Serial experiments Lain is a cyberpunk anime where a shy introvert learns to be more social in the local gay bar of her town.
It's super wholesome and has nothing to do with a social critique of being chronically online while exploring themes of depression, religion and addiction, all while having cientific experiments behind the creation of exceptional children and altered reality.

I'm just surprised that this video doesn't look like it was deepfried. The footage used in the video still looks better than some copies of anime floating around today. Love coming across gems in time like these.

Honestly footage of lain somehow survived better than most other anime from the time, since most footage I've seen is if a similar quality as this video
Semi-related, it wasn't out in 2008 when AMV was made, but there is now a Blu-Ray restoration available that looks very good, they've done it properly and rescanned the original panels. Some are missing, but only a few.

Seriously, make that art that you always wanted to make. Try for that job. Just do it. Even if you fail, at least you can look back and see that you tried. Thanks to the internet and technology, now, there are so many things available to people to not just help you get started, but help you accomplish your dreams. The world will tell you, make you feel, like everything is out of your reach, but you will never know if you don't try. Please for your future self just try. Failure is always on the table, but at least you tried. At least you did your best. At least you didn't waste your life and disappoint those who believed in you. Even if you don't have anyone believing in you at this moment, try. Because the fact that you dream is enough to show that you, at the very least, believe in yourself. Then maybe one day we can all meet in that digital gay bar.

This is a gem for multiple reasons. One of the main ones being the quality of it. This AMV has amazing quality for being from 2008 in literally all of the shows included. Additionally, the editing was more than solid for the year it was made in.
