    !!! ATTENTION: I graduated from Drexel in March of 2022. I absolutely hated my time at this university due to a variety of reasons (that I formally made the university aware of, yet they took no action). It is my opinion that you choose a different university to attend, especially if you are considering attending Westphal (the college of media, arts, and design). Save yourself the time, money, and headache.
    In addition to that, I REFUSE to give Drexel any more of my time, so I will no longer be responding to ANY comments on this video. As I no longer attend this university so things might’ve changed from when I was admitted. This is a great video to see the layout of the dorms and to make an informed decision about on campus living.
    For legal reasons all of this is my own opinion and as always you are free to make whatever choices your heart desires. If it’s Drexel… I wish you the best of luck. You’ll need it.
    *Please direct all of your questions to the staff at the university as they are better suited to give you the proper information. Their emails and phone numbers are on their website. Because again, I would just tell you to make a different choice in regard to making a college decision. Or to just not go to college at all because in my opinion it is a complete and utter waste. Especially since the education you receive isn’t worth the cost of admittance. Again: all my own opinion.* !!!

And I had one in Van R. but she was busy during finals week. Anyways, thank you again for the support☺️

      Mike funblade no problem! Good luck. The dorms in Myers do NOT have lights, besides the ones attached to the top inside of the desk. The light switches control the outlets in the room, so if you have an alarm plugged in and the switch is off... good luck😂 so be sure to bring a lamp or something when you go to live there. Also bring the power outlet things that give you more outlets (I don’t know what those are called... surge protector..?) Also, good luck with your course of study!

      I’m glad you thought this video was helpful! Please be sure to share this with any other incoming students! As for tips... I pretty much cover all of the necessary information throughout the video. I would recommend however, to take advantage of Welcome Week. Everyone you will meet will be new to Drexel as well and it is a great opportunity to meet and make new friends! I had a few different groups of friends because of Welcome Week. Some of the activities are actually fun and thoughtful too. Attend as many as you can, (sign up for them in advance) but only attend those that you are interested in, since you’ll meet likeminded individuals. Even if you don’t sign up for them in advance, you can still attend. It’s just so Drexel has a RSVP of who is coming so they can plan accordingly. Hope that helps!☺️

      Tasfia Sarah I’m sorry it wasn’t covered in this video. As stated in the video and in the description, my contacts for Millennium Hall and Van R fell though. In order to enter any of the dorms and get past the security at the gates you need to be signed in by a resident. The resident I knew will not be in that building come this upcoming year, so it will not be possible for me to enter the building without someone else. Sorry for that inconvenience, I hope you liked the rest of the video though, if you watched it.☺️

    Thanks for this video it was really helpful! I got accepted into Drexel and it’s my first choice! It’s a little expensive but not impossible for my family to afford. I’m a psychology major doing the 3 co op plan. I was wondering if you were doing co op and if you had anything to say about it. Also if you have any tips to make the school a little cheaper (like if becoming an RA is a good idea or buying a printer for your dorm since I heard you have to pay to print in the library) that would be great! Thank you!

    • @itsDus10
      @itsDus10  4 роки тому

      Being an Interior Design major, we only get one Co-Op. Which is in our Junior or Pre-Junior year (depending on those doing the 4 year regular BS degree, or the 5 year for Masters degree. My Co-Op is Fall/Winter of 2020. Which I am unsure on how that will work with everything going on right now (COVID-19). Plus, Drexel does not really help with that. They give you a 'course' but in reality you have to do everything yourself. Drexel (in my honest opinion) is a joke. We spend all of this money to go here yet they do not do shit for us. Especially now that classes are moved online for the rest of this school year. (Since we have school all year round (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer) after Freshman year) So.....
      If you can handle the juggling of RA + all of your course work, then go for it. Again, Westphal students do NOT get any free time whatsoever, so for any of us to be an RA, would be really difficult, though some people do it. You'd have to schedule floor activities and all of that stuff on top of everything you'd have to do. Plus live with freshman in these crappy dorms. So, it'd just be awkward to have any... guests.. over, if you catch my meaning.
      My freshman year, printing was free. Now they changed it to $0.05 per B&W page on normal paper. Then the prices just go up and up. Some prints cost us $20 for one page. So... it's up to you. Again, Drexel is a joke, since where is all of our money going since its obviously not going into the things we actually need or would expect to be included in our astronomically high tuition.

