- Just a quick flight to test the aircraft is working well following a rebuild. Few things that still need to be tweaked, but all in all working pretty good :)
Wanna throw me a few dolla to help me keep making videos? www.buymeacoff...
Insufficient braking power can be annoying. Thank you for letting me know I'm not the only modeller encountering that issue.
I built a flying wing with a clear dome to put all the camera gear behind. It looked great and was sleek and aero. But i discovered the dome fogged in sub zero conditions and i was partially blind as a result! 🤣
The glare from the sun now and then kind of ruined some videos as well.
Ah well, i enjoyed building it and it flew well in fairness.
Haha, yeah can imagine fog and light glare being a issue. Probably explains why we don't see more pilot's using domes to protect their cams. Maybe (if you decide to try it again) add a demisting fan to pull moisture out the dome. That actually might work quite well then lol
what fantastic wonderland is that place you fly?!? omg! 🤩
Did you notice the Swordfish flying better with the extra fins as other have noted? Better how? Something I've wonder is placing fins on top vs. bottom. Have yet to see anyone try and note if a difference. (it would reduce concerns of losing a fin in a grass field landing)
For landing can try aligning to land 5-7m off to the side. This should allow view control tower at an angle off of the nose as near the ground. If digital HD Tx's allowed duo camera inputs, having an second camera on the nose, or tail would be fun.
Am becoming impressed with how rounded a plane this appears, doing many things well. For a future glide test, you could try setting motors at 1, or 1.5 amps to measure glide slope. If a bit of atmospheric lift, might be able to fly for an hour or more. ;)
In all honesty, noticed absolutely no difference having the tail fins on, didn't seem to change flight characteristics in any noticeable way 🤷 Only thing I noticed was it threw the CG off and I had to add dummy weight to the nose to offset it lol. It would be awesome if digital VTX's supported dual cam inputs, however a simpler solution (for me in this situation) would be if Caddx sold extra long coaxial cables, so I could pop the camera in the nose whilst keeping the VTX on top of the fuselage. It's very frustrating having to keep the cam and VTX close together, it limits mounting options.
@@gizfpv Thanks, good to know. That's one way to support fling with larger batteries. ;)
Agree, the frustration is real (short video cables). Caddx does offer 20 cm cables. What would open eyes of wing pilots is if they offered a Camera Cable Extender (just a pcb with two connectors) so two video cable's could be daisy chained. Should you have a contact, it might make for a notable suggestion.
(an enhanced 3 connector Camera Extender could offer switching between two camera sources .. but this would require some electronics)
Pretty fantastic flying, dude! 😃
It really flies nicely!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Rather than the esc brake, would be interesting to see a twin like this but with folding props ?
👍 i know you have counter rotating motors and props but i was wondering if they rotate inwards(towards the fuse ) or outwards ?
Hey Giz another great flight and I looked back at Andrew Newtons page he and Marc kind of figured out a fix
ua-cam.com/video/95vN1nBr6WQ/v-deo.html
1. Reduce Horizon Drift by adding CLI line - set imu_acc_ignore_rate=7
2. Increase elevator throws to 30º up and down in Manual (60º total).
and 20º up and down in Acro
3. Set max rotation rates for pitch and roll at 85º/sec
4. Use a decent quality elevator servo and lubricate the plastic elevator hinges.
Cheers man, I'll give that video a watch and see if it helps. From memory (when I had this problem years ago on a S800) the solution was definitely in the CLI codes. Just can't remember off the top of my head what the codes where lol
Just come back from a break in the hobby. Really nice to watch your videos again.
Looking at your vid, I can see that walksnail have fixed the SneakyOSD Inav font compatibility issue now and we can use it with all the old elements showing properly now?
Hey man, sorry for late reply. Yes and no. The SneakyOSD Inav font now works perfectly when adding the OSD to the DVR data after flight. It's however still a little bit buggy during actual flight. Most of it works, but the artificial horizon doesn't display properly. For that reason I use the Walksnail default font during flight and only use Sneakys font for the DVR
@Giz FPV I see so they still haven't added the extra pages for the font to work. No worries I'll still use the default osd as well then.
I know this is off topic but have you also been affected by the Orqa crisis?
@@don83030 No I haven't. I did own Orqa goggles as my daily drivers for the past 2 years, but sold them a month ago. Lucky for me I guess, but I feel bad for the guy I sold them too. Have you?
@@gizfpv I've been to afraid to turn them on so I don't even know if I'm affected or not XD. But apparently it was ransomware put into the software of the goggles from early production.
