I'm a clockwise skater, and I'm one that needs to see things in the clockwise direction, as I'm terrible with mentally flipping things around. If you're like me, try this trick...use a mirror, and angle it at the computer, so that you can see the video in it. That image will show the jumps in our "our" direction. :) I've found it this trick to be VERY helpful!
This is an excellent slow motion jump video of solid technique. The the lutz does look a bit flutzy. However, Thank you for posting. I would like to see the same skater do slow motion doubles. Great music, and editing. This really captures the spirit of figure skating. Great take offs, air positions, and great landing positions. Please post more slow motions jump videos on youtube.
I'm learning the basic waltz jump and the problem with these training videos is the 2d aspect. You simple cannot see how the free leg placement is away from the centre line during the jump/turn, it looks as if the free leg is kept close to the supporting/landing leg in the air. i tried to learn from these videos and always got it wrong until i had a coaching session, You really need to observe this technique in the real world for it to make any sense.
I'm so excited by this video!! I skate in Russia and my club shares this training rink and the coaches there with the youngsters!! So I skate here twice a week, where Adelina skates!! She's great to watch - the height in her jumps is incredible, specifically the loop and flip!
correction, a flip and lutz both leave the ice, if you jump counter-clockwise, from the right foot and land on the right foot (if you rotate clockwise, both jumps take off and land on the left foot).
a s c "judges" if anything it's constructive criticism. A lutz is supposed to be off an an outside edge so if it's an inside edge it isn't a lutz. Pointing out someone's mistakes isn't being a judge.
Pugz123 well, of course. Both flip and Lutz take off from the right feet. Here she in the last moment changed to inside edge (look at the curve she makes on the ice) so it's a flutz
@MiaOnIce Wow!! Her height is just so incredible!! That's awesome she won Junior World too!!! I love the video, it shows great technique too for skaters looking to fine tune their jumps:) Thanks so much for posting!!
although i love how her landing position looks, technically her free leg should be much lower!...but u can tell that shes worked on her flexibility. she's amazing either way
@GoFigureSkate1 but what do i know.......ive only been skating forever....midori ito made it to the olympics wrapping her knees together in her damn triple axel....i thought it looks terrible, but ppl were just happy she could do a triple... i love midori shes amazing...again, just a preference
@MiaOnIce i new it was someones skating music and realised whoose just a second before i read it. irina is a great skater and this was a great programm, it was! here it is for people who want to watch it and this is a great video, thank you.
@Cammi Bruns the last foot to leave the ice is your left leg considering you skate counter-clockwise; otherwise, it'd be your right leg for clockwise and edge jumps.
Amazing - what about an overhead drone shot of same, and be immensely helpful for the 2-D aspect? It could be done outside if it would freak out arena staff.
i see what you mean, yes. however i dont see it as a very pronounced kind of a toe axel/mistake/error (as a coach myself - trust me i've seen the worst toe axels in many of my beginner skaters. i'm aware of the fact that we want to aim for greater and greater precision and perfection in all expressing arts, and figureskating is no exceptionto this progress). also i feel i need to add another thing here - that regardless of what happened in sochi, just comparing the two above mentioned skaters, i am currently in a state of mind in which i would prefer watching adelina's imperfections over liza's perfection as it is just closer to what my idea of beauty is. i admire liza's strength, but it just not as pleasurable to watch for me. ... i stopped believing anything in skating can ever be objective and just go for it/consume and create it for the subjective experience of it.
@GoFigureSkate1 yes....but in ANY JUMP....THERE NEEDS TO BE A FRONT SPIN, AND BACKSPIN POSITION, NUMBER ONE FOR A BETTER LOOK, AND GOOD TECHNIQUE THAT WILL WORK IN EVERY JUMP...he stepped up into the jump nicely in front spin position BUT NEVER USED A BACKSPIN POSITION...you dont really have to cross your ankles on a single....your right...but then you have a jump that is right but its ugly as fuck
Beautiful free leg on the landing
+Jacob Fitzpatrick my thoughts throughout this entire video exactly!
The height on that axel... omg.
It scares me
He did dint straighten his legs tho
@@emilielarsen3862 he wasn’t supposed to, he did it right
The height on all of these jumps is impressive.
lol, her flutz has not changed

I’m a clockwise skater.
Thanks for the tip.
Absolutely impossible for me to try anything in the usual direction.

