- Today I start the repair process of my Porsche 914's "hell hole" and outer suspension console. So far everything has gone pretty smooth but will it continue to? Stay tuned to find out.
Nice job! You should consider adding the weld in GT stiffening kit while you’re this deep to supplement the tangerine braces.
I am planning to do that, it may have to wait until after the Ruchlos Rallye due to the time crunch.
Awesome video! I just started restoration on my 914. Still tearing it down, but know I have a lot of sheet metal to repair. Subscribed. Thanks for the content!
Awesome so glad you are enjoying it. Feel free to reach out if you have any 914 questions.
A really interesting video. Thanks for taking so much trouble. Like several others I am looking forward to the next instalment.
Thank you so much for the support! Progress is being made and hope to have the next video posted next week.
@@loudpedalgarage3503 I would imagine there are a good few people out there who are curious to see how you get on. I like the idea of creating a jig before you start. I wonder if the factory dimensions are available somewhere to make a comparison with your car?
I used to run a body shop some years ago and we were agents for the French company Cellette. They do a jig bench with brackets so you can pop your car on the jig brackets to make sure everything is straight and in-line. I am not suggesting to go that route but I will contact Cellette (I live in France) and see if they can offer any advice or dimensions.
@@Qspecialman Thank you for the feedback, I am going to be using the jigs I built along with measurements I took then a final check with a full motorsports style alignment before welding in place. A full vehicle jig will always be the best route but really just isn't practical for the few of us that need this. There are some factory dimensions available, I may include them in my next video.
@@loudpedalgarage3503 I agree about a professional jig is over the top for just a few people. As the owner of a 914 (I bought her last December) I am very interested in your progress. It seems!!!! that my Car is OK as far as the "Hell hole" is concerned, but as we all know, rust never sleeps. So your video is another piece of information for all 914 owners to watch! Thanks for all your efforts.
When I get the factory dimensions I will put them in my 914 file for the future.
Good job. Might want to use an external mic as its hard to hear you when the camera is set back.
Thanks, I have been using a cheap external mic but it doesn't work the best. Probably going to try out a wireless clip on mic next.
Great vid. Looking forward to the next one. I've got a slight sag on that same side with my 914. Not sure yet if it was a poor prior fix (unlike your masterful plan) or indeed a current deterioration internally that i can't see. Thanks!
thank you, unfortunately the only way to find out is to start digging in there and seeing what you've got. Hopefully my videos can help you tackle your own car with some confidence.
Bonjour, super sujet récurent, cela va m'aider pour la mienne, moins rouillée mais je dois changer TOUT le bas extérieur droit de ma 914.
Autres vidéo à ce sujet ?
Merci
I think AA and RD came to an agreement about some parts they wouldn't compete on. I believe there was some legal history with the previous owner of RD.
