talking about an "Abortion" in the normal tense, he is talking specifically about false information being thrown around social media about ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages and mothers with life threatening medical issues. These spacific issues have been thrown around the internet as no longer available because of "abortion laws" and women think they will now DIE because they are being told they can't get medical treatment and that is 100% false information. .
@@ericaroysterYou missed an important part of the conversation there, as the commenter above you very much brought *providers* into the discussion. Not sure what point you are trying to make. Define "Extremely Common"? It's 1-2% of all pregnancies. That's more common than death by Covid and yet we Destroyed the Lives of Millions out of an abundance of caution. Ectopic Pregnancies are certainly concerning for the 1-2% of women who experience them, and they point here is that they are NOT being denied healthcare as the Democrat Party would have you think.

The case of Mylissa Farmer, a Missouri woman, is one example. Last August, her water broke less than 18 weeks into her pregnancy, when her fetus was not viable. She was at risk for developing a life-threatening infection if she continued the pregnancy. Yet during three separate visits to emergency rooms, she was denied abortion care because her fetus still had a heartbeat. Doctors specifically cited the state’s new abortion law in her medical records and said they could not intervene until her condition worsened. She eventually traveled to Illinois for care. The answers are no because nobody's going to check the box yes due to criminalization of the abortion band in the states that banned abortion go ahead keep pretending. By the way that's only his questioning. Not the entire hearing
Wasn't the pro-abortion/choice argument that if the woman got a chemical abortion but then needed life-saving care, she wouldn't be eligible for emergency care?
Who is this woman? This is incorrect as of today. This video was posted in September and 41 states have a near total abortion ban and it is criminal in some.

Please cite your sources you claim to have. The onus is on you to back your statement, so please don’t reply back with “do your own research… I’m not going to research for you.. etc” thank you 🙏🏼
The point being if you hear these cases, you need to actually look into it.. there is the case in Texas where the mother died and the doctors claimed they faced prosecution if they helped. Turns out the doctors used that as an escape goat because they misdiagnosed her not once, but twice and that led to her death. Cite the sources and I will look into it if you want. When they want you to believe something, they will lie and mislead you to believe what they want you to believe. There is a reason police brutality and race were massive right before 2020 elections and then we go 4 years with practically no talk on the issue, because the party in control has the mainstream media and refuses to let you believe it's a problem, but in 2020 made you feel like you would die as a black American to the next cop you see if you dont go vote. Did they come in office and solve the problem with no policy changes over night? All cops just magically got 75% better in 30 days? Do the hard research yourself and it will shock you how much each party BLATANTLY lies to your face and you were brainwashed for years. You seem to have this issue and that's okay, that's 90% of americans
I know two women personally where the fetal tissue didn’t pass. This is important information regardless if you are pro choice or pro life. Thank you 👏🏼🤍
@@JenniferLeandro-g2i The medical care they would receive is an abortion (suction D&C). Prior to the ban they were able to always get it. Post the ban however it’s not possible. States such as Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia require the patient to be in active danger for the procedure to happen. This makes it a timing issue. We have to wait for the patient to be in active danger as deemed appropriate before proceeding with the procedure. Otherwise medical practitioners risk their licenses. This is why there is a decrease in the number of doctors being trained in states with abortion bans. This has led to a Ob/Gyn desert. Over 35% of counties are considered maternity care deserts in middle America. This hearing is nowhere close to presenting a comprehensive or accurate picture of what’s actually happening.
Thank You.