    Thank you for sharing these with us! How did things turn out with you? If you owe 27k per year, how long is it going to take you to pay back for the student loan? I got admitted as a transfer student too, but I don’t dare to click commit until I actually know the cost of attendance. With pell grant scholarship and everything, the most they could offer is 34k. I major in Design as well, and is only the Co-op program and the city that drawn me into it. But as a transfer student, they do not tell whether they accept your credits until you are committed. So you might have to start again from the first year or take extra classes, which result in more years and pay more. So would you recommend to get in Drexel or start with community college and transfer to a more affordable public university? (Ps I took A level in other country, trying to use the credits)

      In full honesty and transparency, I did not enjoy my time at Drexel. Without getting too much in depth with my experience, I will say that I did file a complaint with the Pennsylvania Department of Education who are reviewing and investigating the matter. I can also say that a lot of us felt cheated by the university, to the point that was even a line spoken during Westphal’s commencement ceremony. My 100% honest advice AND COMPLETE OPINION would be to choose any other college besides Drexel as other universities have far more to offer in terms of educational experience/knowledge for the cost of university. I am sure that other programs at Drexel could be amazing, but if you go to Westphal for design (from my experience) you’ll be doing a lot of preschool style arts and crafts for the cost of a college tuition. And I didn’t even get into personal life when enrolled at the college. In my opinion based on my personal experience, you’d be dodging numerous (figurative and sometimes actual) bullets by selecting a different university (or just no university at all). At the end of the day, it’s all for a piece of paper that means the same thing no matter what university you choose. For legal reasons, I CANNOT STATE THIS ENOUGH, THIS IS ALL MY PERSONAL OPINION BASED ON MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AT THIS UNIVERSITY. I am in no way trying to influence your decisions, I am just stating my personal opinions and experiences.

    • @itsDus10
      @itsDus10  4 роки тому

      I dont know what WPI is. But I can tell you from experience, Drexel tends to f it’s students over every chance it gets for an outrageous price as well. So.... there’s that. But due to all the bs Drexel puts its students through, most employers tend to hire Drexel students since we’ve already been put through hell, so working for an actual company after graduation will be a cake walk.

    how do you feel about drexel? overall do you regret your college decision? is it worth the money?

    • @itsDus10
      @itsDus10  4 роки тому +4

      Karina I will be 100% honest with you and anyone who reads this comment. Drexel is NOT worth it for the money. However, I am already 2 years invested in this school. Being a Westphal student (arts and media (i.e. Interior Design, Graphic Design, Game Design, Product Design, Architecture, VR, Music, etc.)) is honestly hell. You won’t have time to sleep, socialize, or eat since you’ll be awake for ever. I had to pull 5 all nighters in a row (no sleep AND no food) because the professors act as though the only class you have is theirs. That is not the case. I planned on going for my Masters and a double minor. I am still going to do the Masters program for my major since it’s only 1 additional year (5 year program in total), but because of the Drexel Shaft (since the school tends to f everyone over every chance it gets...). As everyone else is out enjoying the day, we are stuck in Westphal working on assignments and projects all day and night. You’ll have to do EVERYTHING yourself. No professors help you. At least our job placement after college is high, because most employers know that Drexel is hell and if you survive there and get your degree from a place that doesn’t really care about your mental health (Drexel made me get on antidepressants, because again, the Drexel Shaft is real) then they know you can survive the ‘real world’. So the choice is yours. Choose wisely.

    • @PeterTsetsekos
      @PeterTsetsekos 4 роки тому +3

      @@itsDus10 Dustin, I understand where you're coming from with potential fallbacks of being in Westphal (I minored in FMVD) but I don't think its fair to generalize and say the University as a whole is not worth it. Drexel's business, engineering, and nursing programs have high national rankings. I graduated from Lebow College of Business and its safe to say I wouldn't have had the opportunity to get a job at a top multinational software company if I didn't have the relevant Drexel co-op experience. Not to mention Drexel has made some serious upgrades to its academic buildings and dorms from 2013 when I was a freshman. I don't deny that the Drexel shaft exists (been there too), but I do feel Drexel is a solid school depending on your field of study. Feel free to add me on IG, always open to share my thoughts if you ever get hit with the Drexel shaft again in the future.

To answer your question, you are entirely allowed to stay in the res halls during breaks including Thanksgiving break, Winter/christmas break, spring break, and all the holidays. However, they don’t allow you to stay beyond the moveout day(which is usually in June.) and that applies to all students regardless of whether they're intentional or not. Hope this helps!

    I saw your comments that you didn’t end up liking Drexel and you said that your experience wasn’t the best, but can I ask why you initially went to Drexel? And how your view on the school changed from when you were a freshman to now? And also how would you say Drexel is to other majors, like nursing for example? I’ve heard both good and bad things about Drexel and I am kinda conflicted on whether this is the school for me or not, especially since I will be out of state and I’ve never been to philly before.

      I stated in another comment just now that Drexel tends to f it’s students over every chance it gets. Yet, employers know that and are more likely to hire Drexel graduates since they have already been put through hell by the university itself. I have investigations going into abuse from professors and a department head trying to cover it up. I sent all of the proof to OED (Office of Equality and Diversity) so... yeah. It was mental and verbal abuse from a professor (nothing physical).