Adelina has such amazing height on her jumps! And a gorgeous landing position!
She has perfect technique. Yes she did a flutz, but the take off (arms, head), air position and landing are perfect.
super height.

Well, you definitely shouldn't self teach yourself figure skating, but watching those videos is super useful

To people who wona know who is the girl in this video. This is Adelina Sotnikova 2014 Olympic Gold Medalist in Sochi Olympic Games.
Adelina Sotnikova did a flutz and toe axel from a young skater.
Even just a single axel makes you look like you're flying.
Beautiful tiny skater!! Thank you 🥰
She used the wrong edge while taking off in Lutz.. hmm
nothing has changed
For me it's so much easier to do it without the edge lol
skater 20082 then it isn't a lutz
skater 20082 then its what they call a flutz
KEM MEK actually the height was the only “nice” thing, her take off is really poor with wrong edge and she took too long for get in the air.
correction, a flip and lutz both leave the ice, if you jump counter-clockwise, from the right foot and land on the right foot (if you rotate clockwise, both jumps take off and land on the left foot).
Nice singles. Looking forward to the doubles. Slow motion really shows everything. Good height in the jumps. Welldone.
That was definitely not a lutz, that was off the inside edge.
DSHz- Hades why you guys even watch figure skating ? Everytime i look a figure s. video there is a hundred judges in comment section
a s c "judges" if anything it's constructive criticism. A lutz is supposed to be off an an outside edge so if it's an inside edge it isn't a lutz. Pointing out someone's mistakes isn't being a judge.
Laughy Sophie i
No it wasn’t. Watch it closely. She took off on her right foot.
Pugz123 well, of course. Both flip and Lutz take off from the right feet. Here she in the last moment changed to inside edge (look at the curve she makes on the ice) so it's a flutz
This helped sooo much to visualize my jumps!! I love her technique!
Lovely. What great height and beautiful landings.
This is going to be very helpful for my animated junior film which is heavily inspired by ice skating.
Looks awesome in slow motion!
Finally I found a good slow motion jump video!! thank you so much!
I love watching his video!!! Its amazing !!
its still hard for me to identify the differences with the jumps. the only one I understand is the axle.
I had that problem too but when I started jumping myself I could see the difference :)
Axel not axle
I understand stuff like toe jumps vs edge jumps and landing on the same or opposite foot. In theory. But it's still hard to tell when watching.
I like the random hot guy at the end doing the amazing axel! :)
They make the jumps look so easy!
wish this video was on here when I was learning them
VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! I wish I could skate like you!
@MiaOnIce Wow!! Her height is just so incredible!! That's awesome she won Junior World too!!! I love the video, it shows great technique too for skaters looking to fine tune their jumps:) Thanks so much for posting!!
That lutz looked like a flutz, that's why I have trouble with mine cause I'm always on the wrong edge, it's supposed to be the outside edge
Awesome jumps !!! great video. Thanks , John
Beautiful landing
Thank you for this video - it is very helpful!
That air time is crazy. Wow.
What is the name of the song? It's very nice. I like how she puts her leg up when she lands. Very elegant looking!
You'd never notice the tiny details of the lutz if it were at regular speed. She jumps so high, she could for sure do triples.
ASHERUISE A complete change of edge is not tiny and it is easy to detect even in normal speed
I didn't notice a life-size Superman cutout in the cafeteria of my old workplace for like 6 months, I'm not Sherlock Holmes.
ASHERUISE of course she could do triples, she’s Adelina Sotnikova, the one who took the gold in 2014 olympics m
This is like watching still pictures.
I'm about at this level:) I LOVE FIGURE SKATING
Lutz is done from an outside edge, the flip is done from an insdide edge.
Thank you ♥♥♥
That's amazing! I hope I can jump like that! Do you have one of the doubles? I loved it!!
although i love how her landing position looks, technically her free leg should be much lower!...but u can tell that shes worked on her flexibility. she's amazing either way
The toe-loop never picks the into the ice for the assist to make it a backward entrance *technically*. Thats considered a cheat.
Very elegant lady.
For the lutz jump, I'm working on getting a full rotation. Any advice on how to get the rotation?
@GoFigureSkate1 but what do i know.......ive only been skating forever....midori ito made it to the olympics wrapping her knees together in her damn triple axel....i thought it looks terrible, but ppl were just happy she could do a triple... i love midori shes amazing...again, just a preference
never mind :) nice flow on ice =)
@MiaOnIce i new it was someones skating music and realised whoose just a second before i read it. irina is a great skater and this was a great programm, it was! here it is for people who want to watch it
and this is a great video, thank you.
i dont seem to be able to link the video but its called
Irina Slutskaya 2005 World LP Wonderland (CBC Canada Commentary)
I wish my landing position was that elegant :)
The axel ... wow
@Cammi Bruns the last foot to leave the ice is your left leg considering you skate counter-clockwise; otherwise, it'd be your right leg for clockwise and edge jumps.
Caitlyn Shirley
Good!
perfect h position!
Prerotation detected
This is not slow motion technology. The same effect I can get through by decreasing speed in setting.
And that was flutz, not lutz :/
Very useful...
Stop the video and re-watch @2:30- 2:35 . That is what you need to study for the take-off.
russian skaters woah
i need those drugs too
Dude she's literally 12-13... Yeah, *drugs*....
Amazing - what about an overhead drone shot of same, and be immensely helpful for the 2-D aspect? It could be done outside if it would freak out arena staff.
The height is amazing
Fancy seeing you here. 😌
Good height on the jumps!
En los saltos simples estás un poco abierta pero de todos modos lo haces muy bien
Anyone know who the skater doing the axel is?
Who's the axel boy?
**Watches video for the 100th time** :D
Whats the difference from the flip and the lutz!
For me my lutz is my: Left toe pick vaulting me up while making a right rotation.
Man that's some serious height!!!!
Her landing position :O I wish my jumps were that high :(
This is Russian ice skater Alexandr Nikolaev.
She's the one who took gold in Sochi this year :)
O Leo yeah the one who didn’t deserve it
how many years and hours
Woah, your jumps are like perfect. :o
Only if my jumps actually looked like that.....
who are these kids and why are they not in the Olympics???
Ha ha! she is gold olympic in Sochi 2014
Where is the music from?
Is she Adelina Sotnikova?
I think she is AS after seeing her toe loop and fluz
Ahahahahahahah :'D
+Hanna X i see a change of edge into a flutz just before takeoff, yes, but i would like to understand why the toe loop was brought up? thanks :)
+drsalka her toeloop is more like a toe axel. Just check her 3Lz3T and ET's 3Lz3T and you will see why I say this.
i see what you mean, yes. however i dont see it as a very pronounced kind of a toe axel/mistake/error (as a coach myself - trust me i've seen the worst toe axels in many of my beginner skaters. i'm aware of the fact that we want to aim for greater and greater precision and perfection in all expressing arts, and figureskating is no exceptionto this progress).