These spacific issues have been thrown around the internet as no longer available because of "abortion laws" and women think they will now DIE because they are being told they can't get medical treatment and that is 100% false information. .
The questions sound pretty clear to me. "Are there ANY states..."
@@ericaroysterYou missed an important part of the conversation there, as the commenter above you very much brought *providers* into the discussion. The criminalization of providers is the thing called out by media so much, and his questions are specificied to women, not providers. That's somewhat disingenuous and very much feels like someone angling for better media sound bites. Quite frankly I can't find a speech quote where Kamala says what he says she did. She did some fear mongereing based on Project 2025, but I can't find a quote where she's making the drastic claim she's being accused of in this clip. Going to keep looking, but yeah... definitely seems like bro is talking out his ass a bit.
What an idiot, he literally asked her are there any states who does these things

We have to stop partial birth abortion.
So so many couples would adopt those babies….
Why not adopt one of the thousands of kids already up for adoption now?
@@melindaelliott2629Have you tried? Almost impossible. The whole foster and adoption system needs a overhaul.
@@melindaelliott2629 My cousin and her husband went thru all the classes for fostering to adoption and they couldn't get approved bcuz of medical issues. Not ones that prevent from being able to parent. They gave very strict rules to even be considered. I take a medication for migraine management at Bedtime. Amitrptyline. It'd actually an antidepressant used for Migraine management. Doesn't matter why.. because it's an antidepressant medication..I don't qualify to foster or adopt. If you've ever been on antidepressants... disqualified.
As for Newborn babies thou. Private adoption stops all those rules. The waiting list to adopt newborns is long so many can find adoptive parents before the child is even born & make it a private adoption.
Who is Ms. Hacker? Genuinely trying to figure out what authority she has on the subject.
She's a pro-life lawyer for the state of Texas, her clients are the state of Texas and various state leadership. If it's not clear, you might say she gets paid to prosecute defendants in abortion cases. This whole interaction seems highly suspicious.
@ Thank you, I saw that after looking into it a bit more. It appears she is testifying alongside the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Suspicious indeed. It’s unfortunate that people who want to know the facts must spend time digging for them, while most don’t, as the information simply feeds their rhetoric. And so, the cycle of misinformation continues, fueling ignorance.
@@tofuriot1942
You suspect that she's lying under oath so she can have more people to prosecute?
Lying under oath would cost her job. Are the media pundits under oath? If they told the truth, would it cost them their job? To me THEY seem highly suspicious.

One of the women says that ectopic pregnancy is extremely common. It isn’t.
Who are all these women?

TRUMP SAID WOMEN NÈED TO HAVE SOME FORM OF PUNISHMENT ON VIDEO ON YOU TUBE. WHEN ABORTION IS BANNED, WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN TO WOMEN WHO IGNORE THAT LAW?
Are there more videos similar to this? I’m trying to find more info that proves no US Citizens rights are being stolen
Her “no” answers are misleading. While no one has been charged for miscarriages distinctively, they have been charged and prosecuted for “child endangerment” “homocide” “child neglect” and “abuse of a corpse”. In most of the 200+ cases the prosecution used “fetal personhood” as the argument.
And if you don’t think these prosecutions and the criminalization of women’s reproductive rights will expand under the coming administration, I have a bridge to sell you.

Uhm, if her water broke, she was going to give birth soon, so did she not wait the appropriate time in those 3 separate visits?
Wasn't the pro-abortion/choice argument that if the woman got a chemical abortion but then needed life-saving care, she wouldn't be eligible for emergency care?
Who is this woman? This is incorrect as of today. This video was posted in September and 41 states have a near total abortion ban and it is criminal in some.

I’d like to know how one lawyer can speak for a country facing these issues. There are many documented cases of this happening already so how is that rhetoric?
@@wolfgineer9340exactly!
Could you please provide a reference for your statement? It would be beneficial to have evidence to support the claims being made.
Can you point to an instance-where it’s this and not just malpractice?
I know two women personally where the fetal tissue didn’t pass. This is important information regardless if you are pro choice or pro life. Thank you 👏🏼🤍
I'm sure it does happen
They can get medical care for that
They've always been able to
You were lied to that they couldn't
Politics is a game of rhetoric, vocabulary, and art of lying just a bit to the point where it’s not completely true, but it’s true “enough”.
You don’t have to believe me, but here are sources you can check out.
