WW2 Liberator FP 45 Pistol | Walk-in Wednesday

- In this episode, Tom shows us two Liberator Pistols - a very crudely made gun that the Office of Strategic Services secretly commissioned during WW2. One is authentic and one is a high-quality reproduction made by Vintage Ordinance Co. Apparently, they dropped these guns behind enemy lines in Axis occupied countries so that the locals could liberate themselves. The idea was that they could get 5-8 very short range shots off at a guard or a soldier, take his weapon, and resist the occupation. Check it out!
Also, we got a shooting clip from our friend Ian at InRangeTv. Check them out. Link below:

Thanks for the great videos! Super cool history lesson. And the Working Americans of that generation were amazing!
Also distribided in Belgium. We have one in our museum. It was one of the guns used by the local resistance.
Thanks for watching from Belgium. And thanks for your confirmation that these were distributed. We are gaining a lot of new European viewers and love to hear your perspectives.
Message from Europe ... keeping up the good work !
It was said to me our liberator is in 9mm Luger so ammo won't be a problem. I'm going to give it a closer look, and try to find out more. "To be continued".
It took some time but thats Covid's fault... . So "our" Liberator is in good working condition with a beautiful "patine". No, I will NOT test this weapon. It's not 9mm Luger as was told to me but 45 cal smoothbore. It has been proofmarked in Belgium and has a 4 digit serial number. The bottom plate is missing. Box and guidelines are also missing.
I saw an original one years ago. The owner had the gun with the cartoon drawing instructions and cardboard box it came with. It was very crude but cool at the same time.
A Single-Shot-Pistol is used to get a Better Weapon from the enemy.

- A guy test the gun...
Gun testing the gun, just GUN JESUS!!!!!
Respect Gun Jesus!!!
This is the perfect example. The price of WW2 memorabilia is just nuts. I enjoy the artifacts but I can't see the price.
Can you review the history of the SS gun belt buckle or the cyanide capsule ???? Dragon man has them both ??
Sure, but need to FIND one first. Looking !!
Mel Bernstein, the dragon man from Colorado Springs has a few of these on display in his military museum
One shot ,one Kill effective way to Operate in Enemy territory ,shoot one sentry ,get his weapons or a Police Officer expecting unarmed civilian? Horrible weapon good calibur!
Wish they remade this in .22lr , Just for the fun fun fun of it :) I would buy !
it's my choice for ccw
I can respect that.
Two thousand to 4 thousand dollars each today .My attic has over 8000 of these things , discovered them when ibought a job lot of them at a warehouse sale , 500 dollars or 450 cash .Only kidding i am sorry to say .
Cool, interesting, and kind of amazing they didn’t give them out to rebellion groups more. That said, I’d be able to do without one at that kind of money.
I came over from forgotten weapons and I'm glad I did
Thanks for checking us out. We don't have over 2000 videos like Ian, but we are growing !!
@@thomaswhiteman4261 I'm glad I did! Just happy to see things that are really interesting
Ian is a great presenter!
I would rather make my own than shoot that 45 caliber weapon, When I was a kid , Zip guns were popular in 22 gouge.
If it was 2 bucks today. It would make a great back up gun. All the gangs in Chicago would have them.
They were built in Anderson Indiana guide lamp is no longer there it is a milk factory I believe and it took like 7 Seconds to make one of them and if you're not Point Blank you probably won't hit anything.
I remember seeing one of these in the imperial war museum in London many years ago
I have only recently discovered your channel I really enjoy your videos thank you.
Once you put a bullet in it, is it cocked? How can you sell one if it has no serial number? I was hoping you would make a video on this one.
While in the Philippines I saw similar guns that were home made. I remember them calling a paltek or something like that. They were Illegal I was told.
War movies? M3A1 Grease Guns were still in widespread service when I was in the Army in the mid 80's.
As I understand resestence groups were disarmed as we took back territory
That’s not True
Very good job sir.
Thanks. Appreciate the support.
I absolutely love your subtle humor.
Good job and great info!
I have two of those where can i sell them?
Send them to us. Info@legacy-collectibles.com
Always wanted a Liberator but alas, I am poor.
Very interesting handgun an thanks for the history lesson !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw one at the local gun show, back in 2004. The guy selling it said he worked at the factory. Came with pistol, box, instructions, wood rod, a bag of ammo, an employee photo of himself and his friends, old timecard, and a handwritten letter from him.
I wish I had the $2,000 back then.
I have seen a double barrel one go at an auction for crazy money years ago-I know a big collection that has hit the market in the last few years.
I saw that double barrel as well. And bought a couple out of that large collection. Whenever I have one of these guns they don't last long on my website.
My understanding is that the reproductions have rifled barrels...
Very faint but yes. I took a look and the repro is slightly rifled.
....it had to be rifled...smooth bored pistols would be an SBS - short barreled shotgun - and subject to the NFA (and a $@00 tax stamp for transfer...)
@@mohammedcohen So, my black powder pistol is really a shotgun? Note: Because this is a pistol, it would never be considered a short barrel shotgun. Because it does not fire a shotgun shell, it is not considered an AOW either. That said, I am not BATF, merely a collector with a FFL_03 license, and if you have ANY concerns regarding the law and firearms, you should contact them. before making ANY purchase.
It looks like it might be potentially as dangerous to the user as to the target?
Exactly :)
Fueling algor.
$2-4000 for that piece of cheap shit, some people have more money than brains. For that much , I settle for a nice Lugar or a Broomhandle Red 9 complete with wooden holster. This is the only gun the US made that decended to the British low in quality, and I am talking about the Sten.
Just so cool,
Looks like a potato gun👍
