Hi everyone, this video is a short introduction to myself and the projects I plan on documenting on this channel. Please subscribe if you would like to follow along with my Porsche and other garage based projects.
Thanks for sharing that.
Pretty cool , great work , not feeling the fog lights tho
Ducati build?
Nope, it’s European but not a Ducati.
Looks great. Any concern with the bare aluminum getting oxidized?
Not really, I keep them pretty clean and protected but any oxidation will just add to the patina and help them match the car.
Great video. Epic trip.
I drive a 914-6
Great job bud. A great testament that just about anything on these cars can be fixed. The front top cowl at the top of the fenders is a bitch also due to rust. In my day the original/repro sheet metal wasn't as available as it is now. I had a 73 1.7 that literally had the suspension console snap as I went over a speed bump in my apartment complex. Good thing I wasn't doing 100 mph on the freeway when it snapped. That was in 1987. Bck then there were some original parts that were still available to fix that in the original Porsche Parts bins which is where I got an "original" suspension console from believe it or not. I took it to some local guys that had no clue and they hacked up a brand new original suspension console instead of taking off the old suspension console they just stuffed it up into a rusty area to do a shoddy repair. I was so sick of their shoddy job that I just sold the car for parts. Then I bought a 74 1.8 that was just missing the battery tray and there was no hole in the longitudinal member lime my 73. Once you're finished with your repairs you should get an 914 6 suspension stiffener kit and overlay all your work as this was used in the 914 6 GT. THEN go find a surplus 928 engine and drop that thing in there. There are a few guys on UA-cam that have done this but they struggle with the repositioning of the water pump. There is a simple solution to this. Just drive it electrically like a race car. Then you don't have to worry about hacking up the firewall. If you don't have a six, it would be cheaper than buying a 6-cylinder motor to put in it. 6 cylinder 911 engines START at $10 to $12,000, and putting a small block Chevy in it is like cringe for a purist as far as I'm concerned. Again great job man.
Cookie Monster. My girlfriend calls my Audi TT that I fashioned in the old Outlaw style Grover because it is blue. I feel your pain.
I love seeing people driving their cars and truly enjoying the experience. I remember when we embarked on that drive from Florida to California for Rennsport 7. We covered 8700 miles, sticking to back roads in our Porsche. It was one of the best road trips I've ever taken.
🤘🏼
no MD 🤟🤪
Great video of a great time hanging out with friends! Can’t wait to go again (Shop Matt)
Your 914 1 year transformation video was my favorite up to now, I think this is your best one yet. I really enjoyed it!!!
Thanks! Slowly getting better at this video thing.
Great video! I'll be doing a curtain in my garage as well.
I highly recommend it, its really cut down on the mess in the rest of the garage.
@@loudpedalgarage3503 mine will be to contain the wash bay spray from getting to the rest of the garage.
Great video!!! Was a blast rallying with you!
Thanks Todd!! It was a good time for sure.

Thanks for sharing. I’m new to the Porsche seen and love seeing them. I’m building a 74 over on my channel . I’m new to your channel but catching up. -Spanky
Thanks for watching!! I will check out your channel.
Excellent, thank you!
Great video.
Thank you!
Fantastic video! Glad you got to enjoy so much along the way too!
Thank you, the trip there was worth the cost of admission!
I love it !!
Thank you it was a trip of a lifetime!
How about a mid engine 911 with some sick engine and transmission in it?
😉
I’m hoping for a 911 one day, definitely a 964 or earlier. But the 914 is all the budget can handle as it is lmao
Nothing wrong with a 914, I love mine!
@@loudpedalgarage3503 oh for sure, the plan would be to have both, the 914 stays!
Your 914 is exactly how I’d build one if I didn’t already have a yard full of Vw projects, but would love to see a video highlighting that one. My buddy and I have a ‘72 targa we have named “Carcass” that is slightly more solid than your shell. We will be watching your build to see how you handle squaring things up … cheers!
Check out my channel Dave, there are several 914 videos. Thanks for watching!
Nice work. Looking forward to seeing more.
Sounds cool 👍🏻
🤘😎🤘
I don’t think the purists will care. This project has nothing to do with an original car. Keep it up!
I agree...but there are some guys who are going to scoff at the final product. Thanks for the encouragement!
Subbed - nice find! Any tips on how to find something like this? I’m planning to buy a Porsche shell in the next couple months.
Keep your eyes out in the normal places like marketplace and eBay. I lucked out and this shell was a parts car for a project I knew of.
Sweet! I’m here for it! I have a 996 but want an older one to work on too. Good luck and I’ll be watching for sure
Going to be rad bro!
I may be wrong but the best thing about wreckages like that is that as long as you can see their VIN number you can register it as a car it used to be but the repair can cost you much less than buying a well preserved or a new one. And since you basically do it from a scratch, you have an excuse to use different materials, modify it etc. I wanted to do a very rare retro Audi like that but I lack time, skill and even money to rebuild it from ground up.
Yes the vin is worth the purchase price for sure. Luckily for me I build everything myself so I don't have to pay anyone for repairs, plus I'd much rather build a car than buy it no matter what the cost.
Nicely done, and sweet sound!
Thank you soo much! I am really happy with how it all turned out.
Great video. Thing is, it gives me zero faith in all other repairs. So my only purchase option is to buy rotten and fix up. Which I can’t do!
Thank you, it is a challenge to find one that doesn't have issues that are hidden but not impossible. There are some good resources to help you though.
Looks rad!
Great father and son project 👍
😀👍👍What fun and adventure!
Nice repair/reinforcement. Love the look of your 914. Currently in the market for one
Coffee cup of baby
I am the owner of 2-1974 914's. One I restored 15 years ago and I have put 25K miles on it. Chevy guy who has fallen in love with these cars. The other I stripped to bare body and rebuilt everything. It's a 2.0, dual Webers, factory sway bars, Bilstein shocks, 5 bolt fucks replicas. Painting shell tomorrow.
Thats awesome! It's really easy to fall in love with these little cars. Hope you paint lays like glass tomorrow!
damn, you're doing this so much nicer than we did. Really cool build, look forward to seeing more of it!
Sounds good…. And you are handsome.
RTFM! 14:25 read the f****** manual! LoL😇
Nah!! Lol!!
Good to see a new vid 👍
More to come!
I would like to learn from you. Pls learn how to keep your audio levels even. If you tack some towels or pillowcases to your garage ceiling it would help control echoes. Hanging like flags.
You are a genius! Thank you for bringing an actually dead 914 back to life! Thank God that you don't have a technical inspection association (TÜV for short). Here in Germany, no matter how well you did the repairs, you wouldn't have needed this vehicle back on the road. Because it was about the "load-bearing parts" of the vehicle and unfortunately in Germany you can't simply flex them away and replace them with new sheets.
Thank you!! Yes we are lucky here in the states that we can refurbish older cars.
What a great adventure to share w/ur son👍👏 & the rest of us👏
What kind of welder do you use?
This was all done with a Lincoln 175HD mig welder. I believe I used 0.030 solid wire and 75/25 shielding gas. Really basic setup but is very diverse for all kinds of metal work.
great work keep it up !
Hello, I see at the end of the video BREMBO 4 PISTONS brake calipers, would it be possible to know if it fits without modification? Please these BREMBO are mounted on which car? Thank you from France
They are actually Willwood Dynalite calipers. I'm sorry I don't remember the exact part number but they do fit without modification on the 911SC rotors and spindles.
Those are a great idea because they don't make replacement arm mounts. I can see a market for these for sure.
