    I have a 2nd Nitro Mesh kick pad tower & pedal on the way (off eBay). I hear that it & a mono Y splitter will work for "true" double bass. If not, there's other options, I believe, such as hooking the 2nd kick tower into Tom 4 and setting it as a kick.

    • @WhiskeyDrums
      @WhiskeyDrums  3 роки тому +2

      Yeah that seems like a viable option 🤔, one that I considered when I bought my double pedal and figured out it wouldn't work. I chose to go with a tower that can handle a double pedal that way I can use the tom and crash expansion ports for other inputs. Good luck and with the second tower, let us know how it works out!

      Oh, I never updated this. Yes, a 2nd Alesis kick tower pad *DOES* work with a mono Y splitter. It works MUCH better than a double pedal on the small kick pad (plus I prefer 2 kicks). And it was only 70-ish bucks for a 2nd bass drum pad, and 10 bucks for the Y splitter. 80 bucks total can get true double bass. & since it's through a mono Y splitter, it's sharing 1 input for the kick pads -- if you change the sound of one, the other changes with it exactly.

      Don't hold me to this one, but yes I believe that would work. It's not the drum module where you control voices and change kit numbers and what not, it's the actual trigger inside the kick tower that is the issue.

    Hi, FYI I bought a used Nitro kit and a used Dixon 9290D double pedal. Double kick works great just by adjusting the kick sample of course but also the height of the hammers and direction of the heads (so that the inside edge of each head hit the pad as close to the middle as possible). No need to tweak, bend, buy or swap anything. Your video almost cost me 200$+ for a used bigger kick pad, please be mindful before using the word ''impossible'' in public. Thank you and happy testing.

    • @WhiskeyDrums
      @WhiskeyDrums  2 роки тому +1

      No I still standby impossible. If you're playing with any real speed it doesn't register the hits. After I got my yamaha kick pad I took the alesis tower apart to where I had just to trigger in front of me. It's couldn't even keep up with my hand speed. I'd like to see a video of what speed your playing at. If the trigger can keep up there is a chance they use a different trigger now. I bought my nitro like 3-4 years ago so this could be the case as well.

    • @lebki

      @@WhiskeyDrums Yep its true. Nearly 2 hours of tweaking the sound, volume, beaters hight/angle/, and this is nowhere to be "good enough". Thank you for checking out the video! A double pedal will fit, but it's tight. Like I said in the video the kick tower that it comes with, the actual trigger pad is only 4.5 inches. The biggest thing is that the trigger itself isn't sensitive and responsive enough to quick successive hits. So you would do 2 quick hits, and only one would be picked up. I bought a Nitro a year ago and play really fast death metal and yeah no way did the stock Nitro work for that. I bought another Nitro kick tower and a cable splitter and that worked ok but still was never 100% accurate. Also when playing really fast the module would start missing hits from other drums as well, I assume because it just didn't have enough processing power to handle a lot of inputs in quick succession from multiple pads or if you play several of them at once quickly. I just bought an Alesis Crimson II SE and it works perfectly with no issues for double bass and fast playing.