They will soon come out with a proper fix so until then I'll just fly with either my old skyzones or fly HD with my Walksnail goggles
If you ever manually set the date/time on your goggles, or ever did a firmware update via wifi, then your goggles are almost certainly effected unfortunately. But as you've no doubt heard, Orqa has apparently found a software fix which should be available very soon (possibly by the end of today). Lucky you have other goggles to fly with!
You simply have to get a 270 degree panning servo....It's a game changer for this plane ...See Andrew Newton's channel....🤔😳😀🇬🇧
I'd love nothing more! Just gotta sort out a TX solution as running pan on the Tango just isn't a viable option lol
@@gizfpv Oh, you bought a Tango?
Okay, let's keep it quiet, I won't tell anyone what you've done, honest I won't...lol ...My favourite furtive Transmitter these days is my little Zorro with an internal M.Module and a micro Crossfire on the Bay. Such a weapon.....🤔😳😏😏😏😀🇬🇧
@@EnglishTurbines Yeah I've got a Tango lol. It's actually a awesome little radio, just a shame it doesn't have a slider for doing pan. Have been debating a Zorro, but I have had bad experiences with radiomaster products which has made me apprehensive 🤷
@@gizfpv I've got a TX16S as well, brilliant radio, it's also running Edge TX...Just stay away from their dirt cheap 2.4G receiver's, the range is terrible...even when tuned....🤔😏😏 I couldn't live with that tiny Tango screen either..😳
i noticed in the box thiers a little black card saying the craft needs 5 degree up on the fc and 3-5 mm upward on the v control surfaces,,
Oh was there? I didn't notice that, thanks for the tip!
Is this view exactly what you saw in your googles? I mean, was the video with that quality? And, do you have to pay for access to that satellites in order to have connection? Thanks for reply
Yes, what you see on the screen is exactly what you see in the goggles. It's a HD fpv system, streaming 1080p at 25mbs. No you don't have to pay to use the satellites lol
@@gizfpv thank you, so satellites transmit signal for free and the view resolution is awesome. Do you know what fpv model is this. I would love to apply it for my rc plane😉
Very cool!!! Im looking for distance as well on a fixed wing using 4g
See if you can find a modded Parrot Disco anywhere. They run over a 4g connection and have ridiculous flight time for long range flight!
@@gizfpv thats exactly what im doing, I have everything I just have to get the software up and running, Im excited
Do you think folding props would help with gliding?
They certainly wouldn't hurt to try
Love it
Nice.
Nice video - My Swordfish arrives in a few days. Wondering what you did to get AHI to work nicely (Dots, not letters) on the OSD?
The trick is to make sure you specifically enable to the INAV OSD option on the goggles/module. Don't leave it on auto.
Your spotter must have awesome eyesight !
Spotter digs 1080p
What osd is this??
Walksnail
Noob question what's the video transmitter?
It's a Walksnail Avatar HD vtx v1
@@gizfpv Thanks.
You every figure anything else out with the weird video issues you have when you pass the 10 minute mark?
Oh, I just saw bonafidepirate's video from a few weeks ago where he said Caddx was able to identify what caused the issue you all were having and it's supposed to be fixed in the "next" firmware (which I guess at this point may already be here?).
Sorry for late reply. No the issue still hasn't be resolved unfortunately. Caddx has sent me several beta firmware's to try in the last few weeks (the most recent being this morning) but so far none of them has managed to resolve the recording issue. It's good to see they are actively trying to solve the issue, but so far it's remains a bug
@@gizfpv yeah, shame it’s still there but fantastic that they are actively trying to chase it down and responsive to input.
I wish I had your knowledge, I have 2 builds and never flown either one...both pixhawk cube and crossfire, but I can't connect to GC by wifi or Bluetooth...so without telem I'm scared to maiden...I'm looking into dms xlrs, bout 1 set of radio and receiver, just trying to figure how to rebuild
I've not done it myself, but from what I've seen it should be absolutely possibly to connect a Pixhawk to Mission Planner via a Crossfire link. I'm pretty sure Painless360 has a video showing how to do it? That said though, do you need a live connection to MP during flight? Most of us don't have anything like that enabled
@Giz FPV ...I'd like to be able to follow the flight via GC for flying missions.
I thought you were using a GC with a PC following your flights ...so you strictly fly long distance using only GPS?
PS, I watched the painless 360 video but I can't get it working...so I bought a telem system from dms xlrs that the transmitter connects to my taranis ...it works perfectly on MP but not I have issues running drop down voltage to the rx, the camera and the vtx runs separately...so it's just trying to figure it out without using another separate battery to run video...I love the build, just scared to let em fly...its crazy, in the mean time I fly my disco, I have 2 of them...yes I know it's nothing compared to real fpv...and I have so much into it