@MiaOnIce how did you get this video of her?!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so high
so then which foot is the last one to leave the ice?
That was a toe walley.
@figuresk8tr489 "ONLY" ladies world junior champion 2010
@MiaOnIce does she have her own channel?
I noticed, I think her arms on her landing, should be 90° to the right, and not so open
2:07 I have always liked Adelina, but that is not a Lutz, and has reached Olympic gold as well
Lutz? You mean flutz?
how come you didn't do the axel. I'm sure you can easily do it?
@GoFigureSkate1 yes....but in ANY JUMP....THERE NEEDS TO BE A FRONT SPIN, AND BACKSPIN POSITION, NUMBER ONE FOR A BETTER LOOK, AND GOOD TECHNIQUE THAT WILL WORK IN EVERY JUMP...he stepped up into the jump nicely in front spin position BUT NEVER USED A BACKSPIN POSITION...you dont really have to cross your ankles on a single....your right...but then you have a jump that is right but its ugly as fuck
2, 07 to 2,09. Is not shw taking off the lutz from an inside edge? lutz take off from an outside edge.
Who is that? Is that Elizavetia Tuktumsheyva?
nice background music :) what is it?
+Lucian Ionescu Croatian Rhapsody by Maksim
she hits such a perfect h position with her leg
Its not a Lutz, edge changed lol
the girl is really good but her leg on landing is way too high, looks almost like a spiral
BBbbboooo
She flutzed :c
@MiaOnIce who is that?!?!
슬로우모션이 아니라 사진움짤같은디..
Bad technique. Too much prerotation on Flip and Lutz.