    • @sheila9089
      @sheila9089 4 роки тому

      itsDus10 is this with all the departments? And do you regret going to Drexel and if you could what would you tell a prospective student?

    • @itsDus10
      @itsDus10  4 роки тому +4

      @@sheila9089 I cannot speak about the other departments located at Drexel. Some professors are better than others, and same can be said about classes. I have had classes with professors from different departments, and I can honestly say that some of those professors I enjoyed more than some of the professors in my own college (Westphal). What I would say to a prospective student is to look at all of your options. Do I regret Drexel...? If I did not get into the Masters program, I would've dropped out of Drexel. There has to be a point. I choose Drexel due to me being able to get my Masters degree in a total of 5 years. Rather than other colleges that teach for the 4 years, plus an additional 5 years for a Masters, which equals 9 years in total. For Drexel, the masters program I am in is a total of 1 additional year. So I will spend a total of 5 years at Drexel. At the open house, they said if you want it, you can get it. They did NOT say you have to apply to it. So again, if I did not get into the Masters program, I would've dropped out of Drexel and most likely would've taken legal action against them. I could've went to La Roche for a total of $8K at the end of all 4 of my years there. They gave me the highest scholarship they have ever given to a student (besides a free ride). I would've owed $2K a year. At Drexel, I owe $27k a year. So going from $8k for 4 years at La Roche to $27k for ONE year at Drexel.... yeah. Again, if I did not get into the masters program, I would not be enrolled at Drexel any longer, and I would've filed so many complaints against the university and faculty it wouldn't be funny.
      In my opinion, Drexel is not worth it. Talking with some contacts across the states, they are getting so much more out of their university for a drastically cheaper price. So, I cannot state this enough. Look at ALL of your options. Figure out what YOU want. I want to own my own design firm. Hence why I am minoring in entrepreneurship and seeking my masters in Interior Architecture plus my bachelors in Interior Design. So, why do YOU want to come to Drexel? What do YOU hope to get out of it? I chose Drexel for the previously stated, plus to experience a different city. A city that has a significance to the LGBT community (The Gayborhood). My first year at Drexel, I used it to network and make connections. I was barely on campus besides for class and to sleep. I was out and about traveling through Center City meeting new people. So look at things from a social standpoint as well. Do research on the university. Some professors got fired for discrimination as well has stealing federal loan money and spending it at a strip club. How did the professor even get the money? Makes one think into corruption at the university. Just make sure you know why you want to attend a college. If it meets 1/8 of your requirements, do not attend. if it meets 7/8, think long and hard about it. If it meets all 8, that is good, but just make sure it is what you truly want. I think Drexel only met a few of my "requirements". But it was still better than the other places I got accepted to. The bad thing is the cost of tuition and a majority of the faculty at Drexel. But you do not know about the faculty until you are there. Some are AMAZING, others, are abusive and Drexel doesn't really seem to care. I plan on continuing this conversation after I graduate from Drexel. And some might say if you hate drexel so much, why not leave? Because if I leave I would owe all of the money NOW. Drexel is teaching me that they honestly do not care about us. They are putting us through hell, but I just keep hoping it'll be worth it. If not... well, everyone will know about it. So, that is my advice. Know your worth, and stand up for what you want and deserve. Which is what I have been doing, and people see me as the bad guy. But I do not care. Spending $27K a year, I deserve more than what they are doing now. But people do not want to talk about it. I talk about it and I have emails from deans and department heads telling me to "move on" and that I have "made my point". SO again, Drexel does not care. Since if my point was made, things would've changed. So I plan to keep being that "thorn" in their side until Drexel actually makes the changes that all of the students deserve.

      As an Interior Designer, Myers is not aesthetic at all. You are not permitted to use the elevator(s) in that dorm either at any point besides move in and move out. There is only like two outlets per dorm room, controlled by one switch. I honestly cant remember much of it, but I do go over Myers in the video. Myers is the only one with a courtyard though, but besides that, it made me feel like I was in an asylum if I am being 100% honest with you.

      1) learn how to spell. It seems as though you need to go and seek a higher education yourself, sweetie.
      2) how does Drexel hate America when it’s literally a part of the USA and has its own army reserve?
      3) Everything you say is irrelevant and false. You don’t specify where you work, obviously you don’t know any professors or ever went to college/university or you’d know that’s not how you refer to them to others by. Sorry you didn’t get accepted to Drexel, that’s a bummer. But there’s no need to make up lies about an institution because you’re upset you were rejected, my friend. Best of luck with all of your future endeavors. (If you are confused by the big word I used (endeavors) there’s a thing called Google. Oh, and before you reply (though I’d rather you didn’t), type what you want to say in that search engine, hit the first thing you see that says “Did you mean: (...)” which will correct your homophones and grammar errors, before you waste both of our time☺️👍🏼
