    Great university. I was there when it was still DIT... Drexel Institute of Technology. The year I graduated we switched to Drexel University. The co-op experience was the most significant for me as it help me focus or refocus my career direction. Now I am a "Golden Dragon" ( and still kickin'). I would do it again.

    I will be attending Drexel as a BS in Computer Science from next fall. As you said, the cost was what made me hesitate to commit to Drexel. But as CS is a very practical field (imo) and Co-op would give me the perfect opportunity to utilise my theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios starting from my sophomore year, I decided to invest. Hoping for the best!

    Thank you so much for the video! I will be attending Drexel majoring in BS Computer science. I’ve been worried recently because I’m not the best at coding and learning about computers yet, and I’ve heard Drexel is a fast paced school that runs under a 10 week term. Saying that I’m not sure if I can handle the pace with lack of skills and motivation relating to computer science and coding.
    I’m also thinking about minoring in something as well because in case my major isn’t right for me, I could turn my minor into a major. I’m not sure which minor I should do because I’m not sure which is the right one for me.
    Since I’m committing to Drexel, what are your best tips when coming to Drexel and learning my major? What is a minor that fits well with CS?
    Thank you!

    • @MaggieHo
      @MaggieHo  2 роки тому

      Hello Steven! Thanks for watching! A quarter system can be an adjustment but we have tons of resources to support you if you want extra help with your coding classes. Things also take time! A great thing about the Co-op is that you get to put your coding to practice in the work place and that will help with your learning. You also don’t need to pick a minor until you get to campus so I would suggest meeting with your academic advisor when you get to school to talk more about that.

      @@MaggieHo Got it, thank you so much for the advice!
      Update: I switched to undecided - CCI, so I am able to explore different majors within the department and see which one is better for me. However, I wasn't sure if it's the right decision since a lot of people say that it would not look good if Drexel students come in as undecided since it's a school for those who definitely know what they want to do in life. Do you think undecided is a bad decision or no?
      I have another question to ask: can students, no matter how motivated or intelligent they are, still be able to fit into the school and adjust to the quarter system?
      I will let you know if there are any more questions or comments I have!

    I paid my Drexel Tution deposit and then began the regret process, I'm going to law school though. How do meal swipes work at Drexel? I saw another UA-camr say it gets credited from your fee, and you swipe for a meal?

    • @MaggieHo
      @MaggieHo  4 роки тому +2

      I've only had the privilege of taking 1 law class at Drexel, and that was business law. I sincerely enjoyed that class and I hope that you will end up having a rewarding experience at Drexel. (To be honest, I regretted my deposit at first too. Lmk if you want my commitment story). Meal swipes are built into your meal plan. If you are dorming, it falls under the "room and board" fees. You get a certain amount of swipes per day/per week on your student ID card. (No extra cash/money required from you during purchase).

      Yes! You have a DragonCard and that is your student ID. With the dragon card, you can get into all of your classes and your dorm. You meal swipes will also be on that card! There is an additional feature where you deposit money like a debit card and spend it at partnering food places but to be honest, many of us did not really use that feature vs. using cash or venmo.

    Were you able to stay in one apartment from years 2-5 or did you have to move around for co ops?

      @MaggieHo  4 роки тому +1

      Hello Lukas! I I stayed in affiliated apartments my 2nd year (so apartment building that work with Drexel). my 3-4 years, I lived in "off" campus housing, bc i wanted to. So that was an apartment that was not working with Drexel but still very walkable to campus. I chose to move home during my last year to finish out my co-op and senior year bc the office was closer to home. When you are applying to Co-ops, you get to pick what city you want to work in and find jobs in that area. You do not have to relocate if that is something you're not interested in.

    Which dorm did you live in freshman year? I'm trying to decide but there's so many options

      Hi Lara! I lived in VanR my freshman year and I loved my experience! I have a video about it on this channel so if you want to see the inside of VanR, please consider checking out that video! It is the first video in the Drexel playlist!

      I lived in Race and really liked it! I seriously lucked out with roommates overall, and liked the relative privacy it provided compared to traditional dorms, especially as far as bathrooms/showers are concerned.

    How do I do co op?

    • @MaggieHo
      @MaggieHo  4 роки тому

      If you are interested in doing a co-op or 3 co-ops you would need to declare that as part of your plan of study (when you're applying). If you applied for 4 years no co-op but have changed your mind, you can email Drexel and ask them to change your plan of study. When you get to Drexel, your freshman year will not have Co-ops but they will have Co-op prep classes for you on how to use the Co-op portal and get jobs!
