  • What a perfect day in Vikersund!
    On the 18th of March in 2017, Robert Johansson set the new world record with 252 meters.
    Only 30 minutes later, the great Stefan Kraft set another world record to an astonishing 253.5 meters!
    Johan Remen Evensen, who was the former holder of the world record for the longest ski jump, at 246.5 meters, is the side commentator for the Norwegian TV.

    Respect to the Norwegian commentators for getting almost as excited about an Austrian breaking the world record as their own man.

    ~250 is the limit for longest jumps because the landing hill isnt long enough

    • @cateyesaerial7703
      @cateyesaerial7703 4 роки тому +5

      Its not the limit but its not safe to jump that far. If you want to go over Kraft's jump length they will have to build a bigger hill.

      @@cateyesaerial7703 nah Kraft had an insane height. look how much he falls in order to land. someone with a better flight curve who comes into landing with not so much height could stand on further

    • @cateyesaerial7703
      @cateyesaerial7703 3 роки тому

      @@TH-cx2yx I disagree. Vassiliev had a better flight curve but fell hard at 254 meters, there's no way anyone could go farther, because the hill is nearly flat where Kraft landed.

    • @TH-cx2yx
      @TH-cx2yx 3 роки тому +2

      @@cateyesaerial7703 you are clearly new to the sport. it is common knowledge that vassiliev is horrible at landing. he could barely land any normal jump let alone a 250 plus. he didnt even try to land it. someone with a flight curve like prevc could beat it without extending the hill

    • @cateyesaerial7703
      @cateyesaerial7703 3 роки тому

      @@TH-cx2yx First of all, i'm not new, you must be new if you think someone can land past 254 and land it.

    Screw the jumpers, I'm having a hard time understanding when and how did the arrow showing the record distance mid series shift like that 🤔😋🐱

    • @TH-cx2yx
      @TH-cx2yx 3 роки тому +1

      its not the record distance. its how far he needs to jump to get the number 1 spot in the competition

    • @TH-cx2yx
      @TH-cx2yx 3 роки тому +1

      it changes because of the air resistance. more front wind, the easier it is to fly, and the further you need to jump to get number 1. if the guy who is currently leading jumped 220 meters with back wind, and you have front wind you would probably have to jump about 230 meters to beat him instead
