The sad part is this will probably be forgotten in a month or so. Another shooting will happen elsewhere. This has basically made us numb🙁
It's really very sad. Schizophrenia is a terrible illness. My sister has schizophrenia and his symptoms are all too familiar. They are even the same age. After his hospitalization and his family asking the police for help, it's insane that he was able to keep his guns. It was negligent. The system failed all the victims in this tragedy, including him. There needs to be federal red flag laws.

This ended like I figured it would. Condolences to every family who lost love ones. Hope they find peace in the community as the days, weeks, and months ahead progress. I’m angry too but he was hearing voices, that means he had a very serious brain injury that split his personality. It was officially diagnosed and it is very likely that some alter ego was in control when this happened. He was severely mentally disturbed and disabled

I personally saw that coming. I think we’re going to find out that he shot himself very soon after the murders. Personally, think if he hadn’t killed himself right away, he would’ve continued shooting. And the fact that they couldn’t find him tells me he probably shot himself very soon afterward. Either way, at least this community can move on in the grieving process now. The focus will be on the victims where it belongs. I have a lot of sympathy for this man’s family, but I have none for the shooter. Even if it turns out that he legitimately had mental health issues he was still a very angry man. And he made the decision to turn that anger on innocent people. I will never understand killing innocent people, and especially children. That’s a decision he made in his anger.

Mental Health needs to be on the top of the list. I saw three people that stop taken meds and cops could not do nothing. They all where threatening residents and nothing could be done until someone get hurts or they finally damage property. This needs to change.
Some people, like myself, are way worse on medication. I refuse to take any.
Just because someone has mental illness does not mean they need to be on medication, or that it's even the best option. Those medications are strong and life altering, and not always for the better. The side effects can be extreme.
Please do more updates about those who were injured if possible. There hasn't been much talk at all by anyone including law enforcement.
America must get its act together with gun regulations. This man should never ever have had a gun anywhere near him. He should have been put in an institution. It would have saved 18 lives and his life. Come on America!! Change!!

Wow! I can't even believe this world still exists with all the evil being perpetuated on a daily basis. It makes no sense why this man shot those people like he did just because he was in a bad place in his life. But, such is the life of a narcissist. Instead of facing the truth of his failures, he deems it a duty to obliterate innocent people because he was unable to love himself. Too bad we have to live in a world like this, but I'm also glad that life is short and we'll all be out of this mess before long. That's the only peace I have.

Morales, 34 years old. not sure about the apartment complex your talking about but it could be where 2 of the m4's were recovered and maybe 2 of the hand guns that were recovered. most of the hand guns are still out there some where. the m50 I was wrong about. those guns were stolen from a house in Auburn ma that has 800 lbs of ammo several military grade weapons and c4 grenades and more. but there was m50 sniper rifles stolen from there and a guy was found carrying on on the street. no idea where the m50's came from originally cause those are military grade/issues heavy duty sniper rifles and Massachusetts gun laws are so strict. and obviously c4 is illegal to have too.

I've worked in court 25 years, and am friends with a person who was extremely successful up to 22 until he became schizophrenic. I agree. It's troubling in my work that schizophrenics are perfectly allowed to purchase firearms. My own brother in law was bipolar, institutionalized five times and on a massive amount of antipsychotics. When I called the police I was tol he has a right to bear arms. He killed himself days later. I thank G*d he didn't kil others. I don't understand why schizophrenics and those who are bi-polar are allowed to buy guns. It seems like a pretty low bar to get over.

Wife just told me a little while ago, "they found him in the river" doesn't bring the victims of this senseless crime back, but it also doesn't make the victims families go thru the ordeal of a drawn out court case and him sitting in a prison on taxpayers bill. This man was mentally ill, committed just recently for having thoughts of wanting to kill people but discharged. Family reported him dangerous and were ignored. He should’ve been in the hospital, and if he was allowed to leave laws are in place that he should never have guns again. Either the mental hospital or the police did not do their job. This should never of happened.

Some reality comparisons
Canada, your neighbour to the north has had the following since 1902 or in the last 121 years:
68 mass shootings with 229 deaths in total
They have also had in 167 years 8 mass school shootings with 13 deaths in total (in the above numbers.)
After every serious event, Canada looked at it’s gun laws and made changes to prevent shootings from re-occurring. They have banned assault weapons and have now banned handguns. After Vegas, you had thoughts and prayers, Canada moved to ban assault weapons. You had the mass shootings in Texas and Tennessee and did nothing, Canada has moved to severely restrict handgun ownership.
Canada’s biggest gun challenge is smuggled illegal weapons from guess where? The USA. MY guess is those involved will find themselves facing mandatory and severe penalties in the near future.
In 2021, the following states had more gun murders than the entire country of Canada Population 40,000,000, Gun murders 297
Even more telling, Toronto with a population of 6,000,000 had a total of 89 homicides (all types) in 2021.

As a gun owner myself, I find it sad that people like this have access to firearms. It is unacceptable that people this troubled are allowed to purchase the means to take other, innocent, lives out with them. We need to significantly improve our mental health care as well as work to prevent those with ill intent to purchase firearms in the first place. "Thoughts and prayers" are clearly not enough........
Can you tell us how we can prevent those with I'll intent from purchasing firearms? Or how we can decipher it intents? The perpetrator of this crime most likely didn't have I'll intent when he first purchased his firearm, or did he? Further, how easy is it to track down every mentally disturbed individual with a firearm and take away their firearms?
No citizen needs to own a war weapon. Period.

Its interesting that he stayed in the state of Maine. Its a pretty short drive to exit the state. Within 2 hour drive, he would have made it into NH or MA in a different vehicle before roadblocks would have been properly established.
