The unit in this video is a preproduction one, Space Invaders and front line are not on the production unit. Frogger on the production units looks almost like the arecade version.
Built in rechargeable batteries can be a pain to replace. Especially years later when these are on the secondary market. It's a perfect power source until it isn't.

I've watched enough videos of yours to hear about the original version of space invaders, but could not recall what it was like. Then when you showed it here it all came back to me! You are right, it's much better. The sounds of the aliens moving back and fourth gets so intense. The device looks pretty cool. I'd like to see a big red button. Does it seem like if you get into a game you might hit the other buttons by accident? I kind of feel like they should've just included non-paddle games in this collection. Nice video!
I agree, the paddle games should have been left off, they are not very playable using a dpad. I had no problems with the red button on this unit with me hitting other buttons at the same time and I have fat thumbs :P
I hope AT Games makes a Coleco Vision and In television portable,I would give anything to shake the hands of the people for creating these and thank them for bringing my happy childhood memories back to me.

The one I had, the portable Master System, didn't have a way to add additional games. I think it got wet and ruined on me. I don't hink I have a functional version now though. It was fine for the day.

I was thinking about buying one of these for travel and using my Atari flashback 7 at home (btw if you are thinking about getting an Atari flashback 7 use a wired controller because the wireless ones that it comes with use inferred) but this video is kind of convincing to get one of these so thank you for making this video i thought it was really awesome

Its the same frogger on the Flashback 7 (not the parker brothers one) and Yars Return has been around quite awhile on the Flashbacks as well. Cant make everyone happy, if I showed every game I would get complaints for that as well :P
It's a decent portable but the sound is a bit off as it would be since AT Games released this, I still prefer playing my Atari games on a PSP and the sound is a lot better too with no rom compatible issues.
Considering that it says Firecore on the screen when you go into the SD card menu, I'm going to assume this unit is based on the same hardware and operating system as those AtGames Sega Mega Drive units that have been available for ages. I wonder if the software on this unit is programmed such that if it sees the Atari Space Invaders ROM file named correctly it prevents you from playing it, that may explain the issues you had with that game. I wonder if there was some kind of copyright or licensing issues with the Atari version of Space Invaders. The only Atari 2600 games I've played are Desert Falcon, Double Dragon, Missle Command and River Raider, oh, and actually I have played the 2600 version of Frogger I believe. Too bad River Raider isn't on that unit, that game was good.
It was just how I was naming the rom, I renamed it as Spaceinvaders.bin and it still works. Even put 2600 in the name and it still worked. This unit is very finicky about how the roms are named, has to begin with a capital letter and all lowercase afterwards
Pretty ok for what they offer the sound quality is choppish but if ya can mute it on some games and see past it then it can be good thing for kids to play or just a good way to kill time. Plus you can charge it on your computer ya don't have to waste a plug in or spend a crap ton on batteries.

Have you tried the headphone jack to see if that improves the sound at all? If it supports an 8 gig SD card you could probably fit every 2600 bin in it, couldn't you?
I finally found one last unit tonight in a Bed Bath And Beyond. Over the past week or so, Ive been in a bunch of stores. They're always sold out. So I got the last one. The display and sound on mine seem weird. The display has an annoying polarized effect when looking dead on. If I hold it slightly to the left or right the screen looks good. But looking straight on, it hurt my eyes. The sound is good and loud but makes a humming noise an other noises, like ther's a short or something. Sometimes it clicks and clacks like there's a hard drive in there. Are they all like this, or did I get a beat one?
i got one from the same place, it makes noise from the speaker like you said, like it has a hard drive in it. Oddly, the screen on mine looks good straight on, but you can see the led's that light the screen on the right which is annoying. What ever happened with your unit ?? Looks like bed bath abd beyond is not selling them anymore ?
I still have it. BB&B has no time limit on returns. So I'll keep it until the season settles down. I think once the novelty wears off, you will start seeing them everywhere.
OH MAN! A 77 Grand Prix! AWESOME! My first car was a 79. 2nd year of the square body, still with steel bumpers. With buckets/console, gauge pack(extremely rare for that year), the smaller 14" honeycomb rally wheels, and the only downside was the crappy 301 V8. The 350 was discontinued by then. My cousin had the 77. I always liked his better. This summer I saw a mint (really factory mint) 77 for sale in Port Jefferson, LI. Red and White, buckets/console, gauges, rallies, I don't remember if it had the moonroof. Aside from a repaired chip in the widshield, it was absolutely flawless, In and out. Not a single ding or scratch. There was no bondo waves, overspray of any sort. If it wasn't so old, I would say it was a factory original finish. I called the guy, I was expecting to hear $20-25k. He was only asking 8 thousand! I was all ready to meet with him. Then he mentioned the 301. That's a short life motor with no power to move a huge car like that. I still think I should have bought it. How fast do I need to go in a 40 year old bone stock passenger barge.
These things are interesting but they always fall short for me because of the control. Many of these games need a proper joystick. Personally I don't like Dpads for some of these games and the paddle games, to me, are unplayable.

Great review, what website did you go to to download the games to the SD card? Edit - I see you mentioned AtariAge, is it the 'download ROM' option files that I put on the SD card? I just bought this console as a gift for my 80 year old mother and I need to walk her through over the phone how to add games. She loves Atari lol!
cerat a directory called Game on the SD card then copy the roms into it. first letter of each rom has to be in captial and the rest lower case. Roms are over on Atariage.com

I see, and maybe you can't have any spaces in the file name too possibly. Clearly ATGames could make improvements to the firmware.

yes, the headphones do sound better on this. ya with 8 gigs you can pretty much get every 2600 game/homebrew on this little dohicky

sounds like you may have gotten one with a bad display, I would take it back and try to get it exchanged.
